Elevators and more! Welcome to Star City Elevators! Subscribe to take a virtual ride on some different kinds of elevators, and a little bit more! I pride myself on keeping this channel appropriate for all ages. Grab a Mountain Dew, some popcorn, and enjoy as I show off these amazing machines! I am based in Lincoln, NE and film elevators primarily in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Missouri, and Kansas.

It looked much better when it was original, but they could’ve done worse. At least Innovation Universal fixtures are OK (I believe they’re based on Dover’s original Traditional fixtures). Seems to ride nicely, but I bet the old one had a more fun ride. The doors should’ve stayed blue outside. Why does everything new have to be ugly neutral colors?? Modernized by Thyssen Krupp, but no distinctive Dover chime.
Basically at my former high school, the outer indicator number shows on all floors instead of the primary floors probably an Otis series 4 but with a series 5 indicator inside.
I quite like TK, but it’s ugly (as you said, they should’ve made the side walls glass), and has absolutely no right nor reason to be MRL. In other words, I don’t like this one at all.
I was there today. Starts were often accompanied by loud thuds, it occasionally rattled (which is a lot for a hydraulic), stops were sudden, and it was really slow, even for a hydraulic. It’s tired. Interesting chime. Not a TK chime.
The other day, I went to take some rides on these and film them, but after it stopped on the 5th floor without opening the doors (had to press the button myself), I cancelled the rest. They were rattling around pretty badly, and weren’t about to die with me in them.
I wish I’d managed to film them when they were still original (I didn’t even know what elevator filming was at the time). The doors still close as soon as they are legally allowed to (three seconds) after opening them, like an ADA-compliant Westy, and they’re still labeled as Westinghouse. They also don’t ride all that well; they rattle and shake a bit (I was there tonight). Sometimes there’ll be a slam when the doors open. Also, SCC had better have a very good reason for not having that clock anymore. Also, does Park & Go realize these are city owned garages with public access? A certain sign seems to suggest otherwise.
Thet really need to stop installing EcoDiscs. Ideally, that would mean installing proper machine roomed traction elevators (especially preferable with more than four levels) or hydraulics. If they insist on MRL traction, at least put in something like a ThyssenKrupp Synergy!
These ride surprisingly smoothly, but why the hell would you replace a machine roomed traction with an MRL?? Also, definitely don’t do more than one garage in one day during office hours, or even just after. They don’t like it (found that out the hard way). Plus, it was a really nice vintage Westy before.
I went to film these earlier tonight, as I was in the KRH/Lied Center area. This one’s been modernized (honestly needed as these were death traps way too often), and the other one’s in the process. I’m kind of sad, but not as much as I am about some others. I do wish they weren’t maintained by Kone, though.
Probably a originally a DMC. TKE is recommending building owners with a DMC (came out in 1985) to upgrade as the parts for DMC boards are few and far between.
