at 12:02 in the video you described measuring from the shoulder to the "upper bust", however, if the uper bust is around my armscye/upper chest area, that measurement it atleast 3 inches from my full bust but you are drawing it about 1" down from your bust? This is where I got lost, please explain.
Thank you so much! The tunics you made were beautiful! If people are very plus size like me (woman's size UK34/USA 30 or higher), 1/2 the pattern front may exceed the width of 1/2 the paper so I don't fold the paper when drafting. We also need more "ease" so I find having a bit more seam allowance (4 inches total seam allowance) helps me adjust where extra ease is needed. I use this in addition to the standard ease. For pants, my stomach really expands when I sit so I take that hip measurement standing and seated. Mine is 8 inches different!
Absolutely brilliant!! I looked at the easy turn tool and it was $36 my dollars!! I wondered how could I make one myself and came across this video. Perfect!
Oh honey, I’ve been looking for a training video for so long for a tutorial that jogged my memory from my young years I can’t deal with pre made patterns any longer I didn’t want to go back to study again just a memory jogger and your tutorials have nailed it. Thank you! 😊
What a delightful teacher you are, nice pace and eloquent and clear instructions. Made my list and sketch and will do the measuring (ugh no hiding from Mr honest tape measure!) Splendid video. I have got a massive roll of parcel paper too. Thank you so much. Can’t wait to start doing my own designs.
Muchas gracias me encantó , he visto muchos correctores de postura y se notan bajo la ropa . Entonces quería uno que no se viera y siento que este es perfecto , mejor lo haré yo misma muchas gracias❤ ❤
This is so incredibly helpful, informative, and detailed. I do have one question, however. I have a rather large bust (I am a G cup). Would the dart you described be enough to accommodate that, or do I need a second dart from the armhole to the bust? If so, how would I go about drafting this second dart?
Hello! I am having a bit of difficulty with making my arm hole measurement between the original armscye and the tightened armscye measurements. My original armscye measurement is 18in, and my arm hole is just right over 18in, but when shorten the front and back arm another half inch like you suggested to try and fix it, my arm hole ends up being just over 19 inches. So I am not really sure what I am doing wrong, if you wouldn’t mind some advice would be lovely! Very, very amazing tutorial by the way, I love how in depth you are it is much appreciated☺️ Thank you!
Hi wonderfully created! Thank you for your comment. By this part of your comment 'but when shorten the front and back arm another half inch like you suggested to try and fix it' are you referring to 15:40 - 16:42? If so the steps explained here are for increasing the armscye length which explains why your measurement got bigger. To make your armscye smaller on your pattern you have to go the opposite directions to what was done in this part of the video. If this is what you did already let me know and we can work though what else can be done to help.
