Here to make Marketing reports less boring and more actionable.
Companies large and small are now suffering from information overload. There is too much information to take an action. How we change that is stripping everything away that does not matter and formatting the information in a way that tells a story.
First we plan. Then we build.
I've been running visionlabs.com for 5 Years & we are delivering amazing (at least I think so) actionable dashboards to our clients!
This video is incredibly insightful! The breakdown of landing pages, standard pages, and items for eCommerce is so clear and informative. It's a must-watch for anyone looking to optimize their online store. Thanks for making complex concepts easy to understand!
Thanks for sucha detailed video! Just a quick question - can we also store some user-provided data like emails and phone numbers in a 1st-party cookie tag and then send it back to google ads?
is there a way to download a report in Looker studio at this time with the image assets...? Even as a pdf? it appears blank when tried to download PDF report in Looker studio.
You should make a video of what is charged on BQ/Looker. For example are looker filters lien youve done charged? Or just any query made on Bi query sql. But can you also answer that question here quickly
@@Vision-Labs Does this include for example if I connect GA4 directly to Looker, and with the preset values, drop a chart/scorecard, which then people can filter its date. That shouldn't cost right? I thought interaction in Looker by user does not cost anything, just querying from biqquery or am i wrong?
quick question, what is th ebes way to update the table by using google sheet, for example if everyday I replace the data on the google sheet how can I append the new data in to the table?
@@Vision-Labs final question, what should i so when I get Data Set Configuration Error -- looker can not connect to your data set, I am able to see the fields on the data are at the right
Valuable info! Is there any way to get the datasource without the connectors? They've all become pricey recently. Do you know any workarounds? Appreciate it:)
Great content, thanks a lot! For candlesticks, since you are running the calculation in bigQuery, does that mean you can't "filter" the data? In my dataset, I have the performance of 5 products in retail and I'd like to show candlesticks for different "price buckets" but with your approach, I wouldn't be able to filter by product right? Or I would have to create 5 different querys?
You would just need to have each product averaged. So you would have 5 rows (1 per product) per day ( or your time granularity) You would have each metric avg across those products. Then when you select it. It will show just that one. Because the average of 1 is just that metric
I am currently having the same problem as previously mentioned in the comments - When I click on the image, it opens in a new tab. Do we just have to wait for Google to fix this or is there a workaround ?
Hey! Can you create a video where you show. How to take google sheets and send it looker studio and recreate the type of visual presentation you are showcasing in your cheatsheets. A step by step tutorial. Just something simple so the workflow becomes clear.
great video as always! however, no need to create a custom JS variable for the page title. you can simply create a JS variable with the value 'document.title'
This is brilliant Stockton thank you for the overview of the latest on cookies. Literally answers so many Agency questions I have been getting this week.
Super helpful videos, thank you! Was wondering if you know of a way to do a blend to calculate the difference between two scorecards when one scorecard is within the button control field grouped filter and the other isn't. In this case both scorecards are for the same metric, just illustrating the difference between non-filtered and filtered metric. (ie; (Active Users in USA)/(Active users) = some%)
Hey Brian! I don’t think that will be possible. Buttons apply to the visual not the underlying function There might be some way to hack it using parameters but I’m not 100% sure
Very useful. I was a little scared by all those clickbait headlines like 'End of the digital marketing era' :) Thanks for calming me down! Subscribed to your channel
Greetings! I Struggle to get the following to work: - 5 Different Dates with Value X for clicks I calculate Max(X)-Min(X) as new Value P to represent the (P)rogress. Now I try to Visualize P on an Area/Line chart with all 5 Dates on the Bottom, BUT I want each of those 5 Dates to only consider each step as the Max Date to represent the P Value till that specific Step. Example for the Dates listed on the Bottom time chart: Date1: 0 (Because Min is Max) Date2: Date2 - Date1 Date3: Date3 - Date1 Date4: Date4 - Date1 Date5: Date5 - Date1 I tried for hours to make it work and failed, any Idea ? Could u look into it for a tip or something? Got Discord ?
I want to asked, in regards to best practice, which is better : 1.Save the sql script into view, and connecting to looker studio, or 2.Save the sql script into table(with scheduling.) and connecting to looker studio ?
hey, when i hit the image link (not opening in a new tab) the page still refreshes. Anyway to fix this and make it transition smoothly between pages like you have in the video?
how do I stop sending events like scroll and select_item and user_engagement with this setup? I don't need those sent to pixel but they're all coming in under the Setup Method of Manual Setup now. Thanks!
Hi JJ, thank you so much for the heads up! LookerStudioVIP articles helped me a lot over these years, thanks a lot for the great work! looking forward to join the lab in the next months ;)
Hey, I just want to say thank you! I learned a lot, my favorite video was when you taught we don't need blended datasets in some cases when you can use a custom field with the same id name. I grew a lot as an professional data analyst and you're part of this. (yes, I watched until the end haha)
I have made buttons for filtering, but facing difficulty while making custom bookmarks for button filters. If you have done it before, please let me know how to do it.
@@Vision-Labs There is an option in report setting for custom bookmark link, that helps the viewer to save the filtered report as bookmark. It seems to work on dropdown and other kinds of filters, but not working on button filter.
I can see the UTM params tracking in GA4 but not real time data for today, just for the day before, is it delayed revenue? Is there a way to view today real time data for UTM tracking params? Thanks!
God Tier Tutorial man, you save my work. I am a student in practice from Chile, at work they ask me to make an indicator report. With your tutorial you fixed a problem where the program repeated the data from the actual months vs. the budget months. Thank you so much. One question, in the line graph, I want to make a historical comparison of the actual data vs the budget. The budget is displayed correctly month by month, but the actual data is added (example: January + February) over all months in the chart. You know how to fix that or the problem that causes it. Greetings!!
@@Vision-LabsTe proble is when i dont blend, the data added in the amount of month. i think that the solution to his problem is write in the "Real" database all the month with a 0 in the quantity. I think this because the amount of data in the table is added every case the amoint of quantity in the real data base is "NULL".
This was helpful! I didn't know about the grouping - I thought that was for visuals only! And cool tricks on the multiple filters with the geographic regions. What I am trying to figure out is how do you do dimensional controls on time series charts with 1 metric? I am basically trying to recreate the GA4 tech details report in Looker so other coworkers can view without needing GA4 access or training. But it seems like I keep breaking dimension scope with this?
@@Vision-Labsjust Active Users! and I want to switch between the tech dimensions: browser, device category, device model, screen resolution, app version, platform, os version, platfrom / device category, operating system, operating system with version
@@cityofatom those are session scopped dimensions so it will not work unfortunatly. If you change it to Sessions, you should be good to go! The problem you are running in to is what happens if 1 user uses different opperating systesm?
This feature is SO underrated. It solves so many problems. Thanks for pointing that out! Also, I think Google chose a total misnomer for this. "Field ID" suggests that it should be unique among all data sources, which is the opposite of what it is intended for...
Great video (as always) JJ! Just note that you can also group stuff by using the new 'Group calculated field' which makes it simpler and without knowing how to use case statements :) support.google.com/looker-studio/answer/14258973?sjid=11930721101841380352-EU
