Claire Foy's performance in The Crown is nothing short of an acting master class. In this scene she outdid herself. The gulp to swallow emotions and not letting the tears fall had me floored. Truly great performance.

I agree! I like Olivia, but Clare was the best fit for that role. I genuinely did not understand why they didn't utilize makeup/prosthetics to age her instead of replacing her...c'est la vie. As for BAFTA snubbing her (their loss by the way), it could be due to the involvement and support BAFTA receives from the royal family. The queen is extremely old fashioned and private, she will not come to terms with a TV show based on their lives.

@@AmitZinmanVideo, I believe the budget was around $150m; I am sure the producers could have worked with Netflix to get more since it was so popular. Furthermore, they would only have to do it on Clare and Matt (queen and Phillip). The kids would have to change since the ones used on seasons one and two were quite young. As for Margaret, I actually believe Helena Bonham worked really well. Due to her lifestyle choices, the real Princess Margaret aged very fast.

Fuck the queen, she ordered princess Diannas death
@davo9905
@davo9905 3 года назад
@Fuck people with Anime profiles Just saw this, you cant seriously think this was an accident. 1. Four motorcycles were following Diana the whole night (Likely working with british special forces or M16) 2. There were 14 cameras in that tunel and not one of them was working and managed to capture the "accident"? 3. Multiple witnesses report seeing a bright white light right before the crash (brighter than a camera flash) which was likely a strobe light used to blind the driver. 4. The hospital was 10 minutes away from the crash sight, 20 at most with traffic. It took them over an hour to get there. 5. Just 10 months before Diana's death she wrote a note to a friend stating, and I quote, "Charles is planning a break failure, serious head injury to make way for camilla to marry" 6. Lets talk about the confusion in witness reports post crash: Initial reports claim that Diana was fine, and only appeared to have a broken leg. A sky news reporter recieved the official call stating that Dodi (Diana's spouse) had die, but Diana was fine and only suffered a concussion and a broken leg. Reasons: -Its no secret that Princess Diana was hated by the royal family. Prince Charles especially, as he wanted to marry Camilla before and after he married Diana. -Princess Diana was pregnant with Dodi's child, the royal family couldnt accept that a Egyptian muslim would eventually be the step dad of the future king of England. -Shortly before her death prince Phillip issued a threat against Diana after she stated that she wanted to seperate from Prince Charles. -If she was to divorce/or seperate from the marraige, which she did, she immediately became a threat to the throne. Coincidence? I think the fuck not. Long live Princess Diana, the queen of hearts, and rot in hell to every other member of the Royal family.
@davo9905
@davo9905 3 года назад
@Fuck people with Anime profiles K now Imma debunk and add even more facts. 1. No, those four motorcycles were unidentified, the driver assumed that they were paparazzi and took that route specifically to get away from them, which is also why he was speeding. 2. Well of course there’s gonna be pictures of the accident afterwards, what’s your point? 3. The only other car in the tunnel was the one directly infront of Diana’s car (I’ll take abt that in point 4) so it wasn’t a headlight, and as I said the witness reports (7 specifically) stated that the light was uncommonly bright, and it was a single flash. These witness reports were bystanders outside of the tunnel, meaning that light had to have been extremely bright. 4. The car that hit Diana’s car was never seen again after initial witness reports, despite the million dollar investigation and the biggest large scale search in history. 5. As I said, the hostpital was at most 29 minutes away, and may I remind you that they would’ve obviously made way for an ambulance, especially one with a Royal? 6. The man who received the letter made it public, and clearly shows the insignia of an official, private royal letter. 7. No, I’m not talking about thoughts, I’m talking about multiple people reporting to see Diana leave the car limping, which is contrary to the police report that she was in critical condition and unable to move. 8. Anything to say about the 14 CCTV cameras? Even more facts: Firstly, let’s not forget that MI6 and the British special forces are more than capable of staging an accident. -A former MI6 agent, Richard Tomlinson, stated that the agency was involved in Diana’s death. This project was similar to a project that MI6 conducted to assassinate the former president of Serbia, which was to blind the driver using strobe lights. It’s worth noted that this man was later kidnapped and tortured by MI6. He also said, and I’ll remind you that he’s a former MI6 agent, that MI6 has the capacity to stage an accident, wether by helicopter, airplane or car. - The only other witness in the tunnel, who was believed to be working for MI6, was driving ahead of Diana at the time. The owner of this car was found dead, with his head separated from his body. Decapitation. Come on man, you can’t seriously think that this was just an accident. Princess Diana was the most kind hearted, down to earth person in the Royal family, and she also had intentions to expose other powerful alliances of sex trafficking, drug trafficking etc. I already listed some reasons in my last reply.
@davo9905
@davo9905 3 года назад
@Fuck people with Anime profiles Agreed. Honestly my hatred for the royal family isnt only due to the point that they were involved in Diana's death, it's also the way they treated her before she died. I don't think she's just Colman playing Elizabeth. I think it's almost a different role now. Cause in the first 2 seasons, it was all drama with Phillipe, and how to cope with this job, with her being the head of state at the age of 28 or something etc. So it was a very awarding time for an actress. Now, Colman plays the settled Queen. No drama anymore, at least not with herself. She knows who she is now and what's her duty etc. So it's just not as showy of a role as it was in the first seasons. And Colman is great at this subtle, settled queen role. :)

I am so glad Claire Foy played the young queen, so much story in her eyes. One of my pet peeves in the show's later seasons, was the fact that the Queen and Princess Margaret now notably have brown eyes. I'm not usually a stickler for details like these, but a style change like maintaining a royal's eye colour can have a significant impact on the way the characters are relayed. Imagine Diana had been portrayed with brown eyes. It takes you out of it. Contacts for movies these days are spectacularly accurate. It would have added a truthful edge.

I love everytime she is doing that heavy breathing. It adds up more emotions you can really see that she doesnt want others to see she's in pain by showing a flat face. But that part when she rapidly breathes intensifies connection to the audience to what she really feels. Claire Foy is a marvelous actress.

I loved this woman as Queen Elizabeth. So much is said without saying a word, her breathing and the tension in her body. She was spectacular. And as an aside, I found this particular scene heartbreaking for the Queen. She wanted so desperately to make a good impression and then hears the complete opposite happened. Sigh! Such a great show.

Claire Foy should win an Emmy for the scene where her grandmother curtsies to her alone. So many emotions that flicker across her face - sorrow, embarrassment, loneliness, and the realization that all of her personal relationships will never be the same. She truly inhabits this role. At the end of this scene the way she says "soon" after grappling with her feelings is clear - "soon" means "when hell freezes over."

Clair Foy immortalised the Queen's role .. the kingdom must remain indebted forever. What grace , simplicity yet the impact she had in every scene .. vulnerable yet powerful , fickle yet determined.

What makes this scene and performance of Claire Foy to be truly iconic is not just how she portrayed the Queen. From her tone, appearance and resemblance of HM's voice, it is a well-known fact that the Queen does her best to be composed, level-headed at all times. Be it a tragedy or a celebration. I almost imagined how the Queen truly felt with a First Lady's degradation of her Monarchy, her Palace and her role. That's what made this one of the best scenes in the show. And also her reaction when JFK's assassination footage was scene. I could truly picture a 20th Century Queen still adjusting to her titles.

The Emmys are given out for a specific episode which the actors submit. In Claire Foy's case it was Dear Mrs. Kennedy, eighth episode of season 2. In my opinion this scene got her the award but she's excellent throughout the episode and it's one of my favorites' from all the series.

the compassion that claire foy made me feel toward the queen is just unfair. she's the queen and i'm a nobody but i feel like i want to protect her from all who would disparage her. this episode made me hate jackie kennedy for a day. the episode about her education also struck a chord. turns out i have a soft spot for people who are made to feel inadequate. thanks to claire foy i know that now.
