Really nice Marx cars, the coloured passengers are so much better than the Lionel black ones....I'm in the UK so cant find any of these cars and shipping to me from the states is too expensive.. but I do have a nice 333!.....can you show these in motion please?
Mine were recently damaged by hurricane Helene and Milton :( the beautiful ornaments have now just blended and have like paint chipping off. Is there a way to completely remove the pain and repaint them again?
My uncle gave me his 1437ws set a few years ago, it was sitting in an attic for many years. I’ve been working to restore every piece and I just finished the locomotive. Great video by the way thank you👍
I think there were exceptions. I have my father’s it has flat rivet front and 3 point pick up. He wasn’t a train guy and never swapped motor and he got it for Xmas before the war.
I have one ..the 3000 .but its painted with a grey boiler with the black engine and the black coal tender with the Canadian Pacific .writen on it . .5 cars with the 5 diffrent Canadian citys on the sides .
I’ve been looking for 1 year for this catalog. It’s rare all right. Can’t find it. At frame 1:51, set E, is the train my parents bought for me. Could you take a photo of it and send it to me? Would mean a lot to me. Thank you.
If you are installing the #423 Marx Twin Light Crossing Flasher, then you have that backwards. On the #423 the common (ground) is the center screw & it hooks up to the #1 clip on the 154C, not the #3 clip like you have it set up.
Lionel slowly removed the prices from their catalogs due to the increase of stores doing discount pricing. Lionel’s prices were MSRP or Manufacturer’s Suggested retail price or sometimes referred to as Full Retail. So the price changed from store to store.
I know I'm late to the party, but thats a beautiful piece. I think ot a well done piece of folk art, definitely intended to mimic postwar Lionel accessories. I hope its still bringing joy to your layout. I love one of a kind finds!
I finally got my friends bike ready. I only wish I could find an original seat. None of my model seat will fit. His had about 40 years of dirt and grime . I used a simple furniture polish to make it shine. But it rides like a new bike after loosening the inner wheel nuts.
Thanks for doing this video. We have a set from 1938. I almost identical to what you’re showing on the video, but I am not sure how to hook up the controllers.
Nice. I didn't know this bike was that old. I m repairing one for a friend . His is a Roadmaster Skyrider. Find original is not easy or cheap. So I'm using model parts.
The dull spotting that you see on the ornament is the decay of the silvering inside the bulb. Similar to what happens with old mirrors as they are exposed to heat and moisture over time. It causes it to decay. It is best to keep ornaments stored in a cool and dry place to slow the decaying process and prolong the life of the ornament.
I just got a 2020 last week and it does have the smoke bulb. The first one that I can recall ever having in my hands. Odd thing about this one, it has the the atomic motor that has the plug in wire to turn off the reversing unit or turn it on. The odd part is that it has a slot on the top shell for a reversing lever switch, and also when you turn off the reversing unit from the motor connection the light/smoke unit gets turned off as well. Wiring all looks original and one wire I will need to replace soon since it is losing its covering, but I taped it for now. Oh I should have researched this one more before I bought it. I had the impression with this higher number that this was a later model, maybe from the 1960's. Nope try 1946, 1947... I bought one about 10 years a go and did not have a running set up as tall but finally last years I have one large 072 track on a large almost the whole room, small bedroom table. That one I have now found since I did all of this, so I don't know much about that one, but my 671 I just got about three weeks ago with the whole set. I was a a bit of a project since the sender had no packing around these items.... Anyhow that one had the heater smoke unit for the pellets. I cleaned out the old gunk after letting it heat it up a few times and then just used regular smoke fluid in it. I also improved the smoking by adding a soft spring inside the plunger cup. To me it now it is the highest smoke output of the post-war era.
