Hello and a warm welcome to my RU-vid channel. I am a passionate tram driver in Berlin. Here I take you along on my everyday working life on the tram tracks of the capital. From impressive rides in the rain to hectic traffic to the quiet moments at night - I show you what it means to travel by tram every day.
Since I am also a big fan of aviation and railways, I will occasionally upload videos on those topics as well.
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: All rides in the driver's cab and recordings from my everyday working life were recorded by me personally. The vehicles were sufficiently secured at all times, the train journeys were never at risk and operational safety was guaranteed in every case and at all times.
Thank you so much for these wonderful trips, I really appreciate it. Greetings from England. Great explanations too. There seems to be quite a lot of track damage, they are obviously well used, are they reasonably quick at repairs?
@@angelmessenger8240 Thank you very much :) Unfortunately, the new trains are not designed for the tracks. The tracks have to be constantly renewed. In addition, the route network is also quite outdated
Just curious to know why so often in Berlin trams don't stop at the end of the stop but in the middle instead? I mean several times on this video as well, the stopping position was clearly not at the end of the platform to forward direction. 😄
@@ptterz1277 Thanks for your comment :) There are stops where the stopping points are marked by signs, and we have to adhere to those. At most stops, we can practically stop wherever we want as long as the entire train is within the station. However, we are required to make passenger-friendly stops, even if there are no designated stopping points. Depending on where most people are getting off at a particular stop, whether at the front or the back, that's where I'll stop. For example, if most people are getting off at the very back to cross the street and catch another train, I'll stop further back. If the stop is very long, I usually stop in the middle of the station. But in most cases, I always stop at the front of the stop 😄
@@Tramklingler Yes I noticed at least some stops had those signs, but maybe I just missed it on most then 😄 It just got me wondering if it would make enough room for another tram to fit there at the same time, or at least mostly fit.
@@ptterz1277 In the entire route network there are only 2 stops where 2 trains are allowed to enter the stop at the same time, one of them is the stop "Landsberger Allee / Petersburger Str" (in the video at 34:30). In the other stops are only 1 train is allowed to serve the stop, even if some stops are long enough for this. :)
Natürlich könnte in Berlin, was den ÖPNV angeht, vieles besser laufen.
