I'm thinking about building my own. Either a quality plywood or oak. Maybe a mixture of each. Unless you were to build one out of diamond plate, nothing is secure enough to leave unattended overnight in a hotel parking lot. Nice box but not $600 nice.
@@MightGoFishin-ks1by since I accidentally backed this one into my garage I do plan on building my own next time. You are correct though it only keeps people honest. If they really wanted in they would get in. Also they could easily break my truck window and steal all my stuff also 🤣
so when i load my kayak on top of my car, i need to put the bottom side on the ground first.... can the rudder be raised up so it wont be between the kayak and the ground?
@@PartyOnGardy their new ones are a little longer but that weird it didn’t fit your kayak. I would contact berley pro customer service they should help you out. They are a good company. I e installed about 20 of these on customers boats and never had one not fit correctly.
Any tips on the inital installaltion on getting craddles the right width for you kayak. Looking at doing this for Hobie outback 2023. Do you do front and bow straps or just roll with the ones on the craddle?
@@gregwest7825 thanks for watching! When I set up my cradles I put the back left one on first and tighten it all the way down and install the rest of them snug about the distance I think I’ll need. Then I push the kayak up on the rack and adjust them as needed then tighten back down. I only use the 2 straps across the kayak. I’ve traveled across the country like that with no problems.
How cute are you too. Great video. I'm pretty sure we will be adding both the 'tail and tacos to our menu soon. Keep them coming. P.s. you both filmed well and talked clearly and at an easy pace to listen too. Loved the Watson ice trick.
How much water was in the front? (if you remember) The old Outbacks are rated at 300lbs and at 220 I get a full inch of water on the floor above the drivewell.
there was about a half inch of water. The passport 12 would definitely work better for me better if I was going to chose the passport as a long term kayak for me.
Nice, popping cork never fails! I miss the yak fishing so much, if you ever have an extra yak and want some company give me a holler. I’ll bring the drone 🫠
It’s such a nice looking yak, but I have some friends that are having trouble with getting hobie to take care of warranties. This is also trailer only type of kayak.
@@Gator-xi2jq I work part time at a dealer and have had very almost. I difficulty getting warranty claims approved for pretty much all issues. I put this kayak on my roof rack and in my truck bed easily but ma h people do trailer them
Does anyone use these for wildlife photography? Currently I use a pontoon with a trolling motor mounted port side, but it's usually just me so I'm thinking of going with a kayak like this for my photography
I know some people who do! I would look at the Hobie lynx. The pro angler is a great fishing platform but probably a little overkill for just photography. The Lynx is super lightweight but in my experience is just as stable as a pro angler.
@@SteegeFish thanks! I'll check that one out too. I may get back into fishing too. I hunt and do a lot of wildlife photography so I haven't fished as much because I want to stay married :).
It doesn’t track great without the rudder. I’ve fished in 1 for of water many times with and I leave my rudder down. It will just kick back if it hits the bottom. No need to pull it up
The thigh support is adjustable. It has a buckle strap on each side. As for speed I was consistently paddling 3-3.5mph with very little effort and it glides like a dream
Thanks for watching! Hopefully I’ll be getting some new videos up soon. Fishing has been tough over here lately in Panama City at least when I get time to fish
@@SteegeFish It just started picking up over here (Panacea, Steinhatchee, Carrabelle) Been hitting them pretty decently the past couple of weeks. I was in PC a couple of months ago and it was a bust for me
yes you do, its an awesome Kayak, if you really want it, have good credit and can pay the bill I'd just take a personal loan to get it, itll help your credit score, and get you an awesome kayak in the process
I stand all the time to sight fish. Also standing sideways to do that is no problem. It’s easier to just stand up regular and use the drive well hole though. I don’t film those type of tests for obvious reasons 😂
At just 66lbs this boat could easily capture the river fishing title. Only thing it lacks is a front storage hatch so you can keep a bit of gear inside the hull. I'd buy one tomorrow if they'd add that.
I do think some bow storage would make this kayak even better. You can add the small round hatch but that’s about it. A real hatch would have been cool
