Meet the Ahmansons, Howard, Roberta, and their son David. As a family, the Ahmansons read, worship, travel, watch films, sometimes hike, and dig into whatever subject comes up at dinner together. Conversation may range from the latest film to the hidden Christians in Japan after 1700 to Mayan religion. It all depends on what family members have been reading lately. At present, Howard is most deeply concerned with housing and land use issues, Roberta with art, religion, and journalism, and David on matters of film following his studies at the University of Southern California Film School.
Sovereignty jurisdiction patriotism flags is nothing more than just coercion of landowners that control it's people for personal benefits .. We can not create a species ambitions with the ownership of nations as that of neo_feudalism dictatorship... I need a human species ambitions to conquer space and time.. And personal ambitions with the method of divide and conquer I need to overcome at any cost.. because wars alway was between feudal ambitions.. and it never was the world population interests.
Very odd that his kind and California are lamenting the 1950s. The typical party line describes this as epoch of white supremacy, general evil doing and the like. My what a change of heart.
1953 yes a lot better venezuela Perez Jiménez: petrol & TV. however those that had controls in 1953 born in the 1890 1870. a different mentality & they experience the 1913 civilization, barneys propaganda bankers & merchant industrialist 2 wars & technology. Glad you somehow understand H G wells / and the different Feudalism that was not quite on the main stream however since yin & yang / the game of good & evil is modestly understood. Now existence can be better understood time to nourish the mind and slow down banking industry consumption and manipulation giving education a noble purpose & people learn how to think and not what to think.!!!
Unfortunately the Middle Class is largely what makes up the managerial class which is promoting all of the problems. The Middle Class is their own enemy.
Thanks, Eric. It was actually the backdrop for an artist doing work in our warehouse/event space. It is just his overspray, drips, and doodles. Makes for a colorful backdrop!
A fellow in Russia says the western elite is not helping their citizens. So these elites will be replaced based on what has happened throughout history. Adults don’t read books either. I mention reading books to other people and they said they don’t as don’t have time. These are intelligent educated people. Because of Citizens United our government controlled by billionaires
I mean...I see how the middle class is hollowing out, and left to the same policies I see a neo feudalistic society developing, but he's not making his case very well. Oh well, bought the book and hoping there's more meat in there.
There is too much alarmism about the perceived evil of the tech oligarchs. I’ve seen equally poor and drug addicted people who cause actual physical harm to people, who are not rich oligarchs at all. So evil is not the money in your bank account, evil is in the heart of all things. We must accept the evil of all things. Lions kill their prey. Do we hate lions and call them evil? No. We appreciate and respect the lion. This is the same with people who are oligarchs. You must respect them for what they have done rather than destroy them. Revolutionary counter culture is the death of society, we need stability not constant tearing down of hierarchies with more revolutions. Marxist Revolution, Nazi Revolution. No revolutions. I mean he is a social democrat I think, but still. Democracy has failed us. No com, no fas, no lib.
A few months ago there was only around 26 houses listed in Sioux Falls South Dakota. Today there is 785 listings on Zillow. Is a housing crash coming? Edit: 1:06:59
@@WyldeRatttzI wonder when I read a comment like this if the writer thinks all boomers think alike. The comment is humorous, I smiled and chuckled when I read it but it still leaves me wondering.
@@lazycat7409 Of course they're not all alike. I admire many boomers who were part of the hippie generation and helped create big and important changes in society, like the organic food movement. But the fact remains that most boomers are not that type of person. Most of them seem to be very narcissistic due to emotional neglect in childhood, which results in all kinds of awful behaviours.
"from now on, I do not know any countries anymore - all I know, are markets" → nxt step: burning down the USD. Stuff is now going to China. ... you cannot be so stupid to sanction the usage of USD - if you do such a thing, you WANT to shot your own leg.
@@johnmguzman7491 we can but underground is cheaper to heat and cool. Also, given the nature of modern war/terrorism, underground is safer from drones/missiles and prying eyes in the skies.
That’s the problem. As populations grow, freedom dies. Too many people means decreasing opportunity. Just the way it is. That’s why stable populations are desirable & growth is not.
Refreshing to hear someone who speaks against radical talking points on both sides of politics. Truly someone who just wants to see a better future for the people around him 😊
"Radical" just means "getting to the root of the problem". I think a better word for what you mean is "extreme". Extremist politics are scary from either side...
Wasted my time listening to this as I learned nothing. Speaker is a Trump hating California liberal that is careful of every word he speaks for fear of PC retribution. Intellectual level of abour a high school kid.
He makes negative comments and jokes about the Republican party during the presentation. All along bashing the outcomes and policies of Democrat ran city's and states. City's and states ran buy Democrats for decades and generations. While Californian's flee their state to some Republican ran communities for the real opportunities they have been falsely promised all these years. I'm left shaking my head at his bias as his strong message is slowed by the polarizing binary comments. Neither of these political parties are for our people. they only favor their followers, not us.
Interesting presentation. Joel finally gets to the root of it at 1:15:00: how do you find a way to pay people enough for their work they can also pay their rent? Bingo!.
Please loose forty pounds, Joel. You are cutting your life short and depriving your young offspring of a wise father during the years they will need you.
Joe Kotkin is basically a neo-liberal, T-Party hack who, like many old conservative boomers, is struggling to keep up and come to terms with the ongoing social, economic, environmental and political changes of our fast moving times. He tends to foster a disdain and contempt for many of those changes by blaming the younger generations for not following the old ideas, attitudes and paradigms of what is a mostly redundant bygone era, that Kotkin apparently believes should still be relevant today. No doubt he sees the past through rose tinted glasses of nostalgia and thinks everything was so much better when he was young and thinks young people today are not as smart as his generation and have no real idea what they are saying and doing. He describes most things as having gone to the dogs these days and the future looks bleak with dark foreboding skies of disaster waiting to destroy everything. That very negative outlook sells a lot of books both fiction and non-fiction and Mr. Kotkin is very much into writing and selling books, like many old academics do, to supplement their incomes and live the comfortable middle class dream. It is unfortunate though, that he makes money from misrepresenting and disrespecting the integrity, motives and genuine concerns of the younger generations, who are struggling to deal with the many social, economic, environmental and political problems that they have inherited from the boomers, who it appears did not have the foresight, resolve, integrity or wit to leave the world a better place than was given to them. I can only suggest that his next book should focus on the failures of Baby Boomer generation and his part in it.
Feudal economy depended on agricultural production. Nowadays with the pauperisation of theworking class and elimination of the middle class how corporations in a long therm will be able to sell their product? Shortly very few will be able to afford it.
He takes a jab at Trump at the beginning but had to recognized that middle class Americans made real gains for the first time in a long time. Even if he personally doesn’t like the man, he made the distinction between him and his achievements. This level of honesty is so rare among academics today.
Like on another podcast, Slotkin accurately highlighted everything President Trump has fought for and against on behalf of the Middle Class right down the line. But then in the other podcast, rather cowardly, covered his left flank by calling President Trump "despicable." Interesting, there has been no greater threat than President Trump to the elite globalists' obvious agenda of returning the world to what Slotkin correctly calls a new age feudal system, which is exactly why they as well Slotkin are constantly trying to brand President Trump with the same kind of slurs. Does Slotkin seriously think that a make nice Neville Chamberlain type, or, better yet, a Joe Biden will somehow smooth everything over and get the globalists, Putin, CCP, Iranian Mullahs, etc. to see the light, behave themselves and play fair and square? Slotkin darn well knows the answer is a flat no. This is a fighter's job. Again, Slotkin did a good job of highlighting the Trump Doctrine, but then dove head first into the foxhole in fear of The Left. These types are a dime a dozen.
Online capitalism has made it easier than ever to move upwards from the middle class. Why do you think there's so many people resigning from the workforce? They're tired of trading time for money and are building sustainable, compounding, passive income streams.
“It’s okay to be racist/transphobic, I also fell for the Fox News CRT hysteria, and I don’t know what to do about any of these problems, but someone please just fix the economy for my Orange County dwelling interests! Huh, progressive solutions? No not like that!” -Joel Kotkin
This guy’s whole presentation is presenting stats that Robert reich and Bernie have been putting into the public consciousness for over a decade while using republican talking points to criticize progressive efforts.
