A NASA-led project called “The Internet of Animals” combines Earth satellite observations and animal tracking data to get a better idea of changing habitats.
In this episode of our "Small Steps, Giant Leaps" podcast, we talk to Dr. Morgan Gilmour of NASA's Ames Research Center on the Internet of Animals, a collaborative research project with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Geological Survey, and other universities and institutions. The project is giving insight into the intersection of animal movement patterns and climate. By combining remote sensing data with wildlife tracking tags, experts can get a better idea of scientific needs to manage conservation at the federal level.
