Would you mind helping me figure out why my holes are not being cut out of my felt sheet. It’s still not cutting them out at all. I’ve increased the pressure but still no holes.😩
When cutting, there are two things to think about. Depth and pressure. The depth is the distance the blade needs to go through your material and the pressure is the force it needs to push through that material. To help, can you tell me if you are using a CM or SDX model of the SNC?

Is there any advantage of the brother embosser over the Zoom tool? As that is cheaper and has 3 tool heads. Can the emboss function be enabled and used with the Zoom tool?
They are designed for different applications. One is to etch/engrave into the surface (zoom tool) and the other to emboss/press into it (embossing kit). There really isn't a way to compare them therefore. With the zoom tool you don't have a smooth rounded embossing tip or the foam sheet that enables the machine to emboss into card. Likewise, the embossing kit doesn't have a sharp point on the tool and so can't etch/engrave the surface of metal. So, different tools for different jobs.

thank you so much for this video!!! this really helps me and my friend a lot. we're getting tired of our machine keeps giving inaccurate cutting for our stickers with the scan n cut function, using this methods give us more control 👍👍👍 we've tried this method and it works for us. I just use photoshop to make the cutting line and registration marks and export as jpg just like in the video. Then export to fcm using canvas workspace. Load it up to the machine and we're good!
Is it really worth the price or effort of Print to Cut? If you don’t line up the sheet on the mat exactly straight so you can exactly match the registration marks, it’s not going to help or am I missing something? If it’s slightly crooked then the marks won’t ever line up? Sounds like it might be easier to scan each sheet, crooked or straight, pick your offset and let it cut.
The advantage is that you avoid the variables that can occur on individual scans so if you're making a bulk load, you can guarantee the outline will be the same.
@@scanncuttutorials I appreciate you making this video and responding but you still have to manually line each page up exactly with the registration marks correct?
The machine scans the registration marks and automatically moves the cutting outline to match (with the official kit). With this method, it's a little less automated as you are having to manually line things up. Older CM models aren't compatible with the official kit tho so this is a potential workaround for them. For others it's a way of avoiding the expense of the official kit and ensuring a more consistent result.

If you want it and are in the US, a lot of retailers around the world will sell you it but won't ship it. Instead, they'll open the packet and email you the activation code.
Another brilliant tutorial John. Emma, my crafting buddie, and I have been talking about trying this for ages, just not got round to it. My head is now asking me if I could mark my universal pen holder alignment tool with a sharpie once I got the angle I liked so that I could align again. mmmm thinking hat going on.
That's certainly an idea but you might want to make that mark on the 'lip' of the alignment tool as it may rub off or transfer to another pen if it's on the bit where the pen touches the base.

If you search for the Rhinestone Starter Kit using Google you should find retailers in your region. As shown in the video about the Rhinestone kit on this channel, the kit contains an activation card to enable the feature in Canvas Workspace.
I have a sticky backed cardstock I want to cut with my Scan n Cut. I've had a play and the only setting I can find to adjust for the half cut is the pressure. It's still not quite right. The cardstock is thicker than the backing, so I really need more like a 3/4 cut. Do you have any suggestions for best settings to use? Thanks :)
With so many variables involved it's tricky for me to make any suggestions other than to keep trying various different combinations of depth and pressure with and without the half cut turned on (which would automatically reduce the depth cut based on the depth test applied at the initialization stage).
Hi, Enjoyed your video and the gentle pace. I only have a n SDX 900. It does not have a REGION EMBOSSING function on the menu. Only cut and draw. Can I still use this kit on my SDX 900? thanks
Whilst not 100% essential, especially if you have an SDX model, it can be very beneficial for the reasons you suggested or if it is the first time you are cutting a particular material.

Why does one need to pay $75 for a kit to use the emboss feature??? The emboss setting is an option in the machine, but unless you purchase the "kit" it is unusable. I love my SNC, but this is too much $$$.
The kit adds additional functionality to Canvas Workspace - for instance, being able to print from it, which you can't do when you first install it. There is also the sticker wizard that gets added which creates the perfect cutting outline for the predefined designs. If you create your stickers in other software, yes, you could do them with just the machine but there may be inconsistencies with the scanned outline.
I am not affiliated with Brother and so can not speak to supply or distribution. That would be a question to pose to Brother. I do know that with other kits, USA users have purchased from overseas.
Hi John! Thanks for the video. I was contemplating purchasing PrintToCut from New Zealand when I came across your video. Walking through the steps right now and got to the copy and paste to align the pieces and I don't see the green line. Is there a specific version of Word to use? Also, just to clarify in case it makes a difference, I'm in the USA and I was converting centimeters to inches.
It was at the 5:38 mark but I've figured it out. I had to check "use alignment guide" from the align drop down menu. So I was able to complete it and make the template. I haven't used it yet on the scanncut so that's my next step. Thanks for your quick response and for the video!
I bought this kit before Christmas and with your help made some wonderful cards. However, I'm having trouble finding more foil. Can I use another brand of foil? Thanks!
Hi first time I watched your videos and they were very good and very professional. Your accent is not hard to understand and being a former US Army Veteran/Retiree I'm familiar with European accents since I spent 11 years in Germany. Again thanks for all the info and it was well worth watching all of them. I got through most in one session and then finished the last 6 or so on day two.
