My name is Lone Vik. I am a board game fanatic, collector and player. This channel has been created by me out of passion to this hobby and the will to share this passion with as many people as I can. You'll find unboxing videos, rules explanations, reviews and opinions - all prepared by me. Hope you like the content and enjoy watching.
So, I haven't played the game but am now ready to give it a go and have painted 3 random heroes. Do the big enemies also come and go at random or are they mostly seen once? Just thinking of which to paint first after the Draugrs (the big Troll of course!). Do you know if any of the heroes from Lost Stories are to be favored instead of the core box?
Only played the Core Box campaign for now and haven't even touched the content of the add-ons - cause they came so late. As for the big minis - they don't pop up that frequently which is a bit disappointing but in line with the story narration. I was irritated at how little enemy variety there is in the core box because I felt like I am constantly cycling between the Draugr and the Archers. :/
@@lonevik yes I've played 3 adventures now and can already se repetition is a big minus in the game. Especially when playing solo and have to recycle the feat cards all the time x 3 etc.
Great video it was easy to follow along with the rulebook and just the sheets and board out to learn how to play so I'm ready to teach 2 friends today and play it for the first time. I just want to point out a few term/phrases you used that might make it confusing. For the "take any dna" action you kept saying "random". It wouldn't be random because you get to choose. So the better term is take any one, not a random one. When you mentioned where you finish on your excitement track it can be noted that you only need to circle one space in the row to get the bonus you don't need to complete the row. When you mentioned demolishing you said "erase" and the rulebook specifically says you don't erase you block it off and it's now "rubble" which means you can't build over that space and paths don't go through it. I think you also didn't mention the end game points for circled exits only count if there is still a tour path to it. So if at one point you circle an exit but demolish a building or road that breaks up the path, you have to reconnect that path by the end of the game or you don't get the points. Other than those small things the video is great and clear and this is the best rulebook I've seen from Pandasaurus. My Dinosaur Island and Dinosaur World rulebooks had a lot of mistakes and omissions so its nice to see such a top tier production for this game. I can see myself playing this often solo as it looks fun, variable, and fast. Thanks again. liked and subscribed. Cheers!
@@lonevik i guess we both suffers from anxiety. i bought a punching bag to release my anxiety on. No picking since then. Hope you can find other ways too 🙂
Thanks! Spent a few hours (probably 3) re-learning the game throughout the day and your videos helped a lot. I don't know if you still play, but if you have all the expansions, I recommend buying the organizer/insert from Tinkering Paws. Makes setup a breeze!
Sadly a lot of coop games suffer the same player count issue :) 4 at a table seems to be the most popular limit for most games. I myself am looking for 5 player games and it gets trickier with time to find good titles for groups above 4 :)
You are most welcome. If you have any more questions about board games, you know where to find me ;) have a great day. P.s. Canvas is a great little game - worth every penny and beautiful as art <3
Yes, sadly it does. The new characters are especially OP and if you combine them with some of the new abilities, the defenders have slim chances. We treat the new characters as novelty items and focus on playing the base game snipers but we use the new maps for variety. It makes the add-on seem like a weak content to cost ratio but I purchased mine second hand and the price was pretty fair.
This tutorial was great! You did an amazing job of running through everything. I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Now everything makes much more sense and I feel like I can play through a planet without even reading the rules.. I think I will still but either way thank you!
Thanks for the kind words! I am so glad you found my video helpful :) Unsettled is a great game with a lot of stellar writing and humour. Well worth the effort :) enjoy!
So your biggest complaint is you can't run two campaigns simultaneously!?! Thats quite encouraging to hear and quite differernt from the norm given how negative most reviews are of this game. Do you think some of the negativity stems from the game not being like how people have percieved it/think it should be? (i.e. A bit like Bloodborne!)
I feel that people were a bit disappointed about the difficulty. It is a pretty straightforward game - with a great narrative - and it had potential to be more complex. I find it ok, because I had not high expectations - I enjoyed it a lot. Also I liked the bag building element while there were complaints of it being too random. But dice rolling would be just as random :) lastly, the rules are a bit finnicky but I tend to play coops and narratives in a way that when a rule is unclear I rule for the benefit of the party :D
I jist bought this game because i was told the solo campaigns are really cool. I am a little intimated after watching a few minutes of this. Lol maybe this shouldnt have been my first board game
Don't get discouraged :) sure, it may not be the best entry level game ;) but it is fun after you learn the rules. The first scenario is quite straightforward. Check out my how to play video and if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them ;)
Wow this is a very good video! Clear understandable explanation - great articulation particulary for non english native speakers👍🏻 Subscription and comment are obligatory 😉 Greetings from Germany
Thank you for the kind word :) glad you liked it and that the video helped - as for the articulation, being an English language teacher for more than 10 years helps ;) - stay tuned for more vids once I finish moving my living quarters :)
It's possible to protect the stickers with Krylon spray, but it would add another layer of work that's not really necessary. I usually apply Krylon (two layers) to low quality tiles/boards if I see that this would make the game last considerably more. Too much Krylon will make the components look frosty and that's not a good idea. Thank you for this video!
Thanks you! Glad you like it. This game is an underappreciated gem in my opinion. Sadly, it is pretty hard to come by nowadays, especially with the addon which improves the game balance nicely.
Like the others; great video, thanks. Only thing maybe better would be to show some event cards and quests that result (other than the world quest you showed.) But you also have a full playthrough you mentioned, so that would cover it. Thanks!
I posted this question on BGG also: Very good video, thank you! But don't you get the upgrading rule wrong? At 22:45, you said, that the upgraded 1 to 2-square residential building has to be influenced by two cultural tiles after the upgrade. But as I understand the rules, the 1-square residential building has to be influenced by two cultural tiles before the upgrade is possible. I am right?
