Fantastic video of the famous EC1000. At the time Poclain introduced this model, it was the largest hydraulic excavator in the world. The year was 1970. The EC1000 shocked the mining and heavy construction industry. With an operating weight of 151 short tons, and powered by 3 engines,it was a massive hydraulic unit.I know the bucket capacity was 10 cubic yards in backhoe configuration.Poclain enthusiasts may be interested to know that only 6 or 7 EC1000 units were built. In 1975 Poclain introduced the upgraded 1000CK.The 1000CK was a much more modern looking machine. It was powered by 2 engines and was significantly heavier than the original EC1000.I believe the operating weight was in the area of 179 short tons. There was a 1000CK mk1 and a mk2. At the end of the production run , the 1000CK had increased in weight to 208 short tons.I recall seeing a photo of one of the last units built.Extremely impressive piece of heavy equipment.
