I have a powdered skim milk drink with honey and sleep well and my skin is great and I have no issues with it. I've had milk before bed for over 40 years. No heart disease sorry to disappoint the vegans and no liver problems sorry to disappoint the 'honey has fructose' people. My blood sugar tests are always fabulous so are my triglycerides (I exercise a lot) so sorry to disappoint the 'avoid sugar' people.

Introduced in the first prequel film, Prometheus (2012), David is an android serving as a butler, maintenance man and surrogate son to his creator, Peter Weyland, the founder of the Weyland Corporation. Can androids get an erection?

I’ve been dealing with this for the past 5 years, flat stomach in the morning & as soon as i eat anything…half hour later im bloated & my stomach is solid. so i assumed it was something i was eating, so started cutting out bread, then pasta, anything sugary, i gave up alcohol 4 years ago, i literally went through all types of food & it’s still the same. I’ve now joined a gym & although im training hard, my stomach still bloats out, it’s embarrassing & frustrating when you’re trying to stay in shape but it still looks like you’re fat.

I have a random question. If your steps are coming up as 3/4k but you’ve done like a mega hard VO2 max work out for 25mins, does this count towards steps/longevity?

Idk about for weight loss. I went from 328lb to 183 in 7 months going carnivore and the most exercise I did was walking from my home office to the fridge to cook some more bacon and salmon. For health benefits, absolutely. Humans evolved not to sit in chairs for 12 hours a day and beds for 8 hours. We're evolved to move. I have no doubt there's significant benefits to almost everything from walking. Just not body composition.

I like shawns point on long term data. For me it's quite simple. I would rather live to 60 and die in my sleep of a heart attack living how carnivore make me feel than live to 100 with how non carnivore makes me feel. Life span is an utterly worthless metric. The ONLY thing i give a rats ass about is health span

As far as I know kazein is a lot harder to digest, it does not really get released slower. Our body just gets put under more stress. Another marketing trick of the fitness industry.

Whrn in "maintaince"calories, I call it 'needed" I use calore surplus and calorie restriction as insurance policies for the benefits of each on a weekly to 10 day basis but I also go by the feel not scheduled. Hungry and weak a bit I use the increase calorie that day from as little as 300 to 1000 or even more , but I also train a bit more the second day "crucial in my exp"and when Im not hungry is when I cut the calories for that day and may fast long hours also anywhere from 300 to 1000. That day usually I train heavier and shorter, but its all by the feel when to stop, when my energy starts to dim..that's it for today. What I noticed by doing that for long eniugh now is 2 days in a row calorie surplus is not a great idea, for body fat And for it becomes an habit for sensory pleasure

@1:14:20 Yup. Carnivore and literally tripled my kettlebell strength in less than a year. Stronger than every other man that comes there. 1.5 pounds of ground beef after every monstrous workout. Went from clean/squat/pressing 12kgs, now doing it with 32 kgs, in each hand. Lol whey protein. Goes in you then out. Zero satiety compared to meat. Useless for the obese trying to pack muscle while shedding weight. Trash.

The diet of Western European and perhaps even more so Eastern European peasants offers much in the way "hidden health" benefits. I think one reason is the amount of fermented foods in their diet including meats and cheeses. Meals of sauerkraut and sausage were common. Grains were often fermented before eating and beer, a common beverage, might be considered as much food as drink. These ARE generalities and fresh food, fresh air, hard labor and restful off hours and off days are not to be overlooked.

19:48 - sleep, whilst critical, is a very complex issue for many, with multivariate pressures limiting sleep quantity and quality. Sometimes, the slow pernicious loss of health is outweighed by these loud, distracting pressures. Sleep issues and their solutions is likely the topic where fitness advocacy crosses into life coaching, and all that that entails. I think those seemingly implying insults about sleep are actually projecting (coping with) their fear of lifestyle burnout, and probably would acknowledge that they have health concerns about their own lack of sleep.

### Key Insights: 1. **Historical Context & Protein Timing Debate**: - Thomas shares a personal anecdote from 1999 about consuming cottage cheese before bed to build muscle, inspired by muscle-building magazines. - Protein timing, especially at night, has been a debated topic. Thomas aligns with research suggesting that overall daily protein intake is more crucial than specific timing but acknowledges potential benefits in precise timing for optimizing muscle growth. 2. **Types of Protein**: - **Casein Protein**: Slow-digesting milk protein that sustains a steady release of amino acids, potentially preventing muscle breakdown overnight. - **Whey Protein**: Fast-digesting protein that's less ideal before bed due to its rapid absorption. 3. **Research Findings**: - A study from the International Journal of Exercise Science compared consuming 54 grams of casein protein either in the morning or 90 minutes before bed. Results indicated: - Morning intake: 0.4 kg lean body mass gain. - Evening intake: 1.2 kg lean body mass gain. - Although not statistically significant, the evening group showed a threefold increase in muscle gain, suggesting potential benefits of nighttime protein intake. 4. **Practical Considerations**: - **Intermittent Fasting & Protein Intake**: Protein intake before bed can prolong digestion, maintaining amino acid levels and reducing fasting duration. - **Impact on Sleep**: It's crucial to ensure that consuming protein before bed doesn’t disrupt sleep quality, as poor sleep can negate the benefits of pre-bed protein intake. 5. **Combination with Other Nutrients**: - Thomas suggests combining whey protein with slow-digesting foods like yogurt or cottage cheese to balance quick and sustained amino acid release. - Adding a bit of fat can further slow digestion, enhancing sustained protein release overnight. 6. **Fasting Dynamics**: - The timing of when a fast effectively begins can vary based on digestion speed. For instance, consuming slow-digesting proteins might delay the onset of fasting compared to fast-digesting ones. 7. **Scientific Support**: - Large-scale studies support the notion that beef and milk proteins are effective for muscle building, with optimal consumption times being pre/post-workout and nighttime. 8. **Recommended Nighttime Protein Consumption**: - For those aiming for muscle growth, incorporating slow-digesting proteins like casein, yogurt, or cottage cheese 90 minutes before bed is advisable. - Including whey protein can provide immediate amino acids, while the slow-digesting component sustains levels throughout the night. ### Conclusion: The debate over the significance of protein timing versus total daily intake for muscle building continues, with evidence pointing to overall intake as the more critical factor. However, for those seeking optimization, consuming slow-digesting proteins before bed may offer additional benefits, especially in muscle growth. This approach should be tailored to individual tolerance to avoid sleep disturbances, with a balanced mix of slow and fast-digesting proteins potentially providing the best results.

Had several episodes of severe rhabdomyolysis from acute bartonella infection (tick bite).. my cpk was very high, over 60,000 yet my potassium was 2.4.. drs were mystified. Worst pain I’ve ever had in my life. All my muscles were cramping so hard I thought my bones would be crushed (apparently that can happen…) I developed renal potassium wasting. I’ve been on very large daily doses of oral potassium plus taking electrolytes plus sole water.. I feel like I never have enough potassium. Usually when blood test done I’m at about 3.4.. I use Euvexia electrolyte blend which has 600mg potassium per serving & it doesn’t have sugar or other crap ingredients like most products I finally got referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester regarding this potassium issue.. I’m curious as to what they will say
