Wow, you are the only person other than the Unix guy who thoroughly reviews this course with passion. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain each module.
Another sponsored video about this course. Really fed up of advertising. RU-vidrs making cyber security content, don't realise that is not easy for everyone spend $500 and get dissapointed after following to this sponsored reviews.
Haha right! It’s pretty pricy but I figure they know that the majority of folks attending are being sponsored by their employer lol Thank you for watching!
Thank you for watching! It was a really good trip; I’m electing to skip next year for school reasons but it was a total blast haha Try to go next year? Lol
My pleasure! This vid is a smidge older so I plan on updating it on a new video. If you haven’t already, consider subscribing so you don’t miss the next one! Thank you!
I stopped and listened to your assessment of this course. I heard Sandra Liu mention the course you reviewed. After listening to you quickly, yet concisely, review the course and all the modules. I admit, I am very curious to do this course. Appreciate it, once again.
Thank you for the kind words! While I’m not in “cybersecurity policy” or GRC space, I work around those folks. The course was insightful for me and I literally bought that person coffee in my office haha
I have the CCD certification, and I'm not sure if it's worth getting the CDSA next. Do you think it would be a good addition, or should I focus on something more HR-focused instead?
Thank you for watching! Honestly that’s a tough one; while I have no experience with the CCD; I feel HackTheBox is pretty popular in the community. Whether it’s the CDSA or the company in general, HTB is pretty popular! THAT BEING SAID; I got the Security+ as soon as I could (then CySA then shortly after CASP+) because CompTIA and ISC2 are the only two bodies HR seems to care about in the defense space at the moment. I’m personally working towards CDSA because of the practical nature of the study material and exam but follow your heart lol. Like and subscribe; I’m making a “CyBeRsEcUrItY RoAdMaP” video soon
Hahahaha! Unless you get an industry recognized cert with it, that $500 is flushed. You need a bare minimum of a Comptia Security+, a CISA or CISSP is what the industry really wants.
Thank you for watching! That’s tough because while I see the value in certifications; jobs like GRC don’t have those industry recognized certs like Sec+ or CISSP. I also just checked CompTIA’s site and for you to get the cert and the pdf study guide it’s almost $600. Tack on the interactive lab and you’re over $1k. I personally believe in investing in yourself and allocating an annual budget for learning. $500 is the going rate these days *shrug*
lol thank you for watching! I tried to crudely paste my head on "his" body with hopes people would notice it was GameRanx and not shotty Photoshop haha
Oh absolutely! I personally preferred Black Hat over DEFCON when it came to the talks and the community with DEFCON over Black Hat. It’s really “give-and-get”. Are you going this year by any chance?
Thank you for the kind words! I genuinely enjoyed the course; while it’s a different world than I’m used to it was an insightful one to say the least. Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss the next one!
Hi first and foremost you are extremely swole... I'm in the process of obtaining the following for 3 certifications from SANS ... SEC275 Foundations & GFACT Certification... The second course you will take is SEC401 Security Essentials & GSEC Certification.... The third and final course you will take is SEC504 Incident Handling & GCIH Certification ... I have zero IT experience and just wanted to know upon completion of these certifications what type of job can I get?
Thank you so much for the kind words lol I’m working towards the 1000lbs lift club! As for the certifications; I’ll tell you that if you haven’t taken a SANS course or certification; they’re a doozy! Unfortunately the MOST IMPORTANT part is making good reference material and a great index to be successful in your SANS adventure. To answer your question; up until the SEC504, you’re not really focused in any particular security role so you’ll have plenty of options! GCIH causes you to niche down into more SOC-related roles but regardless these certs should help you get any interview you apply for. I’d focus on incident response, “security analyst”, Vulnerability Management, Firewall admin, or any sort of endpoint/network support team. I’m probably gonna make a roadmap video lol
Thank you so much for watching and the kind words! If you haven’t already, consider subscribing so you don’t miss more reviews and tutorial style content!
Did not work for me at first but figured it out... I had to use lower case L on lower and E on enable, then it worked fine. Thank you for the video, I was wondering how to set this up..!
Very cool! Thanks for watching and also thanks for letting me know what fixed it! This video is on the older side so I might need to update some things lol if you haven’t already, consider subscribing so you don’t miss the next one!
Thank you so much for watching! As mentioned in my 2023 Top Cybersecurity content creators video (watch on channel); I'm a huge fan of SimplyCyber. THAT BEING SAID, I have not taken that course lol Best of luck!
@@SimplyCyber Holy cow! Thank you for watching; I love your (guys) stuff and have been following you for a while. I’d love to check out your stuff, please email the link in my profile.
I am actually taking your course Gerald 😂....I am just taking my time watching everyone piece. 2 or 3 times at least just to absorb n take notes...just got it a few days ago...good stuff even I am only on the 3or 45th course.@@SimplyCyber
@@SimplyCyber Gerald i just purchased your course a few days ago and loving it and taking my time and going over the sections2 or 3 times taking notes n all...good Stuff
Thank you for watching! I’ll be honest I’m not 100% sure since I’ve not taken that certification. I like Abed’s approach on teaching (straight to the point) and how the material in the course couples concepts together.
Thank you for watching! I would verify that the VM workstation product key was accepted and the program is activated. I would then check and see if virtualization is enabled in your system BIOS. Are you getting any errors or callouts when launching VMware?
Also at first attempt to launch virtual machine it was going straight to time out then boot management even after pressing keys to load the cd/dvd disc
Righteousness, with a quick Google search I found this: Go to VM > Settings > Options > Advanced. Check ‘Disable Side Channel Mitigations for Hyper-V enabled hosts’ You should leave it enabled if you can BUT give that a try!
I did the changes in cmd and the prompt was solved but the new virtual machine and open side bar in File is still disabled and also having trouble joining active domain directory. If you have time try to setup an active directory domain hacking lab in vmware workstation 17 pro and see whether you'll experience same challenges... Thanks for the feedback. Always tuned to your amazing content.
Hey man, trying to set this up and a really well done video. Just running into an error when setting the ips for the internal network. Gives me a few errors when trying to set the ips. It creates the network successfully just have to include all the addresses. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I see in the comments complaining about the price and there are universities charging 11K-17K for basically the same information for a 6 month period. There are other online classes like this that want 2k-3k.
Thank you for watching! I always feel awkward responding to comments about the price-point lol 1) It’s not my course 2) I’ve taken a SANS course haha You’re paying for the organization of information but I get it; value is in the eye of the beholder.
I'll say this. After doing my master's in cybersec management I learned nothing I didn't already know from work experience & almost nothing about grc. I've been in the field 10 years & I'm seriously considering the course myself. It's far less than a single masters course.
I’ll say this when it comes to education; whether you pay for school or an online course, you’re paying for the curated content in an organized framework. It’s true you can find everything online for free BUT a course creates a curriculum that if you complete it, it should get you the outcome you apply it too. Plus paying for something out-of-pocket makes you want to get an ROI faster in my honest opinion lol Thanks for watching the vid and best of luck!
This is the crap that kills me the MOST... These same ppl will throw 1k for a silly cellphone, 1k for a laptop,$500 -1k for PS5, $200 for cable ( MONTHLY!!), 1K for rent , blow 1k in a week or weekend for " fun" , 1k for crap that's not even important or MORE without a second thought on items .... yet cryin about 500 bucks for an investment that will return itself 100x over repeatedly for years ?!?!🤦 Boot camps start at 1k ( and that's being nice about it) as it's usually 2500k and up to start which is still modest yet understandable about price but can go high as 20k to 30k. Hell i had to pay 400 for a water pump for my truck, 3k for a transmission replacement job 😅in my SUV along with 700 for exhaust pipe replacement for starters. A 500 dollar investment for myself is a No-brainer for me
It is a good training and it is hands on. However. The basic of the most basic prerequisites suppose a rather high level of knowledge and skill. It is not impossible that I am dumb, but if I had that level of skill for fundamentals I would not pay money to go through the whole course. There is one thing to test one’s perseverance and ability to learn independently and there is another thing to misleadingly say that even someone who is a total beginner (like I am) can start from scratch. I don’t like being tested and I don’t appreciate people taking the piss. I don’t like it at all. Also, if I send an email I expect a reply from a human with a human name, not a video game alias. It is immature and bad for the business.
Thank you for watching! I see your point and it’s tough when it comes to career specific training; the rules and responsibilities of a security analyst varies by the environment and company you work in. I haven’t taken a lot of “zero-to-hero” courses, THIS one covers a lot. I enjoy the practical approach on a certification and wish more bodies would do this. As for the hacker-handles; I like it lol. I understand it’s less professional but at the same time we shouldn’t take ourselves too serious. I love the platform and have used them since back in the day when you had to “hack yourself an invite”. It’s all in good fun!
Love the video! I’m starting my career in cybersecurity. I’m considering in purchasing the course. One question I have is, what are the certifications that ties to GRC in order for me to stand out?
Thank you for watching! When it comes to certifications; that’s really tough! I’d say doing the following would give you a competitive edge: Google Security >> CompTIA Security+ Once you’ve done the GRC training, if you can’t land a job then consider the certification route. I think now in days if you’re not going the government route, certifications are 50/50. I believe in being as competitive as possible BUT I also understand individuals resources may vary. I wish you the best of luck!
Thank you for watching! I myself took this course as a technical professional to round-myself out. While I personally have not seen this land someone a job, you will find numerous individuals at @unixguy channel that express THIS course as their stepping-stone into GRC. I’d visit his channel for more reviews! Good luck!
