Interesting to note that Elizabeth didn't "kill the messenger." The Lord Patrick Plunket remained Deputy Master of the Household until his death. --- Unmarried, Plunket died of cancer on 28 May 1975 at the age of 51. The Queen attended both his funeral at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace and his memorial service at the Guards' Chapel. He is buried in the Royal Burial Ground at Frogmore, the royal family's private graveyard near Windsor Castle. Apparently, Plunket is the only person buried there who is not related through blood or marriage to the royal family. (Wikipedia)
Jackie Kennedy would have never been so imprudent as to have said those things in any place that she could have overheard…She was known to be cutting and snarky, but it was behind closed doors…
Claire Foy was just magnificent in this role ,she is such a natural actress ,her eyes sometimes said more the any words her and Olivia Colman and of course Helena Bonham Carter were just great in The Crown !
I’ve come to the realization, that one of the best performances by an actress ever… and I mean ever… Is Claire Foy, in The Crown. Ethereal, mesmerizing, strong, and perfectly cast to portray the young queen.
That whore Jackqueline looking like a down syndrome patient and talking shit about the queen like that. Jumped beds 5 times since her hoosvand got his skull blown to pieces and thinks her peasant ass can in any way compete with the queen.
Her face doesn't change, and she tries to keep it together even when you can feel and hear her heart break into a million pieces. That's acting. Claire Foy is amazing.
The Emmys are given out for a specific episode which the actors submit. In Claire Foy's case it was Dear Mrs. Kennedy, eighth episode of season 2. In my opinion this scene got her the award but she's excellent throughout the episode and it's one of my favorites' from all the series.
Claire foye was transcendent. The queen doesn’t show us great emotion in the real world, but you know she has to have them. I don’t know if the Kennedy drama really unfolded but honestly, this episode made us feel as though the queen was feeling second rate, or like for the first time she really wanted to impress someone just for the sake of making a friend. This moment broke me.
Interestingly, in Jackie Kennedy's book that was released 10 years ago, there is absolutely nothing said about the State visit to UK or anything about the Queen and Prince Philip. Yet, Jackie talked about every other state visit and she was very negative about many of the people she met on those trips, including DeGaulle. There had to have been something said about the meeting the Queen that Caroline removed because they're still alive.
I do hope Jackie didnt say those things , she’s got a cheek coming into a royal palace , shes entitled to her opinions but it is someones home and they have invited her in , just rude and Im not a monarchist at all , I dont tolerate bad manners though
No denying Claire Foy did a great job as the young Queen however she smiled very little and seemed way to serious. Looking at old pictures and Film footage of Queen Elizabeth in casual setting, she smiled and seemed relaxed.
I loved this woman as Queen Elizabeth. So much is said without saying a word, her breathing and the tension in her body. She was spectacular. And as an aside, I found this particular scene heartbreaking for the Queen. She wanted so desperately to make a good impression and then hears the complete opposite happened. Sigh! Such a great show.
