Hi - thanks for your videos - you explain very well. I’m just learning how to adapt stretch patterns to allow for negative ease. Though you didn’t mention this I can see that you used the block for your pattern which has no seam allowance, did this mean your pattern was slightly smaller to allow for the stretch present in the fabric? In the past I tried to make a skater style dress for my daughter without knowing about negative ease and it was far too big. Could you make a video explaining what allowances are needed for stretch on different fabrics please? Some of mine are really stretchy, and others barely stretch at all.

Good question. If a material is stretchy (not just a little stretchy) just using your measurements without allowance should be okay for a fitted piece. Do try to maintain the allowance at the armpit ends of the bodice and arm though if attaching sleeves. Then take it in else where so there is no allowance. For this piece I did end up taking it in at the waist a little bit more. It's difficult to give exact guidance because materials have different stretches. It's better to have it lose and then take it in where needed until you get used to that material. I hope this helps.

First thing you can do is figure out the elasticity of your fabric (vids of calculating fabric elasticity on yt) then depending on those percentages you should be able to gauge how much of your pattern will be negative

Hello, can you do this same technique for a dress that is not stretchy?

Good day, no you can't as you will need the allowance that is cut off here. Here is an example of using the pattern with a non stretch dress ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-unyJgKjgbfo.html ✨

Greetings 😊 I use standard all purpose thread I just make sure to zigzag it so it stretches with the material. Blessings.
