Thanks for watching! I know! At the risk of looking like a fanboy; I really enjoy this certification and learning path. I think the platform did a good job with this one and hope they do another “blue team” cert like Threat Hunting or MAL/FOR focused. Have you done any of the “Sherlocks”?

Would love to hear your thoughts post completion, this looks fantastic. It's new, so anyone taking it should take to leverage and actually use the knowledge to get a start rather than simply bypass filters.

Absolutely! Thank you for watching and to that point; I think anyone taking these “non-HR filter breaking” certifications exhibit that exact mantra! You’re taking a course/exam because it’s an organized body of information to help with your objective! If you haven’t already, consider subscribing so you don’t miss the next one!

Great Video! Can you do, if possible, a simple tutorial on how to do the assignments for the CDSA course, like how to use the PWN BOX and how to access Elastic, Thanks & really appreciate your support.

That’s a great suggestion! I am currently working on a CDSA video and it’s going to be way more thorough than this 4min overview. If you haven’t already, consider subscribing so you don’t miss that video. Thank you!

Hello, I am cyberjunkie, i work at hackthebox as Defensive Content Engineer. A great introduction video you got there. Looking forward to more videos regarding the CDSA and hopefully Sherlocks (They are soc and dfir exercises, already released from enterprises and coming soon on the main platform )

If you have to choose between this cert and CySa+, which one you will choose?
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 8 месяцев назад
That’s tough; I’ll say this. If your goal is to get a job, get the CySA+ but if you’re trying to LEARN go the CDSA. If you have to incorporate the DoD-8570/8140 then 100% CySA+ by compTIA. Theres going to be more brand recognition with CompTIA because they’ve been around longer and with the CySA building off of Security+ creates this ecosystem of certifications. Practical knowledge though, I feel so far I’ve learned and used the material from the CDSA way more. I’m going to be publishing a CDSA review video soon so if you haven’t already, make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out!

I don't know what all edu mails can we use ?? They have a list of mails that are accepted or something like that right ??
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 9 месяцев назад
So according to HTB FAQs, you can change the email you signed up with to a .edu account and the student account option should appear automatically. If it does not, you can chat with the online assistant and it walks you through the process of verifying the edu domain you’re registering with. Hope you liked the video, if you haven’t already consider subscribing, so you do not miss the next one! Thank you

Current I'm doing Google Cyber Security cert and I'm planning to do HTB CDSA after the completion of google cyber cert.Is this a good path for applying for a job ?
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! Honestly that’s a tough one. Like I said in the vid the CDSA hasn’t been around long enough to gain HR attention BUT if you were to posture your resume/CV to include training, skills, projects you’ve learned from CDSA (as well as the cert) that might be more effective. We did a decent review on the Google cert [not sponsored] so make sure to watch that vid but I’d recommend getting the CompTIA Security+ first then going for CDSA after for getting a job.

is this better than EC Council CSA , need advice
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 4 месяца назад
Thank you for watching! I must state that I personally have never sat for an EC Council certification but from what I’ve read on forums and individuals experience in my workspace, their certifications are a smidge controversial. Depending on your use case, I’d recommend CDSA for practical hands-on experience and CompTIA’s CySA for “HR-filters”. I LOVE HTB’s learning path for CDSA and how they’re building dedicated labs (Sherlocks) to supplement anything missed initially. I hope that helps you. Consider subscribing so you don’t miss future videos like cert comparisons, roadmaps, and more!

Thanks for watching! I totally get that; if you watch my vid on “Is the Google certification worth it?”, it not only covers the Coursera certification of completion (free*) BUT also mentions Microsoft certifications (currently $99+).

Hack the Box vs Try Hack Me?
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! That’s a tough one; I personally chose HTB to pay for because I like how everything is laid out. I enjoy using THM as well but I have been using HTB since when you had to “hack yourself an invite” to join haha. You can pay for HTB academy and use THM’s free stuff and round-out your learning with both. Are you going for Red or Blue team stuff? Are you studying for a certification?
@claudiamanta1943

It is a good training and it is hands on. However. The basic of the most basic prerequisites suppose a rather high level of knowledge and skill. It is not impossible that I am dumb, but if I had that level of skill for fundamentals I would not pay money to go through the whole course. There is one thing to test one’s perseverance and ability to learn independently and there is another thing to misleadingly say that even someone who is a total beginner (like I am) can start from scratch. I don’t like being tested and I don’t appreciate people taking the piss. I don’t like it at all. Also, if I send an email I expect a reply from a human with a human name, not a video game alias. It is immature and bad for the business.
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 2 месяца назад
Thank you for watching! I see your point and it’s tough when it comes to career specific training; the rules and responsibilities of a security analyst varies by the environment and company you work in. I haven’t taken a lot of “zero-to-hero” courses, THIS one covers a lot. I enjoy the practical approach on a certification and wish more bodies would do this. As for the hacker-handles; I like it lol. I understand it’s less professional but at the same time we shouldn’t take ourselves too serious. I love the platform and have used them since back in the day when you had to “hack yourself an invite”. It’s all in good fun!

just finishing my google cyber, then to add some linux from HTB but I may try CDSA before i move onto security+ or something. beginner friedly-ish cdsa? ty extra sub
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 6 месяцев назад
Absolutely! I recommend the CDSA wholeheartedly; I’m trying to finish the course path so I may upload the review video but it’s very practical and comprehensive from a defensive aspect. If you have the time, I also recommend TryHackMe. They’re doing a free event right now - a little more broad - but also good!

You'd be interested in talking to them but they wouldn't get past HR. @HackTheBox certs mean nothing to HR.
@CyberStudies
@CyberStudies 8 месяцев назад
Thank you for watching! That’s a tough take because I’d argue that only ISC2, CompTIA, and a really small few “matter” when it comes to HR-filters. When it comes to hiring managers though, I see this and/or TCM security certs being crazy valuable (practical knowledge vs. theoretical knowledge). I’m going to be doing a review of the certification soon so if you’re interested make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss it!
