How do you play so fast on the hi-hat on Chamber the Cartridge? Do you use the shank technique? I'm mediocre at drums and can't play anything fast. I don't get how punk drummers play like 180 bpms. Do you have any tips? Are you hitting 2 notes for the price of 1? Or any source I can read/watch to get better? I can't keep up on the hi-hat so when I play Rise Against I have to play like 1000 Good Intentions or something slow like that lol - Great album to cover and great drumming btw.
good question lol! I think its a mixture of a few things. You need to be comfortable getting rebound strength with your pinky on the back of the stick. You also need to have control over your thumb at the fulcrum of the stick. combine that with raw fore arm strength and you can get really quick with that right or left hand! You'll know if you're using too much thumb if your fore arm start getting really fatigued. That plus you may be hitting to hard as well. That's just what I've noticed!
@@zhlastdrop1685 Either American Idiot by Green Day or one of the older Breaking Benjamin albums. But certainly more Rise Against. Any other favorite Rise Against Albums?
@@CharlieCohenDrums all of them :D…but yeah, older ones are more close to me as well… RPM is I thing rich for drummer I think but you alredy did solid part of its songs…next to appeal, the siren songs and sufferer are great. But I like also engame which I take as the transition to the “new albums” era and despite the kinda diferrent sound, Black Market is close to me…kick off unreveal is more raw but also perfect. What do you guys think of nowhere gen.? Solid songs are there if you ask me, but that second part was awesome!
Multiple moments where I had to replay and STILL (as a vocalist and musician) couldn’t comprehend certain things you did, this was absolutely spectacular and genuinely helped my interest in dabbling in percussion. I kept having to replay the first time you spun the stick because every time I did I was so distracted by the enthusiasm your expression showed. The sign of a true musician is one who puts their heart into it all, and you sure do.
Follow your work since your first covers off I the mighty and realy enjoy your stuff. Lo Moon is awesome. Thanks for showing this Band to me :-) Thanks for your drumming all over the years. Greetings from Germany from a drum addicted Drummer :-) 🤟
