He said Joughin survived the Titanic, and then after a time, Joughin sailed on and survived the sinking of the SS Oregon, however, the SS Oregon sank in 1886, so that’s impossible. Furthermore, Joughin was born in 1878, which means if he HAD been on the SS Oregon, he would have only been 8 years old at the time of the sinking, which is possible, but the facts are hazy. Interesting video, however I feel like this fella is peddling some bad information.
Amazing story I agree - I have not researched the life and sinkings of Joughin, I wonder if the gentleman is a little confused, I hope you will research this properly and come back and present the information right here, many thanks for excellent detective work
Saw lots of scooters yesterday... First time I've been to Chelmsford for over a decade. I know that they're geofenced, but what actually stops them from being knicked ?
Do not pass this on, as I have press access to the anti-theft set up. There is a dozen synchronised flight of armed drones which would neutralise anyone whoever is tampering, or trying to nick one.
If you can afford a booze cruise you can afford to splash, get it, splash the cash and hope that you can break off some ice from a passing berg to drink in on the rocks
Wow this brings back memories. I joined the Port New Plymouth as newly qualifies Radio Officer with first class PMG in Wirless Telegraphy in March 1961. I was very much the first trip junior under instruction to get my 6 months sea time in before being allowed to go solo. The vessel was launched in 1960 and the radio room comprised the Oceanspan 7. Salvor emergency transmitter and the Mercury Electra main receiver combination. I eventually left Marconi Marine and joined the Royal Fleet Auxiliary to continue my career
Lightoller is very much my hero to - he did not think twice when he was older to steer his 'little ship' towards danger, right to Dunkirk to pick up our brave soldiers from the beaches. A double hero. When the going gets tough, heroes run straight in to rescue.
I had heard he drank, Johnny Walker red label in his cabin, was below deck drinking and heard the ship groaning and starting to break apart. He climbed up to the stern and stood up as Titanic sank beneath him, he never even got his hair wet.
Probably the only person in the world to have their life saved by neat alcohol - everyone else destroys their livers, their family, and send them to Davy Jones locker before their time, funny old world. Only safe place to drink Johnny Walker is on board a doomed liner.
I couldn't do one night - I was held in police cells overnight and I had to lie down, eyes cold, put my feet up on the brick wall and think of England. No want everyone is smoking pot.
So pleased to finally upload it as a tribute not only to Jake the Snake, but everyone who contributed to a great night's entertainment, and congratulations to guys like yourself who worked behind the scenes with promotional events, and you have the scars to prove it!
Yes, the times are a changing, as always, glad you liked the music - they were the best songs regarding cycling I could find on YT, the last one of course from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid which may not have been very accurate and it romanticised a couple of bankrobbers, but thats showbiz!
Because the good book says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, that everyone is a sinner, some saved by Grace, I wonder if any statues should be put up to anyone. In the end statues of human beings get torn down by either the good guys or the bad guys, it could be said to be a form of idolatry, I dont even agree with statues of the saints or Jesus, better spend the money or the living not glorifying the dead - because we just dont know everything about them, only God above.
that was same type of radio room, MIMCco, I had in my first ship, on 1966. M/v Activity/HOWZ ex Kaladan/MBPX until 1963. No more than 100W in antenna, just like a lamp power. Noneless I was able to communicate with whole word coastal stations from any ocean
Thanks Alan for bringing me back in time. Beautiful old fashioned Marconi equipped radioroom. 73's fm an ex sparks (Radio Holland). Still using cw as PA5ABW.
Glad you enjoyed it - hope you will one day visit Sandford Mill, Chelmsford, where this was recorded. When you do let me know and I will video you for a further CRHnews video.
Yes an amazing story, its the mystery of life as to why some survive disaster and others perish. At the end of the day we all fall victim to the Grim Reaper, so what matters is whether we have made our peace with the man above.
I met her in person when I was in London back in 2011 (I'm originally from USA). Really down to Earth. I wonder how she's doing and would like to say hello to her. Otherwise, wish all the best for her.
I too would love to know that she has survived and is stronger - great personality and good enough to have her say. I will have a look on social media and catch up right now ...well here is the latest link, but back in 2016 home.bt.com/news/odd-news/lady-jet-black-british-billionaire-youtube-11364035317948
no evidence on jeremy ,try and look at the evidence that should have been there BUT WASNT .NO bullet lubricant of faint black marks on her hands despite her loading the magazine twice with at least 14 bullets.NO gun shot residue on her nightie despite her firing 25 shots.NO backspaltter of blood from the victims on her nightie despite most of the shots being point blank and NO blood on her nightie from the violent fight with neville in the kitchen.its safe to say it wasnt her so it could only be jeremy.pause the clip at 2.28 and you will clearly see a mirror image of a blood stain in the middle of the pages this could only have been done by closing the bible while the blood was still wet impossible for sheila to open ,close than open the bible again after being shot .hence the bible was placed there to stage the scene
I covered this appalling crime right from the start for the press and remain convinced that although JB did not do the killing, he jolly well knows who did. Thus when he denies physically killing his adoptive parents and their adoptive daughter and her two sons, he is speaking the truth. People behave oddly at funerals, its only natural, but to put on make-up to look 'pale' and a performance to match, is best described in French as bal-masque - look it up - I attended the funeral and will never forget JB emerging from the chapel, looking to me like he was wearing a mask of grief. I felt like walking past the mass ranked of press photographers and demanding that none of the victims were cremated because it would destroy the evidence for good. But I was too scared of getting sacked and bringing shame upon my newspaper.
@@CourtRedhandedNews excellent post.if only the police had the same gut feeling as you ,there were family members who could not believe neville n june wanted to be cremated ,theres a mountain of trial evidence ,statements, and crime scene photos,on the UK JUSTICE FORUM site free membership and well worth joining to make a informed decision
Yes, it was fantastic re-telling the story, if only it were possible to hear it from him first hand, another Wild Exclusive for CRHnews to share on RU-vid, Charlie was the original Able Baker
Herol, an absolute legend. I have all the respect in the world for this man and in my personal opinion he is the greatest boxer Britain has ever produced.
Actually Morse code was a very sophisticated communication. In (ideal) Morse one dash has the same duration as three dots. Morse reasoned the more dots and dashes for each letter the longer the message would take to send, so he identified the most commonly used letter in the English language, the letter E = one dot, second most common I = two dots, S = three dots, T = one dash, and so on... Worked on many ships as an RO and ended up at Portishead Radio - GKA - Quite a shock as to work there your Morse had to advance to 27 wpm...with no errors...
Fascinating story of a brave seafarer told eloquently by his justly proud daughter. Given his name and surname and that his mariner's ticket has a harp on it's cover, it seems he was Irish. If so he was one of many Irish radio officers who gave invaluable service in war and peace to the Marconi Company and to the British War effort. First and second class certificates of competency for r/o's were replaced by a general cert in the early 70's which meant a lower morse speed of 20 to 25 words per minute, down from the 1st class requirement of 40 wpm. Having a first class ticket meant a fellow was really top of the range and stood a better chance of getting a plum job on a cruise ship!
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Hate to be that guy, but there's more than one version. I've read various accounts over the years, and I suspect that Charles may have added a few 'embellishments' to his account of his experiences on that night. Just my opinion, so don't shoot me down.
