The Mash and Drum is my whiskey review channel with a focus on bourbon and the history behind it. I don't just explore the flavors of the whiskey but the incredible stories and people that create it. If you want to learn more about what's in your glass and hear honest reviews then you have found the right channel. My name is Jason C. and I am a drummer and whiskey enthusiast from my tasting room in Columbus, Ohio. Hope you enjoy the channel. LIVE Wednesday nights at 9 PM EDT!
I have an OESV store pick from total wine and while it tastes great and doesnt drink hot, the nose on it, is awful. Im not sure how four roses gets that stank note on there but geez it fucking stinks.
I picked this up Tuesday in Michigan..can't say I got any peanut butter cookie out of it On the nose: a smooth caramel vanilla, little nutty-ness On the Palate: had an oily feel of creamy vanilla butterscotch and a light char oak that comes after with some dried apple skin that lasts a while and translates to some tea leaf on the finish
It’s 2 years+ from this video release. I’ve been into serious bourbon now for a few months. The EHT Small Batch was one of the first bottles I came across at a decent deal when I got going. I really like it. Just picked up the CC 100 yesterday. Popped it open and sipping it while watching this video, and enjoying it. Was definitely half the price and is a solid bourbon. Can’t beat the price…I paid $35 (Oct 24) One of those bottles you don’t mind finishing sooner than later cause it’s cheap to replace and easy to find.
Paid $120 and don’t feel ripped off. Well aged/blended, premium non barrel proof whiskey is hard to come by. I’d put this in the realm of WT101 12 year and Blue Run Trifecta while being significantly cheaper than either in the US.
Well 3 months after this review was released I just got this one from my local store at retail. I have BRT-02 in the bunker. I may do the comparison but ultimately this doesn't seem worth it. Wish I had watched this before buying. oh well.
Thanks, I 'm psyched to try an old Forester bourbon. I'm already a fan of other Brown and Foreman Bourbons such as Jack Daniels and the Early times bottled in bond
Goddamn Schenly and Seagrams ruined some classic whiskies back in the day. I’d actually like to see Kentucky Tavern get a proper revamp with a bonded version like Early Times did. Who owns it now, Sazerac? I love their old ads
I LOVE this whiskey Jason. I don't know if you've tasted it since you cracked it, but for me and my taste it opened up beautifully. The sweetness and the butterscotch notes come to the forefront, its absolutely wonderful and amazing, at least for me and my tastebuds. I just bought myself a backup... that's right, I love it that much. Thank you for the review, you're awesome man, keep going!
Started seeing WT 101 8yr at grocery stores on 10/1 for $43.19. They also had ECBP SiB 9yr 120.5P $72 & KC SiB store pick $46.79.. Still no MM LE Lost Recipe #01.
Rumor is when Eddie went through the barrels they had some hazmat barrels it was up and down all over the place and they didn't get as much juice as they hoped some barrels had 14 gallons in them :-( nevertheless I believe this was their reasoning behind proofing it and not giving us a single barrel
Thanks for the review, I’m traditionally a fan of the ECBP offerings and was hoping for a c923 repeat performance. But let’s get down to brass tax, Mets got me worried, can’t lie. Cheers Jason , go Phillies

SRP for this is way above my ability, and desire, to pay. So never mind secondary market(!). I'll have to file this one under "U" for "Unattainable". Maybe I'll have a chance to taste it somewhere... As far as the comments about people, "complaining" about the price. It's not "complaining". It's just that some of us have other priorities, and just can't spend THAT much for a bottle of whiskey. I've got $60-$80 bottles that would probably beat this in a blind. So, to those who have no issue paying a $220.00 SPR or secondary... enjoy!
Seems other higher proof bourbons (KC single barrel, Rare Breed, etc) don’t come in as hot as these Elijah Craig Barrell Proofs. I find these too alcohol forward, enough so that it oftentimes overshadows the flavors for me 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks bud! ECBP are absolutely amongst my fav pours each year (when i can find em....2023's C batch has made that considerably harder). Appreciate all you do!!!
