"It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for - and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool - for love - for your dreams - for the adventure of being alive."
Nathan, I just want to say that your channel is wonderful, my friend. You have a beautiful mind. It takes me time to internalize and fully grasp the deep implications of what you share in the Dialogos, as my mind works slowly. But when I do, it leaves a lasting impression. These practices and spaces are truly needed, so keep up the great work. I believe it will soon flourish in even bigger ways for you. I'll recommend your channel and hope it continues to grow. 🙂
@@yoganandavalle Thanks Pablo, the language is slowly getting clearer for me, so hopefully it's getting clearer in the videos too, but lots of questions as to the how and cultural side of this, what's a culture of know thyself? Thoughts always appreciated 🙏
Hi Stephen, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on depersonalization. Is it a positive or a negative? Or is there a developmental model in your understanding of it? Alway a joy to open a conversation 3 levels deep. Regards, Nathan
So happy i found this. This is my Jam bra!!!❤ Introducing the tension idea is sublime, because i realized a long tine ago sitting with myself was like sitting on a magnate. My thoughts Literally made me jump up and seach for a lost sock or something. Thanks for making me see that leaning into the tension is kinda the way.❤😅 Thanks for the value.
Bait and switch: 46 seconds of Jim Carrey talking and then some unknown guy blathering the rest of the time (while still using video of Carrey to try and keep the attention of people who otherwise wouldn't bother). Nope.
You can do what i did.. die. By your own hands. I found myself below rock bottom. I found levels that went about 100 stories below rock bottom. Afterwards, i found my mind was blank. I had no thoughts, no ideas, no clue who i was, or who i was supposed to be. So i got to restart from the beginning, and build the constructs that form the thought processes that would guide the rest of me from the ground up. I found true peace. All it took, was wiping my mind clean and staring into the darkness with nothing looking back at me. Not everyone comes back. But if you do, you get to program yourself to be who you want, rather than who you think others want you to be.
It's been a while since I did this video, but it feels more like endless rebuilding rather than a landing zone 😅 I'm enjoying the process though, and and trying to build something I can be proud of, so I definitely resonate with that Hope you are keeping well now yourself ❤
It's more an artistic interpretation of where I believe Carey has found himself. At base level, it's what resonated in me when I tried to conceptualise his thinking through his movies and interviews
... as a German Biologist - 10 000 years ago we discovered Domestication and Genetic Engineering in the vastest sense this accelerated fast into a synthetic Techno Sphere- that destroys the Biosphere. Our natural mental Emotional Operating System loses all Instincts and Intuition so we become hyper progammable Sheeple - who follow any Idiot and Psycho Path Tyrant Hi Jacker... We believe what we are conditioned to - and sense PAIN - when this is questioned... This is a self destructing path. With luck we can sense to be off the trail - leading to the Abyss and may be - STOP treading on... may be not... Evolution by Self Extinction...
I dig this and try to work this out by creating ambient music via high tech gadgets and synthesizers. Deep inside I feel like a neo-luddite but I venture to express this with technology. The tension created by this absurd prospect keeps me energized.
Can I play devil's advocate? We've also developed a concept of virtues and chivalry. Or at least Ken Wilber's integral theory supports the idea of a development of human's through time. Or you can think time and progress is very strictly circular. Which in that case there is no such thing as progress. Mary Harrington speaks well on this. All to say, how long do you think it'll be before we; "sense to be off the trail - leading to the Abyss and may be - STOP treading on..." ??
@@cyc-chooseyourchaos3974 WE who is WE???? You and... you find ... you are lonely in the SAHARA where you do not want to meet aynone as he will kill you to get all the water at your water hole... so you camouflage as a Chamae Leon to be in Visible We...
As long as your character fits into the life immediately in front of you, in your family, community, etc., then sure, take on the hero's journey and make sure the larger system is aimed towards something good. But there is no non-fitted space. We are fitted creatures. So sending love to you and your nested communities ❤️
This man does not need fear based religion to guide him, I just experienced an ego death and this is real... It's letting go of things that no longer serve you... Keep your religion to yourself because anyone shoving things down others throats are the ones that need saving. You won't ever find if you don't look...
I do not recognize anything glorious in conquest (invading, killing, taking over, forcing my views). I do not see anything glorious in obtaining fortune (materialism is nothing but poison to the soul and spirit). I do not recognize anything glorious in religion (man made constructs to obtain obedience and an army to kill those who do not agree or fall in line). There is glory in nature. There is glory in the strength of the individual to overcome obstacles that threaten to destroy the very soul. There is glory in striving to lift the spirit to the next level. Whether you believe in spirituality or not, there is glory in finding your own truth and rising above the din that surrounds you.
Glory isn't a safe thing, that's what I was hoping to catch in this video. But when aimed correctly, even Fortune can be a good glory. As for the glory of finding inner strength, I agree. And Separating noise from signal is the age old challenge to find what's relevant to be humble to
You're the first person I ever heard use the word "valorize"(I live in North America. My country has national standards for public education, unlike our two neighbours - and too much U.S. media). You are more cogent than Jordan Peterson (I dislike self-righteous indignation - which means I can be that way, play that character, but always regret doing so). I'm not an atheist, nor am I a theist, not that it matters in this context. One one my updates has been the rejection of binary thinking. A coin has three, not two, sides, and close-ended questions bore me to distraction.
I can't say I know where I picked it up, but valor and honour have been coming up lately. Holding them separate from moral judgements but holding them none-the-less might be constitutional for the legacy we leave behind. I like your turn to a trinity. Our brain works differently the moment there's a third anywhere, that's part of what my workshops make use of (try having a private argument in front of someone - obviously they can make it worse, but for the people trying to resolve, a third person gives "an out" without having to resolve, and that can be an ultimate kindness. Can always come back to it later). All to say I hope you are meetig your day well, and there's certainly a lot of conversation needing to happen, so apologies for overflowing. Light and Love Mr.Late 🙏
Thank you. John Vervaeke has helped me digest that beyond language quality. He has 4 Ps Propositional (language), Procedural (you can't talk your way to riding a bike), Perspectival (flash memory/imagination), participatory (our sense of self when in relation in the world). Sorry if that's a bit of a bore, but I've found comfort from it as I'm looking at what I'm looking for (which is of course also beyond words). Sending you love wherever you are
Chapelle makes $63M a year!!! I don’t think he’s that f-ing funny. Sick world when so many people are suffering. And people praise Chapelle and throw $63M at him A YEAR! For telling standup jokes?
I'm curious where you think we should limit our pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful to? I do believe comedy functions to open us up when done well, but there are many avenues to get us unstuck when pursuing our north star. What do you suggest we hold highest? (putting aside the precise figure of reward)
Thank you for this video! Paradox that I have been pondering on since I was 16: personal development vs spiritual growth. I see them as quite opposite, as one is about strengthening your sense of self, developing your persona, and the other one is letting go of your attachments, of your ego, the sense of self. I used to think I have to choose one or the other. Now I am considering that there is a possibility to foster both. But so what are the next steps? Learning more about this paradox and developing wisdom? There are so many perspectives on this... and I believe that it's not ever possible to find one single ultimate truth. There are just perspectives. Another paradox: how much I should focus on my own growth and how much focus on helping others. I think I've been doing the first one way more... Anyway, just some thoughts:) Cool channel, subscribed.
I think it's a constant course correction between self and spirit. Yin-yang has been a powerful symbol to dig me out of the Safety of just one. I also have a Jekyll and Hyde pipe that I meditate with. And of course I've the weekly practices of dialogos. So the answer is just like fighting. It's best to find a martial art to acquaint yourself with violence, and then you're best able to navigate the spectrum of violence down to the small relational or non-verbal. My bet is that the void that we've to sit back into to keep course correcting between paradoxes is the same. So find a void/paradox relating practice ❤️ And if there's any you already have familiarity with, I'd love to hear what's helping, because I don't know the big story that will help us see this struggle in each other easier 🙏
Thank you, Jim Carrey, for being open about your "Awakening"!! There is so much value and purpose in you speaking the truth! I hope many souls get this truth because of your openness!!! 💜💜💜
Since In Living Color!!! I have a bit of "wacky characters" inside of me as well! But am much older than you, I am 65! To understand what you were saying at the Icon thing, endeared me more to you! We need your light shining on the darkness!! Thank you for your tenacity to reveal the truth!! 💜
This existence is an expression of energy, god, infinite intelligence boundless deathless nothingness. IAM grateful for the gift of seeing the illusion of me❤🙏
I love the lilting tone of your voice... And honestly you're very intelligent and that's always easier to listen to for me. I was once a counselor and my major in university was jungian psychology. I've been a professional astrologer for years but now I am definitely going full time with that and I think archetypes as well as the zodiac signs as symbology can help with integration of the whole self.
Thank you, always nice to get a compliment. And I love camping, largely for those nights when I can lay back and look at the stars. I haven't dug into the stories behind any of them, still learning to identify the constellations, but if you know any parables from those stories I always love hearing new ones :)
@@cyc-chooseyourchaos3974 I would hear that the stars burned out already We were only seeing them here because they were so far away It took that long. That used to really bum me out when I was a kid And I refused to believe it later on in college I was studying about certain Inuit beliefs and the ones that say the stars are actually portals for our lost loved ones on the other side who went really lost it all but just waiting to be reunited with us and that's how they looking at us and watch.us from afar. No I realizing modern science that sounds even more preposterous than burnt out already lights that far away but I can understand how one would get some comfort from it as primitive and simplicity filled as it sounds I prefer believing that's possible I've lived almost so I don't want to say how long I've lived I feel ancient right now hahaha My birthday is coming up this month and I feel like I'm already wearing my future corpse today. But the longer I live the more I'm willing to suspend what I thought I believed about something and open my mind. There's so much more than what we call coincidence of timing God's timing nature's time in college what you will to everything there's a season and the things I thought I'd never live through because my heart was breaking or I was that enraged or that confused or that ridiculously done with it? Longer I lived more I realized what a minor player I was in greater story of everything human and it was necessary for me to get to the parts of now that were worth sticking around for to sometimes have to feel like whoever is writing this script (life that is) had in for me lol... My oldest brother when he was alive he used to tease me about that about some of the excess of interesting events happening to or around me He would always ask me if there was a writer's strike or did they just have something against me with the script lol yep yep Good channel I subbed.
It has been on the Gen X. Our entire lives. We have been the pillars that have held up society. We are the ones who have been fixing the cracks in foundations. All our lives. Just wanted to let people know thar Gen X has been doing the hard work and fighting the true evils for all our lives. We need to be recognized
Also note that we Generation X have the practical blueprints. We have for detail practical solutions for each of the worlds problems. We generation, X are also very much ready to step up in the leadership positions, and the top tier of the world. We Generation X have been developing our plans, developing a leader ship, and prepared to be the next great kings of society, all of our lives. When we finally are given positions of power, we will be able to implement all of our solutions.
@@markfennell1167very good to hear another xer mobilizing because I know many of us just accepted the shit end of the stick and I don't want it like that.... Imma gonna fight for the parts of it that I consider my own hill on which I'm willing to die... the boomers kinda sent some mixed signals to us like "save the planet" while their actions clearly said "fuck the earth" and I don't think that is very ok...
@@markfennell1167 Well there's definitely something to be said about gen x and the seats of power. And I can agree that gen x has detailed out solutions for each of the worlds problems, although I hesitate with just how many problems there are now. But there isn't a grand narrative to unite a people. And without a grand narrative to hold it all together, it becomes the government's job to hold people within a legislative union and that's a grand danger. So the heavy lifting in the details of the solutions might belong to gen x, but the heavy lifting of coordinating and sharing a common union that moves through generations might be the millenial's cross. What do you think? I do see the public theologians emerging from gen x, but they don't make a generation, they inspire the next.
IDK if it exists but I feel like we need an app for creator communities to be able to connect with other fans in their area. For instance, I love this podcast MSSP with Shane Gillis and Matt McCusker. It would be awesome to meet other people into the pod that live around me cuz we would for sure hit it off as friends.
The workshops I do each week definitely scratch this itch for me (they follow john Vervaeke's work). So I definitely agree that it's really nice to meet people through these spaces. I do worry that such an app would cause us all to niche down. But I understand the frustration of having knowledge or a reflection that is difficult to share to people outside a specific youtube ecosystem (and we're finally realizing that online comments don't fully address that need). Just wait until you can make a quality short movie with AI next year and you'll call people into your tribe no bother 😂😅
@@cyc-chooseyourchaos3974 Yeah man. The RU-vid comments are goofy, no one even sets up a basic profile. At least on Instagram you know who you’re talking to. So I actually just came across John’s work last week. I’m into it. If you have any videos of his that you recommend that would be brilliant. I’m trying to get into his meaning crisis series at the moment. But it’s way too much it’s like 55 hours LOL. My areas of interest are aesthetics and virtue ethics. I’ve really narrowed my focus into the nature of beauty, art, and self expression. Aka the creative / material expression of all these ideas we hold so dearly
