they made it as hard as possible for gin and gum to lock in w each other........ jay never looks up from his drums and james is faced away from him with his keys...... devastating
RIP Albini- I love it when he wields the guitar as a theremin, then puts it back around his waist! I saw Shellac back in 2010 or so one of the best and most fun shows I've seen. The Q/A joke portion was a real bonus
I really love it when band members pick up the slack when one of the team needs a minute to fix stuff, tune, recover, etc. Just playing a groove with fewer instruments is cool, but Bob's Q&A is friggin' great.
Ripped off Kurt’s style dude.. Ohh yeah that’s right. Albini produced the recording. That’s right! The Melvins were doing the whole feedback thing back in their earliest days though so.. Pass!
I was hoping to see a Shellac show at some point. I guess it will never happen. I still have my early memories of all those cassette recordings of all Steve's other accomplishments. RIP Steve Albini. You were the sample age of my paternal grandfather when he died of the same disease at the same age, but luckily you went out look a lot younger than he did.
Saw you boys 6 times, all in SF. THANKS for always bringing IT. Bob Weston & Todd Trainor...so very sorry for your loss. RIP Steve, and love to all your loved ones
Pretty sure this was Shellac’s first oakland gig; they had passed the town up for a long long time despite years of invitations and having several local friends
@@michaelzvid I've sent this video to so many people over the years. It's one of my favorite things on youtube. Thank you for immortalizing this moment, and making sure that Steve's visceral spirit carries on. 🙏
I didn’t know he still played chocolate girl, I thought they had forgotten about it. So glad they brought it back, I’m getting all new goose bumps listening to this version
Old man lying by the side of the road With the lorries rolling by Blue moon sinking from the weight of the load And the buildings scrape the sky Cold wind ripping down the alley at dawn And the morning paper flies Dead man lying by the side of the road With the daylight in his eyes Don't let it bring you down It's only castles burning Find someone who's turning And you will come around Blind man running through the light of the night With an answer in his hand Come on down to the river of sight And you can really understand Red lights flashing through the window in the rain Can you hear the sirens moan? White cane lying in a gutter in the lane If you're walking home alone Don't let it bring you down It's only castles burning Find someone who's turning And you will come around Don't let it bring you down It's only castles burning Just find someone who's turning And you will come around Don't let it bring you down It's only castles burning Just find someone who's turning And you will come around
Thank you so much for uploading this - I'm so grateful I stumbled upon it. The Moon Is Down has been my favorite EITS song for a long time. I'm not sure if I've ever listened to another album (by EITS or any artist) more than Those Who Tell The Truth. And the sound quality in this clip is unreal. I just saw them in Chicago and it was mind blowing... Only thing that could have made it better was if they played this song. If anyone of you haven't seen them live and have the chance, do it (and make sure to bring earplugs - no, seriously - bring them). I literally never comment on RU-vid, but the dopamine from this clip is embarrassingly high.
