I feel like for Barrett especially given her vocal range the producers should’ve let her hit a high note for “YOUUUUUUUU” instead of keeping it monotone so it could be easier for other girls

How u gonna hate Letters? I know it's ur opinion, but I hate your opinion. yes I will cry about it. I think mostly cause I've seen the show live and heard that live. Not just by the guy who played Anatole but also my friend who understudied it and Holy mother of god its awesome.
as someone who played janis that song is actually fucking hard, yes the end is not that high but it’s right in that switch zone and after singing for 4 minutes straight right before that? holy shit
"If these hoes try to come for me I surely will cut thee I will not hesitate to put thou in a ditch Because Maya Angelou ain't no punk bitch" HOW WAS THIS OUT????
Theatre kids are mad because La La Land wasn't made for them, it was made for the general public. An immersive experience where you watch these dreamers try their hardest in almost impossible industries to succeed. They are made to sound like normal people on purpose, they're not Broadway singers, they seem real and relatable. The music and dancing are meant to express their feelings, goals, and idealist nature of the main characters. When you're in love you can hear the music, when you're hopeful life feels like a musical and you want to sing and dance like nobody's watching. What angers them (theatre kids) most is that it worked, completely. It was an absolute success and one of the best odes to Hollywood and artists of the 21st century.
