With a vast array of interconnected topics, I will be posting frequently with new terrarium builds, new animal unboxing and housing, new and existing projects and updates of old ones. I also intend to include some animal care guides, and other connected topics and projects, from collecting wild moss, to cultivating terrarium plants.
Lol I can't remember what it was now but I'm sure I've used it several times since. Thank you. What's your channel so I can have a look at your mantis videos?
@@themantisgarden Just realized original videos are on another channel: @Liam.2-xt7lc. They kind of suck, but it was a start; hopefully you think the new channel has a bit more value...
Not sure what kind of gentle waxworms you have there. I had a batch and was obligated to keep them in a glass tank with a metal screen top. They *chewed through* the sides of plastic tubs and plastic screen. They chewed through the lid of the cup I got them in overnight. That being said, I never had happier giant danio, anoles or house geckos than when I'd let them have a fat well-fed worm. One particularly cool thing I noticed was that they made their own heat as they nested in the bedding (I made artificial honeycomb with honey, bran and melted beeswax on crumpled wax paper). They were particularly difficult to separate out when they pupaed (you really left off how cobby and sticky their cocoons are and that they will somehow figure out how to put themselves right under the lid without exception, which is not a nice surprise)
i found a praying mantis once in my garden and I was so excited. They are my favorite insect and they are so alien looking. They have this intelligence to them that makes them almost unbelievable to witness. Would love to keep some as pets someday, ❤😊
Had to have them, your favourite colour!!! Those are cards between the enclosures so the mantis can't see each other and get stressed :) Ran out of black card so I'm going all rainbow for pride lol
Are you sure you didnt capture termites??? There is no clarity in the video.. its a blurr..they look like termites? Btw are the bots commenting here. They all sound same?
Can you please make a breeding guide for ghost mantises? I am soon going to get Ghost Mantis nymphs and I'm going to hopefully breed them, but I can't feel anything about breeding ghost mantises
That a good idea and excuse for a video! I have ghosts here but they're not quite ready for breeding. When they are I will be sure to either make a video or do a live stream. They're really easy to breed and not much to tell about them but I will try my best :)
oh wow I did not know the male could survive. Is the key giving her a cricket to stare at and never leaving them alone? I just discovered another larger channel that sure could learn from you.
I rarely lose a male, mate. Providing you supervise (and the mantis is large enough, very difficult with smaller species) you can prevent it and the male can go on to mate with several more females. That chewing his head off every time is a total myth, especially in the wild.
@@themantisgarden Hey...When I read this post during coffee this morning...Misopods is correct. It would be a great video if you shared your collection, and their names with both how people say it most commonly and then the proper way to say it...Who knows, you could set trend...LOL!!!
I'm constantly sending folks to "Google Translate" then go to "Latin" put in the scientific name and actually hear it pronounced correctly (or at least better than most college professors...LMAO!) Great video...!!!!
@@themantisgarden Same here..I had 3 years of it in school...Then I got to college and listened to it butchered by those who should know better, and worse...!!!...they would argue they are pronouncing it correctly...???...I love the new computer translators. Though not perfect they are way better at it than most for teaching the proper pronunciation...Thanks again for posting this video...
@@themantisgarden Yes...!!!...and sadly the computer voice that Google uses for Latin sounds very Italiensk...LOL!!!...but better than English accent...I list to both just to get a foundation and it is so funny how accurate the "English" pronciaiton (which is wrong) sounds to how many try to say these names...
99% of people tend not to realise that loads of words we use ever day are either straight Latin or derived from it so they already know how to pronounce some words by default lol etc, etc.
Indeed there is a blue one. These are my favourite species of all and I currently have over 130 of them including 2 very pregnant ones. They all stem from a blue coloured grandmother but no luck with this hatch so far :( Maybe next time. Thanks for watching.
Yes, mate. It's tiny there. With mantis it is "i" not "L" by the way. Common mistake as a lot of sellers use L which drives me nuts 😂 The maximum "L" any mantis can get to is L2. L0 == egg, L1 == nymph, L2 == adult. (sorry for the lesson but it really irks me lol)
What up mantis garden, currently thinking of making a terrarium and haven’t seen you guys in a while. Also keep up the good work on your channel. Cheers
