Hello, Ive had a look through your videos and wondered if you had a tour of the mantis you own? I would love to know more about your enclosures specifically for them, I think they are the sweet tubs behind you but wanted to check. Thanks.

Hi. Will. I use 4 litre toffee jars (old fashioned candy jars if you're American) for the larger mantis and I make my own enclosures out of sealed wood sheet and glass from picture frames for the mid-sized ones. I've never bothered doing a "tour" because the species types change on a weekly basis :) Good idea though, might do something after the silly season. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for the response, over Christmas too. Im in the U.K. so no silly names needed for me. I’ve watched and learnt a lot from your videos so thank you. There’s so many different opinions regarding enclosures hence the request for a tour, I like your set up as it’s more cost effective but others say glass isn’t suitable and they need more ventilation than plastic tubs etc. I would love to know your view on this hence the request for a tour. I have found the sweet tubs online and also found some square containers 21x17x29cm which I think I prefer as the opening is bigger, easier access for my fat hands to do maintenance. Thank you so much for your response, your videos are amazing. Have a good new year.

Hi again Will, Good to know! I get my jars from several places but I haven't bought any for a long time as I got a lot of free ones from a sweet shop in Manchester. They tend to give them away so they don't have to recycle them so all good. I've used the square containers in the past as well but I couldn't pass up the easy and free option of the toffee jars. Funny enough, I had this very conversation tonight about my enclosures as 99% of them are homemade or cheap containers I've found in pound shops etc. As far as ventilation is concerned this I find quite annoying, same with the spiders. The ventilation is generally to prevent mould, if you give the correct amount of water then mould is never an issue. Some odd species do like a bit of ventilation but not the 4 million holes that people tend to put in them, defeats the object of trying to keep in humidity and temperature. I will do something in the coming weeks now Xmas is over so I can get back to doing a few more videos as I was also rebranding logos and officially opening to the public. Thank you for your kind comments :)

Thank you Simon, So nice to have a sensible answer regarding humidity. I keep T’s too (it’s what led me to Mantis) and the conversations and miss information regarding humidity is so confusing for new comers. Your videos are so down to earth and your background gives you the correct knowledge, I love the fact that you read the scientific papers and don’t follow the sheep, I have new nice smelling fly cultures now. Oh no! Not opening to the public! I’ve spent so much over Christmas and I will have to support you because your amazing. Can’t wait for my first purchase from you now. Thank you so much and I look forward to your videos and buying from you in the future.
