My favourite lines of 'Grandad ' were the episode where Rodney and Del split up the partnership "what is it Rodney a wendy house" and the one where they find out Rodney is seeing an older woman .."even i,d have to think twice" ....absolutely brilliant....
Love seeing all these pieces someone had forgotten about and found years later that would otherwise have been binned, lost forever because memorabilia for fans wasn't a thing. Who would've thought how loved these items would become.
David Jason is remarkable and looks great for his age now. I remember seeing him when he was visiting a show were my friend was exibiting some of the 🐦 birds he bred at home.he got rosets and trophies for some of ti.. David was walking around the ground and the.markeys looking at the different things there. This was say about 30 years or more ago. Were does time go to iask you.?! I dearsay David could answer that.question.to bless him and the Dell boy cast that still exists. I hope you go on for ever my Monsieur custty.xx❤❤ to all of you and your family and friends.
I'd love for more blurays of the show to be released and for Lennard's original footage from Hole in One to be included. I think once upon a time it might have been seen as a morbid extra but nowadays it is seen more as honouring him to show his final performances. Much like the Star Trek The Next Generation blurays included David Rappaport in The Most Toys before he died and was replaced by Saul Rubineck.
That episode handled the death of the actor and character perfectly. Just the right balance of taking things seriously with the occasional ice breaking gag to lift the mood. I'm against the idea of killing off characters just because the actor dies, but their hands really were tied on this occasion.
Bless Lennard Pearce. An absolute legend. This episode was a total masterpiece. The emotion and acting from both David and Nicholas was some of the best I've ever seen. For John Sullivan to come up with this script and introduce a new character that would go on to be a fan favourite, all in the space of a week, is remarkable.
No one could replace grandad, he rocked the part. And I have to say the way they handled that episode was great other than I think they should have delayed his replacement at least an episode or two out of respect. Other than that I was impressed by the actors being able to still act and wonder how much pain was actually in their acting. Love this series and those in it. More fantastic British Comedy. And thank you for not just glossing over the funeral etc like other series have done. Still brings me to tears
What you got then Rodney?. A wendy house. GRANDAD. I was at a card school where the cards were marked. I lost a fortune. DEL. What you knew they were marked GRANDAD. Oh yeah. I marked them
what makes OFAH iconic was that it showed the world what real life was like in 80s Britain through the eyes of working class characters, the jokes land everytime, the characters are lovable and its a nice little time capsule of classic comedy
The most beautiful element was how Uncle Albert's character was not a copy of Lennard's, and yet it was like he was always there. I think both of them proved this show is not just about a family on the screen, but a family of everyone who loved the show.
Uncut versions of all episodes are available on the Wayback Machine, otherwise known as the Internet Archive. And they have the original "shot on videotape" look! Lovely jubbly!
Remember years ago, I was at a bird show my friend Tony entered in with the budgies and canaries he bred in the avory in our garden. Has I was walking around looking at other things at the show, I past who I thought was you?!! That was 20 years ago?!! It was nice. You had dark hair. Then. We said hello and walked on you in one direction and myself in the other direction. Until I got back to the tent where my friend was with his birds. He managed to get some tributes and a small cup for one of the birds in the show. I said well done Tony. He was 5 years older than me. But has now passed away. A few months ago. In Worcester where he lived with lady who did riding for the disabled people who wanted to go to the riding school. In Solihull at the time. We're do all the time and years ago too,?!! 😅😂😊❤❤
As a teen growing up in Northern Australian, I never watched this show. Years later it was playing on Greek TV. I was older and livinhg in Athens. Something clicked about the Trotters. It was a family I wanted to be in. Del Boy and Rodney were the brothers I wanted.
