I love this band !! this is a stellar group of musicians, all at the top of her game! And I love Richie Kotzen’s guitar playing and his voice. Unfortunately, in this mix, his voice is not coming through at all! What a shame.
I don't think many people know how good this guy is on guitar. He was signed by Mike Varney in 1988 to Shrapnel Records who had the best shredders on the planet. Yngwie Malmsteen,, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Vinnie Moore, and Greg Howe to name a few.
Great band. Unlistenable mix. The problem with this band is the stage level is blaring loud. Vivaldi mic bleed is horrible. Levels suck. Bass sounds like a gurgling sperm whale. Drums are all kick and crash…no snare. Too bad… gig fan too.
Man, Billy told me he was studying Paganini when we were going to Kenmore East High School. He was playing with Talas with Dave Constantino back then. Talk about virtuosity. The thing about Billy is he worked his ass off to carve his own path, I think you'll agree with me that it's quite obvious, yes? @BillySheehan was probably the best musician to come out of Kenmore East. There were many more, myself included, I played pro for 17 years as a singer and guitarist 🎸
I see Portnoy's awful voice is wrecking live performances now just as well as it was during the Train of Thought and Constant Motion DT era. What a talent.
Sound guy SUCKS. Awful, awful vocal mix ... CAN'T HEAR the LEAD VOCALS, Guitar is WAAAAY too loud to everything else. very dry vocals, no effects on them and can't hear the lead vocals at all, or the drummer's vocal, mix is terrrible for what should be a professionally produced venue. what a joke. And on top of it, the idiot sound guy is playing "who let the dogs out" right up to the first note of the guitar. Just makes the band sound so amateurish, when they are one of the best bands on the planet.
How Godlike must Ritchie Kotzen be to outshine Mike Portnoy and Billy Sheehan live on stage singing like a bird and playing the sickest lead guitar like he can do it in his sleep, and without a pick and no gain or FX. Thats the most naked guitar tone I ever heard yet he still shreds on it like he's playing on 11. For a laugh check him out at 1:20:20
I love Billy, but the mix here is waaay off. Richie's guitar and vocal are getting buried under the bass heavy mix and even Mike's drums are not cutting through. Billy's rig may work great in larger venues but here he's overpowering.
