Awww now I'm crying! I miss my sweet boy so much. It's been 1 year and 10 days and I still miss him every minute of every day. Give your pretty girl a big hug and kiss from me.
I love watching the actual knitting!!! It's hard to find channels that do that! I appreciate it!!! My dream knit is Sonder shawl by Expression Fiberarts, cuz all I've ever knitted are dishcloths... I'm getting better! I have restarted the shawl 3 times... this last time because I realized I worked my yarn-overs in the wrong direction...
I never swatch, unless required for a test knit. (some of my sweaters are a little larger than I expected, but I still wear them). I've only had to frog one sweater, it was the first I knit with short rows and I lost track of the short row knitting and they ended up on one shoulder. I didn't realize until I had completley washed and blocked it. Never wore it and finally frogged the whole thing last month.
I do love Paton's Kroy yarns, once when visiting the in-laws their Michaels had Paton's Kroy for $3 a ball, I bought 10 skeins and have used it all - wish I'd bought more! They are the best gift knits, because the yarn is so durable and washable!
I've steeked a copy of cardigans. My tips are to crochet the areas around the steeked row before cutting anything (tutorials are out there for visuals), I crocheted one leg from either side of two neighboring stitches. after blocking, the steeked area lays flat, then I used some thrifted velvet ribbon that coordinated on the button attaching side to sew through for added stability.
My Christmas tradition, since grad school, is to decorate for Christmas at the first snowfall that sticks, or Thanksgiving whichever is first. Some years (Wisconsin and Minnesota) its been early October, other years (California) it's been Thanksgiving. The first year of Covid, pre-lit tree went up in early October and stayed up through the following Christmas, decorations only around Christmas time, but the clear lights of the pre-lit tree was a joy for my morning knitting and reading and it saved me....
Hi Erica; TY for another great video. I just finished the Tulip sweater and am ready to cast on the Franky Sweater in KOS by Sandnes Garn. I hope you complete the design for your pumpkin socks. They are so cute!
I loved the mugs and the vintage halloween decor stuff,so cozy and inspiring(i LOVE fall🐿🦇🦇🦇🪶🍁🍂🥨🥞🫖🍵🥧🎃🕯📓🖋). And you always make my day wjen you, your lovely wife Serena and Morgan are together, you are truly earth 😇angels that spread so much joy around, love you all!!!
This was such a fun video Erica. I love antique shops and I really need to check out Aurora sometime. Loved the vintage Halloween items in that one shop. Spied Morgan with you too. Thanks for sharing your day with us. 😊
The DIY stitch markers with the earrings is brilliant! They turned out so cute! 👻 And my interchangeable needle set (I have the Takumi brand) came with a little pouch with separated sleeves for each of the different sized cables to fit in. The pouch is pretty small, so the cables just get curled up into a circle and tucked into their spot in the pouch. I'm sure it could be recreated with some fabric and a sewing machine (or hand sewn) pretty easily! I'm really enjoying watching your process. I'm also currently knitting a garment for my spouse. Such a labor of love 🩷🩷
I have the same interchangeable knitting needle set and have broken a needle before too, definitely not alone there. Love the stitch marker idea, I want to do that!
You’re inspiring me to actually swatch 😅 I usually just do the bare minimum and then unravel it without blocking haha. You make swatching seem so meditative!
I am planning to sew a little hanger do-dad-thing to hold my interchangeable circular cables (as well as one to store my fixed circular needles). I don't want to always store them coiled up even though that would fit better for most use cases. Right now they are all hanging on over the door hanger hooks of my closet. *hides eyes at the mess that is hanging up there*
Wonderful video! I really enjoyed this style. I have played yarn chicken on my last two cast ons! Must be the full moon 😂 Birch and Lily Knits has an excellent video for cord storage.
WAIT you don’t have to knit your swatch in the round for items that will be knit in the round??? That sounds so much more appealing than knitting a bunch of tubes or swatches that have long messy strings connecting around the back
