Never actually witnessed a single dog respond positively to trazadone, they may be drugged out, but they always seem nervous and uncomfortable. Like, it's good we're not using ace (going to the ace place) anymore but the -done zone- is no good. I wish Gabapentin worked on dogs the way it works on cats. :/
Bacardi came with her name. Kraken was Mardi when we got him, but we couldn't have Mardi and Bacardi, so we went with a ~*~Theme~*~. Venus was my baby, and she was a true goddess of love, (she crossed the rainbow bridge on Valentine's day, too) and Dusty was found in a dusty apartment. I also know a Sagan and Kepler, and their dog friend* Laika, and Leia. (They are not friends with the dogs, but their parents are!)
😂I'm the cat owner one but have dogs...I dress like the dog owner (I actually own that hat)... when the vet asks what mine are I literally say idk I think he's the kind that's on that one movie then describe the movie before mentioning that I'm sure he's probably mixed with pit bc his mom looked like part pit. I had one I got off Craigslist and one that wandered up with his mom and sister... they all got adopted and my husband went and adopted the boy one for me while I was in the hospital. All I know is I'm so very blessed to have these two as brothers and besties for each other and as toddlers who shed all over my... everything.
My oldest cat was left on the doorstep of our friends who recently lost a cat, they gave her to us because we'd also just lost a cat and my brother and I were very young. Our second cat was left in our front rose bush, she was abandoned there because she had horrible fleas and we fed the stray cat colony she came from every night, so they knew our yard was safe. One time she got out but only got as far as that rose bush because she was hanging out with her father, they had a good relationship.
Lol by the end, our cat wanted a particular more expensive food in gravy, but he would only eat the gravy! As for our dog, he was thirteen years of constant health problems. Felt like we should almost move in above the vets!
One of my colleagues had a cat named "puri" (after the Indian flatbread), which unfortunately is pronounced the same way as the local word for "rotten". It then got renamed "Mister cat" in spite of being a female...
My cat's activity level is me running away from him to jump on a stool in the kitchen as he jumps on a different stool and me running to the sofa in the living room as he chases again. Do that 15 times until he lays down on my feet to stop me from moving.
Oh my God, r the same clients calling you and then our pet hospital??? Take way to many of these like calls working up front. Please, I except all prayers from everyone that I don't crack one day!! Thank u for understanding all us whom deal with this everyday....😂
I have Clue. nobody can say I don't have a clue.. because I have one and he is gray and white ..but actually named after Inspector Clouseau from the pink panther. for obvious reasons. My mom had an outdoor feral she took care of named None. It always took back the people at the vet office with the Name: None. and they'd be She doesn't have a name!?! no, her name is None. She got the name because when she was a kitten, she and her brother were so sick, they could be caught ..so mom did and took them to the vet, but she didn't want to get too attached because they were so sick so she named them Slim and None for their odds of living. But that one extra vet visit (all the feral cats got one visit if they could be trapped for spay/neutering) gave her such an advantage that in the end, Slim and None were the longest living feral cats in the colony ..eventually Slim disappeared and then there was None. (so many puns) She was smart and kept close to the yard so even when she was going deaf, she avoided the coyotes and cougars, etc. She was None: The Wiser. None passed away this year at the remarkable age of 18 (trust me, colony cats don't usually live that long) So here is to None. She was great. She refused to be tamed and lived life her way.
My cat's name is Captain, or Cattain, or Cappin, but usually I just spot her and do a funny voice and go BEAST and she understands I'm talking about her.
When I can finally have a cat or cats of my own, I'm naming at least one "Professor Emeritus". I'm also holding onto "Full English" and absolutely stole "Emtarkanderundersgunderson" from a Strong Bad Email.
In high school, i worked at a vet cleaning the cages. There was one cat, Rufus, who was Satan in his earthly form. All other cats worship him. A friend who worked there too. We discussed splashing Rufus with holy water, but figured he'd burst into flames.
My 17 yr old cat became diabetic. It was one of the hardest things i ever had to deal with since i lived an hour from a vet, so balancing the blood sugar was really challenging. And i was broke so i couldnt afford the overload of vet trips, added gas, and lifelong meds. Most people wish to win the lottery for things for themselves. I wished and prayed for it so i could be as good of pet parent as someone who could afford an animal with diabetes. It survived about 8 months and im sure it died because i was trying to balance its blood sugar on my own without driving to the vet twice a week. (I was making the trip every other week. Sometimes every week if i could)

I had a cat called Seefer...(C for cat). A dog called "Syndrome". So I could tell him get DOWN....Down Syndrome! and another dog I called Herpes....because he just wouldn't heal! A few cats just called "Cat"....more than few actually. An X of mine had a hamster called Slobodan.
Dr. Bozelka, your videos are great. Can you do one on hunger aggression? I have a cat who is sweet and cuddly except for when he is hungry. He bit me hard and I got an infection that needed to be treated with 3 antibiotics. My hand got in between him and his bowl. Any tips are appreciated.
When I was a new Lab mom, a pizza was delivered and I left the box on the coffee table. I went upstairs for a few minutes and the pizza was completely gone. 😂I was so naive! I thought she couldn’t get to it because it was in the box. Hahahaha wrong!
