PSA and all grading companies are I wouldn't say a joke but they are, being that thousands of employees are handling millions of submissions. It's a human element which makes having a fair grade a coin flip, especially if wanting a 10 gem mint card for sure. NO ONE PERSON will grade a card the same which is again, gambling at it's finest.
Getting back into sports cards and binging a good chunk of your latest videos. Agree with a bunch of your takes. Keep it up, Retro! Also, where'd you get that MJ cap? Its sweet.
OH, and the nerve PSA has to UPCHARGE cards based on card value. FUCK THAT. I'm paying you to grade it and slab it, PSA isn't listing it for me, PSA isn't selling it for me, PSA is grading and slabbing, so why should I pay extra to own my card. Why should PSA's greedy little fingers get to touch my money/investment just because someone else is selling their card for however much on ebay. PSA can kiss my ass.
Gone are the days of me buying/submitting PSA. I've started only buying/submitting SGC. I will only buy PSA items if they're cheap enough that I can crack and submit to SGC, because PSA is so bad in the last 4 years.
I did a order to sgc and I use them for year and this last one suck ass I don't know where the ca.e up with the grades but mose of my cards gotv4.5 and 5 I will never use them again what a dame joke
The other grading companies that are legitimate need some edge over PSA. Better holder, more reliable, better price/cost, better web site that shows the process, recognition that they grade well. There is a reason PSA is beating them. They are more engaged in the hobby than any of them & it makes a difference and they seem to work at improvement. I really wish Beckett had kept up with the hobby better and SGC had a better more up to date holder.
That’s a good question. Emotionally 1990-91 is my favorite. A lot of Nostalgia there. 1996-97 is iconic cuz of the rookie class and Kobe. And then 20-21 had the SLAM magazine inserts which also were crazy.
I thought it’s a known fact that handling cards with gloves is a bad thing? We don’t want them doing that so I’m glad we seen him handling it bare hands.
I agree with everything you cited from Dan’s point of view. Otherwise, sorry it’s cheating, he polishes, soaks, and stains, that’s altering, not restoring in my opinion. Great discussion!
Maybe it is mentioned later in the stream or available already but if Fanatics bought Collectors or any grading company a person can hit a card on Fanatics Live, have it sent immediately to grading and then vaulted/sold and person who hit the card never takes possession, straight cash...
By the way does anybody know what this wax is? Is it just a high grade food wax rebranded as kurts special wax that everyone is paying 50 dollars for? I very much doubt kurt has invented some super duper special card wax. Feels like amazon rebranding business
Polarizing? So be it, such is life yanno?...imo if the restoration doesnt involve any cutting/trimming, paint or removal thereof, (basically anything destructive) and instead uses techniques and products that actually help make the card better the what's the problem!? We ALL want these cards to look the absolute best they possibly can💯💯 why complain?🤔🤦🏽♂️😑👎🏽
There is something you can do about it it’s called CGC. There slabs look better labels look better and they grade more strict. The price difference is ridiculous at this point imo
