I remember reading forums where Mr Threadgill participated in back before the internet became enshittified. I knew he was very good, but I didn't realize he was a Headmaster.
Knowing you also helps me know that to listen, I must make a space between knowing you and listening to what you have to share. Then I must move on to what my own journey tells me about what you said. Belig a Brit and briefly going to Iwama twice, I decided to listen with my eyes closed, and your very 'Rich words' took me there once more to places while there realising it's not heaven, but a search for it. As far as going to "The source of O-Sensei" and being in the space that he created. Then, while in this false dream of thinking, it will all be given if one immerses into the 'Whole" and will complete 'Whatever it is one looks for'. But as you say, it does not. So, I thank you for this short message. You may not even realise how 'To me' was a powerful message, and many can gain food and help them search for the path of being more spiritual and do Aikido. Personally, my opinion is one will not work without the other, like a car with no fuel, you can sit in it, but it's going nowhere. Sorry for the rant, but I loved what you shared and hope others also gain from it. Please keep giving more of others gems.
Hello There. I am a Professional Digital Marketer and RU-vid SEO Specialist. Your video production is very nice, your thoughts are very good, but there are some problems in the video. If you let me. I will send you information that will expand your network. Now you get more views and subscribers. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you
WHat no comments!? Obviously hasnt been seen by an MMA fighter yet. Thank goodness. Its beautiful, any Aikidoka should want to try this, to develop their awareness, true harmony, non-ego, opennes of mind. Wish I was Nearer to Miles' Dojo.
I think that this is a life principle - the Techniques are the personal Dialogue, the movements and techniques are the Reaction between people or groups - we either come together; or have conflict; on a level of Principles. We connect (positively or negatively) on the level of principles, in all relationships; In a way we only use the more superficial (conversation, politics, Aikido techniques) as an obvious handle to hold, take, to blame, or to react to - when we are thinking on an egoic level. Thinking from the realm of principles avoids all that.
TY for doing this Miles Sensei... great subject..Main message is there are different ways to get the results in a technique, but we prob. agree on the same principles and fundamentals to get there.
What shihan is saying is, Falastin people are being oppressed by the Z!0n!st, and Falastin people are not afraid to die.."From the river to the sea"!!!
This new year can be like a new tool, when the old ones are worn they lose usefullness. When the angles are flush and the blade is sharp all the wrenching and cutting is more enjoyable.
I thought of one story. The duel on Ganryujima(1612). The person swinging the wooden sword in the air was Miyamoto Musashi, and the person receiving it with a real sword was Sasaki Kojiro. Miyamoto Musashi, who fought with a wooden sword, killed Sasaki Kojiro with a wooden sword. It's really dangerous if someone watch a video and play with a wooden sword.
Actually, this concept of Awase is pertinent to all martial arts that practice ‘Bunkai’ like Karate and Jū-Jutsu. Your movements have to match the opponent's to execute the applications of the technique perfectly.
Thanks for the great discussion and for putting together the video, Miles. I appreciated the opportunity to talk so openly. Perhaps this won't matter much to viewers, but I like to be diligent with the facts, and I misstated the number of hospitals that Israel had attacked in Gaza and the West Bank since fighting began. I said they had attacked 286 hospitals, but the actual figure which I had just seen before this talk was 111, as reported by Al Jazeera. No doubt, one is too many, but one misstated fact can also break trust. All the best to you all.
Political debates/bloodsports where they attack each others character way more useful than these stuffy, passive aggressive, frozen, neutered "discussions." Good attempt, but boring and fruitless fake and lame
Good and affordable discussion for both sides, although, no amount of discussion will change the animosity and generosity with death. This might again be a clash of forces whose resultant will determine the course of history, again, as opposed to who and what is right. Edit: I feel Theo's conversation at 19:51 shouldn't have been interrupted though I guess it's expected of the group. I understand Diane's question at 27:30, though keep in mind that question is laced in uncertainty. If her assumptions were true, then alright, but in War there are so many variables her question is just a conversation pusher and not a legitimate argument in the topic.
What do you mean exactly in saying that you can justify any actions right now? One should dig very deep within one's self before deciding what one's "duty" actually is. If the Israeli government hadn't made the decision to run a concentration camp for so many years, this tragedy would've never occurred. They have carried out well their own crimes against humanity. To accept that Israel is an innocent victim in all this is a full blown illusion. What really is the duty to be carried out to bring peace for all of the creators children be they Jewish or Palestinian?
Thank you for your thoughtful sharing. As an Israeli and American, I would like to share my thoughts about your comparison between Israelis and Americans. I'll stay in the generalization realm and say that in both cases, either arguing in Israel and avoidance (or accommodating) in the US, there is no learning! My purpose in researching and providing conflict engagement services for many years is to help acquire new capabilities to learn and grow across differences. Thus, Israelis' tendency to argue and trigger debate does not guarantee a dialogic learning experience in the service of the individual and the collective. Hence, the ability to stay in conflicts is necessary but insufficient. I'll take this further to say that arguing for the sake of arguing is another form of avoidance. Furthermore, not only is there no learning when arguing, but also the situation becomes polarized even more. There is more to learn about the subtleties of nurturing learning and growth across diversity.
Tank you for sharing :) The essence of true budo by Hikitsuchi Michio, the only 10° Dan awarded by the founder of Aikido, Master Ueshiba: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-szHaWH3AUwE.html (Master Ueshiba meditated and prayed twice a day, morning and evening, without that, no real Aikido)
Great video dear Sensei! Much respect as always. I wish you Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a happy new year with many blessings, joy, and peace 🙏🏻❣️🙇🏻♂️
