Hi David, I'm also in the UK. I borrowed an original Opsix back at Christmas 2022 - I liked it but not enough to buy one. I really wanted the 2.0 because it had more presets, but didn't get round to it. Then the Mk2 came out and like you I hesitated at £700. However, back in early July I saw a new Opsix SE at just over 1k and I went for it. Tbh the 61 keys with real after-touch really help to bring it alive.

Ok . I notice the first had a fair few recognisable film type phrases . Not sure i can think of a use for those. What do you consider the basic strenghth of 2 versus 1 . Many thanks
A couple of aspects I disliked about 8Dio String Ostinatos (similar product) is the timing issues and lack of release samples: when you play two notes together, sometimes they would be slightly out of sync with each other, and when you stop playing any rhythmic pattern, it just stops dead with no release. How does this library compare on those kinds of issues? Cheers : )
I don't know much about 8Dio but Westwood have some pretty cool software. As mentioned there is a lot of FX that can be added to the existing snapshots to create some dramatic sounds. I can look at these questions in the full review.

Hey Dave I’m having trouble linking my keyboard to logic it’s just not controlling the controls all its doin is when I press a key the screen just do some weird stuff light up make my screen smaller do you have any setup tutorials walk through or suggestion in detail how to get it to work
Well that is basically my main video for setting up logic with Arturia keyboard. The only thing I suggest is deleting the set-up and starting again. You may have selected the wrong Mackie, plus make sure DAW in out are configured as video.
Just upgraded Kontakt 7 to the latest version and boy am I regretting it, it is crashing all the time in Studio One and i'm having all kinds of issues. Just bought my dream DAW computer, the best specs out there and i can't even use Native's kontakt without a freezing Studio One, what a bummer!!!!
Have you tried using Kontakt as standalone instead of within Studio One? Also try using Komplete Kontrol and open Kontakt in that. Certainly not having a problem with Logic crashing, maybe try some other free DAWs just to see.
Studio one user too. Also have a Komplete Mki keyboard. Kontakt 7 frakked me up big time. As didthe latest Komplete Kontrol driver. I've had to uninstall all the Komplete ultimate 14 stuff and downgrade to 6 and Komplete driver 2.9.6. Then go back through all my songs (couple hundred) and inventory all the ones with kontakt libs that might be impacted. So annoying. NI has some nice stuff but they have some major rollout issues from time to time, especially when they stop supporting older kit.
@@DavidThomCreations i need to use it within my DAW but i sometimes update the libaries in the standalone mode. It is a frustrating proces when you invest in top notch hardware but the software is causing major issues
Thank you so much! I recently purchased Pigments 5 and have been learning how to integrate with my KeyLab 61 Mkii. There doesn't seem to be many videos regarding the two but it seems similar to using with KeyLab 49 Essential.
I have four of Sampleson's products and as far as I can tell they don't do updates. And my experience with trying to communicate with them has been lousy.

@@DavidThomCreations Probably will never see the preset displayed on the UI either. I emailed them and asked in what country are they located. I never received a reply at all. I was going to get Sandstorm,but now I most likely won't.
Hi, On the main Patch screen under the Global Settings click on Skin. That offers a choice of Dark, Light, or Grey each having 5 size option. I use black but the Light looks pretty good and is very clear. To get your name in user created patches (I'm using a Mac). Go to Library/Application Support/Synapse Audio/Dune 3/Soundbanks/User Using a plain text editor, key in your details as follows (substituting your own details) ; Soundbank configuration file for Synapse Patches Browser AuthorCode = TBY AuthorName = The Big Yin save as config.ini You have to include your initials in the patch when you create it. "Flying Saucers TBY" for example I put my initials at the end. Not sure if that's important but in general that's how the factory ones are named.
I did the process for hybrid keys downloading it from the link but unfortunately i still receive the error message. what am I doing wrong? my version of Kontakt is the 7.4.2
@@DavidThomCreations the file I'm downloading from the link is like 50mb while the original on Native access is more in the gigabytes. Are you sure that file is correct?. I did the same for 'Ethereal Earth' and the file I downloaded was 1.5gb. It worked perfectly. What do you mean by batch re save for Komplete Kontrol? Thank you so much
Sounds like a lot of crap to do before I can make music... but I just wanted a Walz, Rumba or Disco with some intro/ending and adapting to the chords I play. Is that possible?
I very rarely use song mode tbh, if you watch my expansion videos you'll see I live mix the tracks using the arranger. The newer version of Maschine makes life easier for songs as you now have clip mode.
This is going to sound like a really, really, really dumb question, but what the Hell 😂 When you click on the envelope options at the bottom of the screen, or the Vector Synthesis options, the keyboard disappears. How do you get it back ? Ive tried clicking all over the place and that envelope screen won’t disappear. I want to get the keyboard back. Its going to be really obvious, isn’t it ?? 😮🫣
Yeah sort of, you can use the sampler builder but its a complete pain and I gave up. There are 1000s of samples within the Wavestate that can be modified quite dramatically.
The difference between violins 1 and 2 you asked is: 1 - Usually how many players are part of the section 2 - The panning when mixing, in this case Violins 1 towards the left speaker and Violins 2 towards the right. 3 - The intention of the creators and composers is to use different textures and passages. It'd sound more bodied when playing the 2 sections at once or playing intervals.
Sonoma probably works. I got it on a 2016 retina macbook, and it worked flawlessly. I used that USB stick for my late 2013 imac and got really bad graphical glitches that made it unusable, at the time of posting I'm redoing it, if I remember to reply I'll tell the outcome
Yeah I'll stick with Ventura, as I mentioned it didn't support a lot of the music plugins that I use and still buggy. There's not exactly a huge difference either.
Both of the free plugins this month on Plugin Boutique are quite nice. The other one is Newfangled Audio Equivocate. I made two small purchases to get them both.
Hello, nice playing and a nice sounds and a nice synthesiser. I currently own a stunning mini Nova which yes, it’s fantastic. However, I’d like to know what the subtle differences are between the mini Nova and Ultra Nova if you happen to know? I see at a first glance, they are full size keys, on the model you’ve got.
I recommend watching the other videos in the Ultranova playlist as the differences are huge! I didn't have it for long but I did like the workflow and the touch controls. For some reason Novation stopped making it and kept on with the MIniNova, such a shame.
I was starting to think that I would never pair my ARTURIA Keylab 49 Mk ii So thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, you’ve saved me from a huge headache and time precious time. This keyboard is way too amazing to not work in lockstep with Logic, I knew there must be some trick, and it was found matching it with a Mackie hardware of all things. Again, thank you.

Yeah you can, it shows the FX at around 4:42 in the video, its one of the tabs at the bottom of the app. It's probably easier to do this in software rather than on the Wavestate

When I click on Mackie Control and go to output and input, I don't don't get a choice of DAW OUT or IN. Just for KL choices and Logic Pro virtual out/in
That seems a bit odd. I would delete that and start again. Maybe try another USB cable as well. I can't add a screenshot in comments to show what this should look like so maybe email me if still having issues.
This whole thing is worth a deep discussion, I think that Roland Cloud is actually quite enticing but i hear their license management is glitchy and troublesome which could mean you will not have peace of mind when working on large scale client work something like that? Im bummed that Zenology Pro is not available and is excluded from the offer, i guess they deem it would be cheating since its got models of all the instruments in it? but it would be super helpful to own that one permanently if you intended to get the jupiter x. ---if im truthful, Subscriptions disgusting me to my core, the fact that anyone expects you to pay for anything forever, no matter how much it is, its endless, eternal payments. Truthfully i might save money buying the standalone software when, a year from now i forget i had an annual sub, and they charge another 200 dollars to my name. it might be worth doing if i just buy the life plan, noodle around for a little with stuff and then cancel immdiately, but the mental dark cloud of a subscription... oof. hate it lol.

@@DavidThomCreations Thats a problem, because I tried to select presets in the built-in browser, but got nowhere. So, with an upgrade they made it less user-friendly than more.

Do you have a second video that explains what to do next? I mean, I've followed what you've done, but no sound is coming from my PC, even though keys are moving on the screen (and sound has worked before). This all seems needlessly confusing, genuinely frustrating as hell.
