Love your updates! I think for your porcelain sweater (which I’ve also been obsessing over!) the red contrast colour would be absolutely beautiful! And since you don’t wear a lot of red, it’s a nice pop of colour without being an all over red garment

I think the red would look amazing for the porcelain sweater, I’m worried the green wouldn’t be enough of a contrast to make that beautiful pattern pop out!

I think the red would be gorgeous in the porcelain sweater! It has really nice contrast. I also have the Agnete Cardigan on my list but I’ve never knit brioche. I’m finishing up a summer project and then it’s all wool for me too. 🙂 I’ve never steeked, but heard practicing on a swatch is really helpful.

Oooh what color do you think you’ll make the Agnete cardigan in?! Thank you for the swatch idea for steeking! That will be so much less pressure to practice with a swatch first ☺️

The red would look soooooooooooooooo good as a contrast color! and since you don't use a lot of red it would be a cool way to incorporate that yarn you bought, on a project ☺

I know I already commented twice, but my advice on steeking is to knit a swatch that’s about 10 x 10 and for the Center 3 inches knit as if that is where your steel will be. Then once you so down either side, you can take a deep breath and cut into it a couple of inches from top toward the bottom. If it doesn’t seem like it’s holding, then you can adjust your technique. This way you won’t have fear of ruining your actual garment. This is how my grandma taught us.

I think that the green would be the best choice for your porcelain sweater. Although the red is beautiful, I think the green would go better with your hair colour. And also I like low contrast colour work.

Hi! I am on day 2 of the Billie cardigan. I'm using Cascade 220 non superwash in a washed-out pickle green heather colorway. I'm about 12 rows away from splitting for the sleeves because I can't put it down, lol. Here's some tips I have found useful for both the pattern and charted cable work in general: Use washi tape to keep track of the row you are on in the various charts. Bringing over a technique from Kutokavika--go through and color code your different cables on your charts (and key)- with different highlighters, colored pencils, etc. If you watch her artic light sweater tutorial you'll see what I mean. I'm a left handed knitter- so everything for me is reverse. I wrote beside the key of cables whether my cable needle is in front or back. My m1l and m1r's are also reversed; so I wrote which way to go into the stitch so I don't have to think about it every time I need to preform that action in the pattern. I use a .5mm size larger (than my main needle) short dpn (I think mine are 5") as my cable needle. I find the slighter larger needle holds onto those few manipulated stitches better than other needles I've tried. And the short dpn stays out of your way as you work the remaining cable stitches. It is overwhelming for the first few rows- but the pattern quickly establishes and it's easy to see and follow after that. Good luck-- I think you'll really enjoy making it...I know I am!

So ready for fall knitting! Currently finishing up on the Marseille Sweater and going to cast on the Eva Cardigan. Btw, if you were wondering about the pronunciation of the Hytte Sweater, it's a Norweigan word that means cabin and the "Hy" is pronounced like the "hy" in the word "Hypocrite" and "tte" is pronounced like the "te" in Technology. Hope it helps!

I visited the PNW for a month June-July. I loved it! Fiber arts, knitting, weaving and spinning are in abundance. My favorite knitting shop was Hazel Knits in Seattle with her own hand dyed yarns. The weather was wonderful even though, living in the east coast, everyone talks about the rain. We experienced only a few showers and foggy mornings which are common on our coast too. I can’t wait to return and go to a fiber festival! Love your podcast!

You've probably already decided, but definitely more contrast on the porcelain sweater. I don't think either of those choices are ideal, and the red is reading more rust-like on my monitor. But, that would be the better of the two.
@darlenedavis3585
@darlenedavis3585 Месяц назад
For the porcelain sweater, I think the rusty red color would be beautiful with the beigey color. It’s not really red and would likely be a better contrast than the green to show up the colorwork.

Have you thought about the Lyon swtr by Petiteknit for your frogged yarn? It has a European shoulder and fits really well. Also, I’ve knitted the Korshavn cardi and it was great fun to make! Just note it’s quite short in the pattern, so if you’re taller you need to add length. I made mine a tad short. 😜

I bought the same olive green Eddie bauer yarn and am also making a cardigan! I’m loving the way it’s working up so far. I’m holding 2 strands together to have a chunkier knit but even then, the finished fabric really is lovely. You can’t beat that price point! Edit: typed this before I saw your next project. Steeking really isn't that scary! :D Next time; knit 2 purls, 1 knit and then 2 purls, which will make it even easier to see where to sew, and where to cut. Try it on a swatch first, if you're unsure. I always sew a straight line all the way down - with a tight stich length. Then I do a tight zig zag over the straight stitch - on both sides. And cut in the middle. Easy peasy! If you're unsure on how long you want the cardigan; steek it before you do the ribbing. That way you have the option to knit flat to add length if you want to, before doing the ribbing. Feel free to HMU if you have any questions about it! Loved the video and your vibe. Will stay as a subscriber

In the next streaked sweater, when you knit the steak stitches, which should be an odd number of stitches- make the center stitch be the opposite of the other stitches. In other words, if your steak stitches are 5: Knit 2, purl 1, knit 2. You will create a perfect channel for cutting when it’s time to cut.

Ooh I personally love the Red for the porcelain sweater, but if you think you would wear it more with the Green then go with that. Another option could be to alternate the red and green to give it that Christmassy vibe, as the shades you showed complement each other nicely imo, but I imagine that would be a lot more work though. Also I agree on the two white shades you showed being completely different, they’re in the same family but definitely different lol

Don’t let anybody put you off of steeking. It’s done for a couple of hundred years and it’s never caused a problem for anyone. And if you do need to take the sweater apart and use it for something else later, you can use the short pieces for Atz and things like that especially if you’re going to use the pieces to do small color work. And most of the time people don’t take those types of sweaters. They become a timeless piece that just can be repaired over and over.
