The old fish preparation videos, made in the back garden a long, long time ago are still very popular, so we'll leave them on here for now, but we'll be updating this channel with lots of new content. If there's anything you'd like to see let us know - info@passionateaboutfish.co.uk
Hi, I have a question I hope you might be able to answer for me. I've been eating sardines and mackerel fresh from the supermarket. I love them, and I've been eating them at least twice a week. I followed your video when the fish money who used to gut the fish for me was no longer there and I had to do it myself. But today when I was gutting the sardines I found lots of parasites in them. They looked like little worms. I was going to take them back to the supermarket but I've read there are parasites in all fish?? Is this so and if so is cooking enough to kill them? I also read you should freeze them first for 7 days before cooking. I don't want to stop eating my fish but this was seriously gross and worrying cos I don't want parasites. I have enough stomach issues as it is. 😞 Anyway I remembered this video and wondered if you might have some advice please?
Thanks for such a clear and complete demo. That must be one of the best explained videos I've seen on YT! And well done for not having annoying and pointless music on the sound track. I'm just going to fillet my first plaice now.
Hi Duncan. Just followed your tutorial as I got a large monk fish fir a dish. My gosh…I watched the video. Managed to prepare my fish. Was a bit of a smelly experience..😂😂..but without this video I would not have done such a good job. Regards.

This video is superbly made. I prepared a lobster for the first time today, exactly as you did in the video. My guests were very impressed Thank you very much
Thanks for that, really helpful. Guessing the choice of blade helps,..... you used a fairly rigid one, whereas I have used a fairly flexible/thin blade for Mackerel and other bony fish? Happy to buy Gurnard now, looking forward to trying one.
