I love showing up to look at all the expensive new toys for overland builds, then going back to my rusty truck hobo camp and cooking an MRE or something on a $50 butane stove. TAO’s Fall Expos are such wonderful opportunities to enjoy a drive through Hill Country, to just relax for a weekend. Read a book, take a walk, shop around. All the kids running around with their water bead guns shooting glow-in-the-dark pellets at night was very entertaining too. It’s fun for the whole family, and here’s hoping the event continues to grow!
Me too, that’s my favorite thing about these events checking out all the setups! Everyone has their own that works best for them. Yes it’s a great event for everyone the kids looks forward it! I believe they are signing up for this year now
@@bfm_overland I’ll try and make it again this year too. If I see y’all around I’ll try to say hi! My “rig” will be in much better condition this year, firmly out of the “death trap” category. You can see it parked in the bottom right in the opening drone shot of the expo field. Got that sweet Texas 3-tone! :P
Very nice! Awsome video . I do a lot of camping in ruidoso but unfortunately they just had a bad wild fire and now severe flooding. Would you be comfortable sharing tose coordinates 🙏. Thanks . Will be watching more of your videos
So is there different levels of routes? I’m going for the first time tomorrow and don’t really know what to expect. I have a 2021 Tacoma trd pro and this is my first time going off road. Do you have any pointers or tips? Should I not go alone? Great video btw.
Thanks! That’s awesome have fun man It was about 5-6 ft deep where we were jumping into I was hitting the floor pretty quick. Definitely jump in with your knees bent haha
Hello there, What “notch” is your 6112’s set at? I’m doing the same thing with the 6112 and 5160 combo. I have the 5160 in hand and I’m waiting on my UCA from JBA to arrive any day now. I’m looking for information on what height to run it at. I purchased a new to me 2015 Tundra limited and I believe the guy before me has a two inch spacer on the front. I like the height of it so if it is actually a 2 inch spacer “lift” or “level” kit then I would want to keep it at around that height. However any insight into this is greatly appreciated. I want to know if you think that extra half inch is going to be significantly noticeable and at what height yours is set to. Thanks and take care.
What part of hill country is that, I stay at 1604 and potranco and I would love to hit that trail with my tundra. As a sales rep and a retired veteran, I want to find a place like that to get away from everything. Please share location and the process to hit that place.
Just left the North Jellystone. Its fun but they need to work on management. It would have been an awesome experience had the staff been even remotely interested in their jobs. 😮
Happy anniversary, Good video. I wish HEB were everywhere in Texas. Brookshires has the monopoly in the Tyler. Tx area. Super 1 is here too but is owned by Brookshires. They are overpriced and have the worst knockoff ability in the food industry. Their Brookshires brand food is so bad, it's embarrassing to think what some Texans will put in their mouth.
I know you can't share the location of this spot with us because the weekend after you do there will be 20 rigs camped out there but son, I can tell you after 23 happy years with my wife is always make them feel special. I see you already figured that out. Sub'd and liked!
Yo man love the vid. I'm a central TX overlander looking to link up for trips. If you are interested let me know. We're a bit newer to the scene but want to make trips happen.
A lot of really unnecessary doodads to go camping eh? You got a fire cook with that. You got a sleeping bag, and I'm assuming a thin mattress. Sleep under the stars in the back of the truck and cook your meals on a fire. There, just saved you $3000 dollars. This is where I live man, get back to the basics and live life! The wild NM lands are great when over landing but the experience when doing the bare minimum is the greatest.
Great work! Dumb question, but on the right hand side, the door that pulls out to a table...on the upper left of that door, it looks like there is a gap or opening? First, why the gap, and second, wouldn't this allow rain and elements inside the trailer?
I personally know the gentleman that owns that ranch, he is one of the most genuine, humble people one could ever know. Glad you had an opportunity to share quality time with your boy in that peaceful place.
first time seeing your channel and really enjoyed it. that is one sweet setup. You might want to hang on to that tundra considering how crappy the new ones are. For me, though, i'll keep my 2016 4runner trail that it too is decked out for overlandding. One last thing, great job you're doing in providing a good father figure for your son.
Thank you! Yes I’m planning on driving this truck into the dirt, no hybrid bs for me! Lol Awesome 4Runners are my favorite vehicles! thank you for the kind words 🙏🏼 and for watching 👍
