The Online Jewelry Academy (OJA) was established in 2012 by co-founders John Ahr and Don Hunt. Working with just a cell phone camera, the two produced their first videos for RU-vid. The response to their initial videos was encouraging. So, Ahr and Hunt decided to continue to produce educational videos for anyone interested in making jewelry. As their access to video recording and editing technology increased, so did the number and quality of their videos. But, the two men have remained consistent in adhering to three principles in each of their videos:
Safety First
Step-by-step instruction that's easy to follow
Concise and interesting lessons
You can find the complete Online Jewelry Academy (OJA) playlist here on RU-vid or on the OJA's website at: www.onlinejewelryacademy.com

@OnlineJewelryAcademy

@@Kat_109--stay_crazy_yall Yes, you could increase the size of an open ring using pliers. Or, you could expand it using a ring mandrel and rawhide mallet. That way it would retain a round shape. 😀

I'm now curious if it's the amount of egg (and sulphur) that increases its effect. Would have loved to see a test where you added yolk AND white. Maybe that would have been a greater effect than just the white because there is sulphur in both the white and the yolk?

Watched my 1st video and subscribed. Ive collected cut gemstones for a while. With all I've collected I decided to start setting stones, and I found some silver rings. The listing said something about burnishing so here I am. Why use a burnishing tool in lieu of a rotary tool with a flannel or cloth polishing wheel? Ive done very well using these. Am I missing out on something better? Is an electric rotary not as good as a proper burninshing shaft?

Could this heating / pickling method bring back the white look?

@OnlineJewelryAcademy
@OnlineJewelryAcademy 4 месяца назад
You can use bees wax or any type of lubricant that you use on your saw blades to lubricate your drill bits. If you use the technique demonstrated in this video, of drilling a "pilot hole" first, you may not need to secure the objet that you're drilling in a vice. The drill bits used in the video are high speed bits from a jewelry supply company. You'll get better at drilling with practice. Good luck! 🍀 😀
