I feel truly privileged to have met and exchanged a few words with Mr Buzzard a few times after attending his seminars. A high achiever with humility and the common touch.

@emerald1and1 According to Nicholas Johnson, orbital debris, whether in orbit or reentering the atmosphere, has no significant effect on Earth’s climate. Does this help answer your question?

well said. I would go one further and say, 'put nobody or anything in space until you can get them there without chemical or explosive power' ie graviton, space elevator, or eletro magnetics.

@TheSpace81 It's one of our favorites as well. She stole the room. What struck you most in her talk? Have you seen women.nasa.gov ? There are more stories to check out there that you might be interested in.

One thumbs up is just not enough for this. I've been fortunate enough to twice see Jay perform this story, have listened to his CD too many times to count, and it still gives me shivers and makes me laugh out loud. He not only got a standing ovation at the National Storytelling Festival, he captured my mother's attention, who never really got what storytelling was all about until she listened to the CD. Thank you, NASA, for putting up a full version. Hope it leads to more gigs for Jay.

these guys talk a good talk, but I dont see much good going on at nasa. we need to clean house with the existing managment and start new with a lean development approach with some people that know how to spell, that know how to make it happen and not people like these that just talk about it.

NASA still doesn't get it........ Commercial launch providers are still cheaper! For the price of one of these rockets, SpaceX can build you a rocket more powerful than the Saturn V(the Falcon XX) Then NASA can stop focusing on the launch vehicle and focus on the actual spacecraft that will get their astronauts to other planets. Let companies worry about putting you into space, they can do it cheaper. Focus instead on designing new technologies for exploration(nuclear rockets, etc...)
