Hi Doctor great video thanks for uploading. I also have a bucket tear of the meniscus lateral side. I'm due for surgery and hopefully they will be able to repair it. My surgeon has expressed he wants to repair it, nut will only shave the damaged area if its ratty and bad. They've told me abiut 6 weeks for recovery. It's been very painful for the last 6 months andI can't wait, very excited for surgery. I guess every case is different but what is the normal downtime for this procedure and is it not weight bearing fully entire 3 to 6 weeks in recovery?
Every case is different but I had my right lateral meniscus trimmed and a bit cut out. 8 weeks after surgery I was running, around 3 months I was playing tennis but not 100%. My left leg compensated a bit. However eventually I made full recovery and was playing tennis (weekly) with no pain. I had full strength and ability. I played football and basketball (competitively and weekly) without knee pain. I was 39 when I had the surgery. So I hope that gives you some reassurance. It may be different for you but hopefully it's all good
@@drdoldmd so is the tendon going to fully recover around those ? Isn't there going to be pain in the long run on any specific movements of the arm or when some effort is made? Aren't those knots going to rub if there is any shoulder impingement bellow the acromium ?
How sturdy is this reconstruction? I had ACLR done and am paranoid that one small bump could rupture the whole thing before it gets the chance to heal. How will I know if it does rerupture? thanks.
Any other former athletes here? I played baseball (pitcher), softball, English Football, American Football, and Rugby. I was told as I aged into my early 40's and into my 50's these wiulf become problematic due to repetitive nature. Now both are done, virst at 41, second at 53.
Hi Doctor, the below was my open MRI result. Beside bucket hand tear, my Orthopedic also think I have ACL tear due to my kneecap was easily shifting even though ACL tear didn’t show on my MRI report. It has been 6 months since my injury (this was my third time injured the same knee, but this time was the worst). Right now, I am able to bend my knee, but my knee is very weak and unstable. About 2 months ago, I felt my knee was on the road to recovery as I didn’t feel pain at one point for many days. I stopped wearing my knee wrap (which helped me a lot to alleviate my pain). But as I start walking up and down stair even with knee wrap, after that my pain started over again. After that, I have been experienced pain somewhat like arthritis pain on a daily basis. Now, I am taking warm bath with epsom salt and ice my leg every day which has helped to alleviate some pain. May I ask.. How much longer do you think I can wait for surgery? Is my knee repairable? Why do I feel this arthritis pain on a daily basis? Thank you! MEDIAL: Bucket-handle tear of the medial meniscus with flipped meniscal tissue extending into the intercondylar notch. FLUID: Trace joint effusion. CARTILAGE: No full-thickness cartilage loss.
Poor guy. My dad has gout. Very well controlled. But in the rare instance he has a flare up, he is in so so much pain. But it goes away. But arthritic gout, I hope the crystals go away or knee surgery helped him.
So you are scraping off those crystals in this video. Is that a cure? Does it help with the pain? I’m starting to get some knee pain after a gout attack a few months back. I’m 47 but super active playing squash and tennis 3-4 times a week and gym 2-3 times. This will be disaster for me if it gets worse. I’m not on alipurinol. Do you think I should?
I lifted something heavy 3 years back and since then I have pain in my arm, especially in the tricep area. I neglected it for the longest time but now I also have pain in my shoulders whenver I life something heavy. I went for a shoulder MRI recently and it turned out to be Type 2 SLAP tear. My doctor says surgery is the only option, is that true? Also, regarding the tricep pain, i am not sure where is that originating from? Is there any test which I can do to confirm the origin of the tricep pain? I have a constant pinching sensation in my tricep and it feels good if I put extreme heat on the affected area but it is not healing. Can you please help me out doctor?
I've always had gout in my ankle and a month ago I had gout in my right knee and to my surprise I could stand up and even walk, but as soon as I lay down it hurt a lot, even lying in bed with my leg fully supported. Am I the only one like this or is it a normal thing?😮🤔
I just had this exact surgery 3 weeks ago. Am recovering well now, with physiotherapy and medicine I am able to fully bend my knees and it is significantly less painful than before.
Hello. Can a bucket handle tear of the medial meniscus with complex tearing of the nondisplaced peripheral remnant of the posterior horn/body of the medial meniscus be repaired? My surgeon says it cannot. He just wants to remove parts.
@drdoldmd After seeing your video that is what I was thinking, He basically told me that he was going to remove fragments but that my knee will get worse until I need a knee replacement.
@@marcelologarzo8344 A second opinion certainly won't hurt! Remember, there are a. number of variables to consider when deciding between a meniscal repair and a partial meniscectomy.
Mine is the bucket handle tear involving body and posterior horn of medial meniscus... Is it heal after repair.. Iam planning for the surgery.. Pls reply..
