These wars resulted in significant loss of life and widespread destruction. The Inquisition (12th-19th centuries): A group of institutions within the Church that aimed to combat heresy. The methods included torture, forced conversions, and execution. The Spanish Inquisition is particularly infamous. The Witch Hunts (15th-18th centuries): The Church played a significant role in the persecution, torture, and execution of individuals accused of witchcraft, resulting in thousands of deaths, mostly of women. The Treatment of Indigenous Peoples in the Americas: Following the colonization of the Americas, the Church was involved in the forced conversion, exploitation, and mistreatment of indigenous populations. This includes the support of the encomienda system in Spanish colonies, which led to significant abuse and mortality among indigenous peoples. The Albigensian Crusade (1209-1229): A 20-year military campaign initiated by the Church to eliminate Catharism in southern France. The campaign resulted in mass killings and severe persecution. The St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre (1572): A massacre of French Huguenots (Protestants) that was supported by Catholic authorities. Thousands of Huguenots were killed in Paris and the surrounding areas. The Suppression of the Knights Templar (1307): Under pressure from King Philip IV of France, the Church arrested, tortured, and executed many members of the Knights Templar, accusing them of heresy and other charges. The Role in Slavery: The Church played a role in the transatlantic slave trade, with some clergy owning slaves and the Church at times providing moral justification for the practice. The Sexual Abuse Scandals: In recent decades, widespread sexual abuse by clergy members has been uncovered, along with systematic cover-ups by Church authorities. This has caused immense suffering and long-term damage to countless victims.

I know a lot of conservatives are faithful to a religion of their choice and many are of the Catholic faith. What I don't understand is how many of them DON'T know the truth behind Catholism am and the Vatican . It is an extremely powerful and corrupted religious organization . They have protected child abusers and have laundered hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars through their organization . Can someone explain to me why really intelligent and well respected Catholics (Like Candace) have NOT looked into the true history of the faith they have taken up as gospel ?
