hybrids were - Toyota had been doing them for 30 years when the government and social shamming told them to toss that all out the window - the natural place for the EV evolution to come off of. MANY .. many companies were heavily investing in small engine technologies .. often from the past where the promise did not live up to the billing .. but 40 to 70 years of time had passed and a mix of design, engineer, materials, and so on was showing good chances that a lot of these were going to be practical as effectively the battery (electric component) got a bigger part of the "grunt" (that is the key) and the motor got less and less of the grunt (small and fast running motors - think of even the Mazda rotary was being tested and refined). But that all got tossed out and like the mothball nuclear plants in Europe - they are trying to kick start that all now again, but they probably lost a generation of advancements that were "cooking up very well". The Atkinson Cycle - it is a work in progress that had the dampers put down on it - they were on the right path with it - but they are a TLC powerplant (and not true Atkinson - they did adapt the Miller cycle very well to make much more refined execution of it).
It really is a shame that all of that work was essentially lost when that radical shift occured. Hopefully with some new tech being researched now we'll see multiple options heading into the future.
Long time no see Mr Badger! (we used LOL back when you streamed; many many years ago😂) I just switched to EV from gas, charging is much faster and cheaper than what I was expecting. I definitely hope the infrastructure continues to grow with all these new EVs being made. Keep up the videos! Long time subscriber still watching!
ayyye! I got the 2024 Model 3 long range version. My Cadillac got totaled so I decided to try a Tesla. Gonna be hard to go back to gas after driving this car 😂
You have a Volvo with a Polestar package, the Polestar car, no Volvo badge, are fully electric. Semantics? Yes. Highly relevant in this scenario? Also yes. Owner of a fleet of Volvos.
Oh interesting, all of the Polestars I've seen were electric. The website also labels itself as "electric performance" so it's not an unreasonable conclusion
For sure, they make primarily electric vehicles now. But they're tuning house had always been making performance gasoline vehicles. Even their first in house car was an electric hybrid.
Polestar only makes NEV vehicles, and you're absolutely right about that. Back in time, Polestar was a modification factory rather than a car manufacturer. Depending on your understanding of the car in the video, I will still refer to it as a Volvo, similar to how AMG is associated with Benz.
@TheAngryHoneyBadger thanks. I live in California and they are more strict about this. Was looking into changing my carb out but it doesn't seem to be an option if I have to smog it. Thanks a lot man.
That first car looks like a pile of doo. With headlights that reposition the bulb and the right body kit, you could make that second car look pretty dope. As for the number three, well lets just say, we will be seeing more and more of them on the road.
