29 would refer to the 29th week - OEMs don't generally stamp parts with specific production days.

2916 = 29th week of 2016. Much like how tires are DOT dated.

Not where the battery is in an XC40. Its located behind the front driver side bumper. Easiest access is by removing the wheel and wheel well cover.

Hello, so a healthy auxiliary battery should also read around 14V as the main battery?

Hope you can kindly advise; Do I need BMS to be reset when replacing my 2017 S60 Dynamic T5 AWD Auxiliary battery?

I didn't have to with mine but if you have the the small gauge wire attached at the battery positive with at 10mm nut going to a connector at the battery negative, you have BMS and then yes it would likely need reset.

What (if anything) will need to be reset as a result of the removal and replacement of the battery? And could clamping a similar 12V battery to the cables while doing this avoid any resets (without blowing any electronics)?

Nothing needs reset. Just continue as normal.

Half done… the old one is out… now to install the new one and get that clamp back on. Doesn’t seem to want to go over… New one is in, no socket set here, used locking pliers instead. Bracket will not go back over the top, so, next time I see one of my sons, I’ll ask them to try.

Do you have a missing strut mount bolt?

I’ve been getting the “power steering reduced” error message on my S90 every time start/stop is engaged, I’ve read AUX battery replacement should clear this up, is this true?
@TheAngryHoneyBadger
@TheAngryHoneyBadger 8 месяцев назад
It might, it could be this or a number of different things.
@anthonyllenrof
@anthonyllenrof 7 месяцев назад
Mostly possible since the aux battery is for starstop and power steering

So no magic wand provided only by Volvo? I’ve had a few car parts stores tell me only Volvo can replace these. I will go hunting around to find it tomorrow to save myself $300.

Odd that parts stores would tell you only volvo can do it. Use the part number from the link I have to the battery and you can find these most places.

I changed both batteries on Volvo s60 and still start/stop reports "Battery charging" and not stopping. I have tried resetting BMS by plugging that cable for 10 sec and I have tried battery age reset by clicking on foglights/alarm lights. I have also driven for 10+km. Shouldn't start stop start working by now?
@TheAngryHoneyBadger
@TheAngryHoneyBadger 9 месяцев назад
Only other issues that would cause it to not work could be the temp outside and/or AC demand. Sport mode being on (will never allow stop start to function.) Or there is a sensor somewhere in the coolant system that can cause it to not read temps correctly but won't throw a code either and stop start will not work because of that too.

@@TheAngryHoneyBadger thanks for the opinion. Volvo lists reasons for disabling startstop and those would be nicely listed. But the screen explicitly states charging battery the only reason. I guess a bit more driving will charge the auxiliary. I just need confirmation that it should work, without extra step like VIDA something.

Here goes morning update: start stop works! So for anyone doing this replacement - don’t get scared if it takes some time to settle. I am not sure if BMS reset and waiting overnight did the trick

@@tvrtkomrkonjic8445 what is the BMS reset procedure please?
