One of the pistons was seized solid. Are your pistons moving freely and also there's adjustment on the rod coming out of the master cylinder.

@@TheWeeBaldyBiker Pistons are moving freely. I took the master cylinder apart this weekend and rebled. It still has very little movement in the pedal, but it'll quite easily lock the rear wheel. Maybe I'm just used to other bikes.

Just double checked in the Range Rover service manual, you don't have to let the pressure off the front suspension when renewing the lower arms.

That could just be the colour of your transmission oil, usually if it's mixed with coolant it goes a milky colour

Hi, thanks for your question. The engine in this year of the rx50 is the derbi d50b engine, so it should be the same as your bike.

It can cause a knocking noise or sometimes a creaking or squeaking noise.

I mention in the video I haven't got a C spanner, suppose it's better than the alternative of a hammer and screwdriver/chisel

I've had a look around without much success, keep a eye on eBay

The head was also cracked, someone had tried to weld it before

The 4 m8 head bolts get torqued to 22nm

Sorry I thought I'd edited that out, it's definitely 22nm, I just double checked with the service manual.

I was getting a knock going over a bump in the road, also when I jacked the car up there was movement in the rear wheel. The way I done that is, jack up under the lower suspension arm, get someone to press the brake and you try and turn the rear wheel back and forward, if there's any movement that usually shows wear in the joints. I used a trolley jack for that.

I was lucky on this video, I should have mentioned you need a puller, I use a old puller for a Austin mini clutch, here's the yamaha part number 90890-01362

Hope it goes back in a bit easier, if I buff off those lumpy bits might help.

I lowered the complete subframe with a trolley jack and a batton of wood. Once it was out I used my engine crane to move it about, it's a 2 man lift without it. To renew the 4 subframe mounting bushes, you'll need the special tool for that.
