Omega here. Both my parents had them from the late 60s. It’s a brand that’s been with me my entire life. Am 52 now and bought my speedy at the beginning of the year and then my NTTD in august. Love them both.
Great video! If not for the 10-second subdial at the 9 o'clock position (in lieu of a 60-second center seconds or even 6 o'clock 60 seconds subdial), the Zenith is a bit of a hard watch to love, at least for folks like me with some ADHD/OCD... That said, I haven't tried it on and may not find it as spastic or distracting in person, so tbd. One thing is for sure; the 10x price difference between what you can realistically buy these for makes the Royal Oak a ridiculous purchase for anyone without "f-you" money, I think that's pretty hard to debate.
If you took off the names and showed people these two dials, the Patek would look like the unfinished alpha build. This is such a poor layout on Patek’s part. They couldn’t even align the letters on day and month or maybe it appears that way cause the size of letters vary so much between them… I’m sure there is some “heritage” explanation for bad design here. The depth and size of the subdials as well as the two-second-search on MS word for font suggestions all make this look super cheap. Worst part is definitely how they decided to handle numerals on the bottom half. It might have a Rolls Royce Engine but the chassis is more worthy of a Honda Civic. High horology needs to be more than just how much time people spend polishing something. China made watches could get the technical parts down in half the time at a quarter of the cost if that’s all we were after.
I understand him guys. It is actually “day and night”. Not on video, but on hand you just feel it. It’s the “same piece” but also day and night about the price. People that pay 30k for it actually, at the end of the day, spent less than the 300$ seiko. Let me explain: they bought it 25k from AP, but it’s worth more on the market. They actually made few thousand dollars just from owning it. The seiko only spent 300$, but it will always worth 2-300$…. It’s just not the same level, and same objectif ! I think it’s so cool that everybody can be happy, “you want to invest and have a perfect and rare piece? 30k” “You only like the design, but don’t have the money etc… and you got these nice Hommage watches ! Everybody happy, but neither the seiko owner should tell the ap owner he’s stupid (because he’s not) and the ap owner shouldn’t tell people with the seiko it’s a fake. My opinion!
Unless you are a collector, I see no value to wearing vintage. I rather wear a faux looking new vintage. I love the Pepsi Bezel Timex M79. Looks like a vintage Rolex, but it's new and affordable.
Rolex is oldstyle Bond, Omega is representing the modern Bond. It also represents change from cold war to post cold war. Therefore omega is in my opinion more modern.
I've worn a Speedmaster for the past 10 years, but as for James Bond, Ian Fleming himself wore an Explorer 1016, and said James Bond would wear basically the same thing. I own both brands, I just align closer to the Speedmaster with being a massive space nerd. As a Boston native I grew up loving watches and went to your location many times. love the content guys.
You can buy omega if you have money but Rolex not.its not you choose the Rolex it’s the Rolex AD WHO CHOSE YOU. That’s the difference, when you go through the process to buy the Rolex that time you will realise that truth …
Ahhhh yes another RU-vid "watch expert" who only ever show, suggest, and talks about the same bs as everyone else. The trendy hype pieces that they allllllll focus all their time and energy into before ot make them believe that they are horologicalcoly sophisticated.
