They said that Cziffra was the reincarnation of Liszt. I don't generally believe in reincarnation, but there are exceptions. Therefore, no one should try to play Liszt better than him. :)

Effortless to a master virtuoso like Cziffra. Trifanov still has a long way to go.

Like a circus performance. Too much pedal in many parts. This piece has MUCH more to offer than just technical brilliance. My favorite recording of Gnomenreigen is by Claudio Arrau.

Over pedalled for my liking - loses clarity… for my liking. Rachmaninoff has the best interpretation of this piece imo

I love this. Proud as a peacock and he had every right to be. People forget also he had experienced extreme hardships, poor childhood and had been a prisoner of war. This was his freedom.

I respect Budapest citizens very much who remembered and supported Cziffra after he was released from forced labor. I believe many Hungarian people are proud of this unparalleled excellent musician.

What a performance! I noticed that as he finished he looked away from the audience for a bit. I wonder if its because he was filled with emotions at that point maybe to the point of tears or maybe he was exhausted? He definitely sighed deeply afterward.

After other versions, interpretations, pianist playing the same piece, the faith let's call it RU-vid algorithm, landed me here, and how wonderful it is indeed! Not to mention I'm a Hungarian. He's playing is far more superior than the others, for a simple reason only... He's enjoying himself and plays by his heart not by his brain. Well done. These are the moments when I am proud to be a Hungarian.

Maybe it's also the recording technique that matters, but I personally like Wibi Soerjadi's interpretation more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fghtyMYIAUs.html

I happened to listen to Cizffra and then... I remembered this recording. I remember tring to find a good recording of this etude, when i listened to this... It was absolutely something else. I'm the 1 000 000th person to write a comment like this, but this. It's transcendental.

Grandissimo virtuosismo, l'unica cosa a me personalmente non piaccia molto il fatto che diverse volte non va a tempo,su lascia prendere e mangia un po' via ma come resto grande tecnica e ottime dita..

She draws attention because she is beautiful. You can see from her face that she is nervous, and it shows in her performances. Heroic Polonaise This is certainly a song played by those who bring heroes to the public
@RusskyVoyennyKorablIdiNakhui
There are no words to describe the musicianship here. Liszt reincarnated. And he nearly destroys it all by his bad taste addition in the last bar. 🙂
