Thank you for the Free information - much appreciated. one question I have though If I, as a manufacturer have CE / GPSR Documentation and I provide this to my Importer / Distributor in the EU region, do they need to "Verify" by also testing the same product themselves using a 3rd party CSPC accepted company at their own cost as well in order to be a compliant seller in EU?
Hello, For starters, CPSC accepted labs are relevant in the context of CPSIA and other CPSC standards - not in the EU (although many of those labs also provide testing according to EU requirements). When it comes to testing, it depends on whether you can provide up to date test reports or not - corresponding with EU requirements. If you can, then it's less likely (not but impossible) that your EU customers would need re-testing. That said, if the test reports are outdated, or the product or material has been modified, then testing could be required.

Ok, so it is more simple than first appears in that if the product is the same as tested and in a recent timeframe that still corresponds to the EU Regulations, then the importer will be fine to use our Docs and Certs. The term "Verify" is quite a loaded one, although, once looked at properly and within the terms above is is simple. Thanks again!
What about Parts? Parts of used old laboratory equipment, we have many customers from the EU, that buy from us, they are not labeled with a CE marking does not have a DoC or anything they are electronic parts, would that be excluded? or how ca it be handled?
100,000s of small businesses selling used, vintage items etc (not antiques) will be forced out of business as it is impossible to comply for these items. People will lose livelihoods and stuff will have to go to landfill
Im a small Business owner in Germany reparing/restoring and/or just reselling old Electronics. I feel like the EU wants to do everything in it's power to keep me from doing my job. First this Lucid crap then we were given a tax on our package material and know this. What if I have no idea were my product came from because I bought from some friend or in a flee market or without the original packaging?
Hello Ingrid, The RoHS Directive specifically sets substance restrictions for electronic components. It also covers CE marking and other labelling and documentation requirements. The REACH regulation covers essentially all consumer goods - and sets a far broader range of substance restrictions and reporting requirements There is of course a lot more to say but this is the simplest way I can summarise this just as I am about to head to the office
The problem with LLMs is that they do not always give correct information. That said, it can still help you understand requirements by using "natural languages". You get more value out of it if you explore a topic from different angles

No, this is only relevant if you sell in the EU (and I think identical requirements still exist in the UK). That said there are similar documents in the US - namely the GCC and CPC.

I work for Excosoft; a software company that provides a CCMS for creating, managing, translating, and delivering end-user technical documentation for various products, including machinery. The new Machinery Regulation (MR) introduces new possibilities and requirements for providing end-user technical documentation and instructions for use (user assistance) for machine manufacturers. However, I find some aspects to be somewhat unclear. What are your thoughts on the following points: * A machine manufacturer can provide user assistance solely in digital form, but online delivery is not a must? It seems to be implicit that if user assistance is not available online, it means it has to be delivered in printed form. If the manufacturer provides online user assistance, it must also be supplied in printed form upon request. * It seems that simply providing PDFs of user assistance is not sufficient. Would you say that the following scenario is unacceptable under the new MR? A manufacturer makes PDFs of manuals available on their website and puts a QR code on the machine interface that links to the PDF on the website. * Chapter II, Article 10, bullet 7 states, "Such instructions and information shall clearly describe the product model to which they correspond." How should this requirement be understood? For example, if a manufacturer sells variants of a machine (different pre-configurations) and creates one (1) PDF manual covering all variants, the user of a certain variant would need to identify the relevant pages for their specific machine variant and ignore the irrelevant ones. If a user mistakenly follows instructions valid for a different variant (thinking the page is valid for the variant the user is using) and this results in damage or injury, is the manufacturer in compliance with Chapter II, Article 10, bullet 7?
We have not checked the status for every EU regulation and standard mentioned, but it is likely that many are still relevant in the UK as well UK REACH would be one such example
What certificate? Never heard of a GDPR certificate. Are you referring to a test report? If yes, then it can cost anything from a few hundred dollars to infinity depending on the number of products, materials, EN standards, and so on. GDPR compliance is not a matter of obtaining or buying some kind of certificate.

I cannot recall this being addressed in the microplastics amendment. If I remember correctly, it concerns cosmetic products - for now. It's possible that it will be expanded in the future, but not sure what that would look like or how it will be measured.
Hey, thanks for the great video. I am trying to get the CE marking for a self build lamp which contains an LED strip with 24V. If I understand it correctly my lamp only falls under the low voltage directive if the input or output is 75-1500V DC right? Does that mean the LED strip with 24V does not fall under this CE directive? Would love to hear your feedback! many thanks!
This is explained in Article 16 of the GPSR Article 16(3): The name, registered trade name or registered trade mark, and contact details, including the postal and electronic address, of the economic operator referred to in paragraph 1 shall be indicated on the product or on its packaging, the parcel or an accompanying document. WTF are those things in EU? I am a Chinese trader who has been supplying EU goods for a long time. Most of our Chinese traders have now given up on the EU market. We believe that these certificates are completely detrimental to European trade. Because even if we sell to EU customers, the price of the goods will be several times the price in North America. The fact is that if you sell through an e-commerce platform, the product will most likely not be over-packaged.
