Urban Shakedown was the label started by DJs Aphrodite (G King), Micky Finn and Claudio Giussani (Union Jack) in 1991.
Some Justice/Ruff Justice catalogue MCG-001 was the first release and bcame an anthem during the 1991/1992 'Hardcore' Rave explosion in the UK. Some Justice was then re-mixed and re-released by PWL in 1992.
'Hardcore' was one of the names given to breakbeat rave music in the UK around that time, and the genre became one of roots for many contempoary musical genres like Drum&Bass, Jungle, Dubstep, Breaks and others.
First rave played this, came up about 30 seconds in, girl I went with who was 20 levels out of my league, best night ever. 9 hrs straight, then went back to my place and didn't sleep for another day or 2 just enjoying life. Cell phones and social media suck.
That vocal melody was clearly interpolated by Dr. Dre in the song F*** You with the line "b*tch don't call me anymore" from the original tune, of course
One of the finest DJs I had the pleasure of listening to I’ll never forget andromeda 8 in Birmingham when you came on in the morning and opened up with General Levy’s wicked and MC Lennie made you wheel it up 4 times then you absolutely smashed the place to bits with your set Respect Bad Boy Micky Finn You da man x
Speed limit 140 bpm vol 1 is still and will always be one of the best albums ever made. This is where I had hear this first right when I started getting into the rave scene at age of 16. Fun times. ❤
