Yeah, I do agree that while EA contributed in killing Bioware, it was also their own fault to the same degree. Bioware always had direction problems, even since their previous games like Baldur's Gate 1, and that was going to end the company had the future king of loot boxes wouldn't have arrived to buy them. Without EA, we wouldn't have got the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises, which are highly loved by the fans, especially the first entrances and ME2. However, it also made them "corporal" as a lot of people have mention before, and they went to accelerate the releases and that was key to the controversy some games received. EA's interest in multiplayer alongside loot boxes and micro transactions also didn't help at all. However, it seems Bioware really believed they would always have their fans supporting them no matter what happened; that's why the "Bioware's magic" slogan was created in the first place. Sadly, things started to go downhill since Dragon Age 2, though getting a bit of success with DA Inquisition (such a boring game IMO, but it did won the 2014 GOTY), but that wasn't going to last. Now Dragon Age Veilguard and Mass Effect 4 are being developed, with the former being released by the end of this year... but honestly, I don't have any faith in Bioware. The ones that made it great are long gone. I just hope those two games finally end Bioware and EA finally lets this once colossal titan of the gaming industry to rest in peace. For all the bad things we have received, we need to remember that we once had great fun with their games.
With the complete mod I agree, but I feel like i'm more connected to the crew of the first game moreso even though obsidians writing was a lot more my speed (That prologue in 2 was horrible too)
I'd be down with that. I'd be even more fine with just leaving frank behind for a new protagonist. I don't really think there's any reason to bring him back when half of what I like about the game is seeing a normal person witness the zombie stuff and react to it
one of the funniest things about this game is looking at the gunplay it just reminds me of destiny crucible which is free, almost every hero shooter is free, this game is in the same spot as hyenas, which didnt even make it past beta, it looks like other games that people already have time and money in, at least hyenas had that zero g gimmick even if the game was bland outside of it
I enjoyed this one a lot more than marvel rivals, it felt fun and smooth. Rivals at least on ps5 didnt feel that fluid. Hope Concord can find a stable fanbase
I actually thought rivals felt pretty good, but I played on pc. I just don't see concord getting a fanbase that'll keep it around beyond the first 6 or 7 months
I disagree. You can make $40 pvp games, they just need to feel like they're worth the money. Plenty of f2p pve games, but somehow Helldivers 2 succeeded. The problem with Concord is that it doesn't do anything to stand out - gameplay is good... and that's it. Characters are bland, graphics look washed out. Animations are good, but when they're surrounded by bad designs and generic environments... who'd want to play that? Concord would fail even as an f2p game, simply because it's not outstanding enough to pull people away from the games they're already playing.
I don't think Overwatch 2 is a good example of a f2p hero shooter. It costs like $40 for the first tier of a mythic skin. The gameplay is alright tho but them damn microtransactions make me wish it was a $60 game and I could earn loot boxes.
it is a good example because the actual game is free and not the skins, although im not defending the shop prices/systems its gross and transparent that ow2 exists only to give you a worse deal then ow1
I used to replay my favorite 5 games like bi monthly, so I think since growing up, my brain just won't let me lol. I've been going through a lot of older games and my backlog, so I think I actually prefer this
Good video. But I disagree that Dead Rising 2 has a funny tone. I think Dead Rising 2 did an amazing job of capturing the gray tones of Dead Rising 1 and going into themes about big corporations and their greed, the dark aspects of reality TV, and the elitism of the upper class. While Chuck does make a few jokes, he doesn't do it overboard or do it all the time. He's only done it about 5 times. I also think Dead Rising 2 has the best characters in the series. While Dead Rising 1 has the best story of the series. Also, Dead Rising 2 first began development at Capcom and not Blue Castle games. They would join the project in early 2008. The characters, locations, and concepts came from Capcom. But Blue Castle games helped finalize them and created the combo weapons. Capcom also still helped work on 2 and its DLCS.
i hope if the remaster does well that they take a shot at a remaster or "redo" of the 2nd game, maybe they could bring back case west and zero or even find a way to implement them into the main game
Case Zero was dope and I agree. Only problem is whether this is just a bunch of remasters or if they're gonna change up the story going forward to direct a new narrative past 3 and 4s problems
@HandsomeMain i'm thinking they might be testing the waters with this remaster/remake and if it does well they'll probably do what they've been doing with the resident evil games where they release entirely new games alongside remakes
Let’s be real, we are def getting a remake / remaster of dr2 after this. If it sells well that is, then I imagine they will retcon 3/4 for how messy their stories got and all the changes they made. So after dr2, I imagine we will get a new game. Perhaps a prequel of Santa cabeza? Or a sequel where Chuck and Frank are with each other the whole game? But also, one of the reasons I think dr2 is secured is cuz of how many people did prefer it (even tho both 1/2 are masterpieces) but also because they gave a Chuck skin / mall track from 2 in the remaster here. Them acknowledging Chuck kinda secured it imo. Also, look for the number 12, when we get to the orphan stuff in the remaster. If the name is changed to Nick, then they aren’t retconing 3. Cuz Nick wasn’t the original name in the 1st game for number 12
Highly doubt it, that's what i'm more curious about going forward (as long as this makes money) I could see them just remastering 2 and otr then rebooting from there hopefully
I kinda hope they don't reboot, wanted to see a new Dead Rising 5 with Chuck and Katey Ann. And hopefully somehow explain why Dead Rising 4 Frank acted SUPER different than Dr1/Comic/Case West/OTR Frank. Dead Rising4 is good I just don't like how he's been acting currently.

If they get a chance at remaking Dead Rising 4, then they’re really going to have to redo everything about that game. Only then can we get a proper Dead Rising 5

Thank you for speaking in defense of this game. I appreciate your energy you have for it. Zombie games are a soft spot for me, I don't care how many people nowadays mock and laugh at zombie media, calling it the lowest form of horror and lame and what not, I think they're just neat. I wish Days Gone had just gone better, it truly deserved better.
As someone who never played a single Bioware game, looking at it from outside is a strange experience, like looking at a distant nation that was once grand and bright but has fallen and now sits in decay. Its hard to describe. If I was to enter into Biowares older game library, where would be a good starting point?

That’s a damn shame because this was a GREAT GAME. Highly underrated it just couldn’t shine through the PUSH that Last of Us got. This game had mechanics that you don’t see in any other in its genre
A lot of people complained about the smaller survival elements, but I actually liked that it was a survival lite, like with the gas and repairing the bike
@@HandsomeMain the new skill card system revolved around getting modifiers in random loot boxes, making the horde impossible to beat on higher difficulties without grinding for hours to get the chance of unlocking something good
@@HandsomeMain did you read the Traviss novels? She heavily sets up stranded city states as the new enemy of the COG the lesser island group. In the games in Hanover and Char you see organized groups not just loose peoples but actual organizations. Do I think a game fighting the stranded would be good no not really would I like comic books and books about that while the games focused on the locust war yes! The locust was was 15 year of constant war show up the perspective of other gears. Or the pendulum wars. 4 and 5 just ruin the trilogy by negating all the sacrifices of the first 3 games and sullied the story by ramping up the technology in 30 years. By gears 3 there were no factories all technology was more or less lost but Baird makes a magic machine and everything is all better. The stories were insulting to the wider universe I almost wish they would abandon them. And don’t get me started on the books
literally both halo and gears have had 3 bad titles... gears judgement changed guns and controls shouldn't of happened, gears 4 was ok like halo 4....gears 5 was an empty opene world like halo infinite....
We need a Gears of War Collection like they did with Halo. Just 1-3. Hell, if people want Judgment, add that in too lmaoo. I totally agree, I'm over the story and I just wanna go back to when multiplayer was actually good 😆
I think Judgement has some cool ideas and multiplayer modes, but i absolutely hated it coming from gears 3. Can agree tho, gears 4 and 5 havent been hitting yet
I never played Gears of war judgement 4 or 5 but I played a lot the first 3 and I dont agree with getting rid of the wall hopping it is part of gears DNA. The mutiplayer of the first 3 gears was really popular back in the day mainly because of the gnasher and wall hopping. I really hope Gears e day will be as good as the first 3.
I think if you played 5 you'd get it lol. But I meant wall hop canceling, since it just let people glide. I agree that the core of wall hopping should stay, but they gotta fix that stuff for the next one
Absolutely love playing this game myself. Never really got to try multiplayer since I don't have friends who own the game. Still pretty amazing though, and your review actually strikes how I would review it too. Surprisingly, even down to liking using the hammer out of all the weapons.
TL;DR, DA2 and DAI seemed like accidents and lapses in judgement, not intentional genre shift, and only now is that indisputably untrue. As a person who far and above favored Origins, I didn't Dragon Age would go back to its roots in full, but I had a glimmer of hope I couldn't let go of until now, for the following reasons: 1) Dragon Age 2 felt like a fluke, especially after we learned of the development issues it had 2) Dragon Age Inquistion doubled down on a lot of things that were disliked about DA2 from people like me, but also a return to form in many ways (no set protag, more customizable companions, more fleshed out and involved factions, etc). When it then came out that THAT had development issues, it reinforced the idea that perhaps the game was meant to be more enjoyable to cRPG enthusiasts, and 3) Baldur's Gate 3 proved that the same type of formula that inspired DAO still worked. Of course all of that fell flat because Bioware's shifting of Dragon Age was more intended than a lot of us assumed and/or were lead to believe, and BG3 came out way too late to influence Veilguard in any capacity. And I want to reinforce, I never thought Dragon Age would go back to my preferred style of RPG, but without knowing what I know now it was hard not to hope that it would do so anyway.
I think since I was a fan of both Mass Effect and Dragon Age, I knew they were leaving the Dragon Age Origins format to make Hawke their own Shepard, but when people didn't like two, they shifted a little back to an table top protag with the inquisitor, but it does suck we never got more older rpgs closer to origins and like Jade Empire before they pivoted so hard into just Mass Effect adjacent titles
You’re so right about Origins! If it ever did get a remake, honestly it should just be a remaster where they only improve the graphics (and maybe outfit options) imo
The writing and consequential choices 100% are why I love Dragon Age, too! I hope they don’t go down the rabbit hole so many companies are going down with pandering to represent instead of focusing on making a great game. Also, hopefully they don’t do any micro transactions! Edit: Just finished the video, sounds like we’re on a similar page. Thank you for being objective with your analysis and pointing out that it’s okay if we aren’t the target audience for BioWare anymore.
