This movie has been on my radar ever since it was first announced (was even my most anticipated movie of this year) since was so hyped for it considering Mary and the witch’s Flower was my personal Favorite movie of 2018 I even got the Japanese Bd of The Imaginary and have seen it around 6 times loved it so much even got myself a plush of Rudger 🙂🥰
While i do like the movie it kinda falls flat compared too most of Ghibli movies and it's one thing studio Ponoc does wrong is it a lot less subtle and it times forced whimsy. But i probably like it more than most movies and i want these movies to be successful and i am saddened that they aren't.
I can definitely see that, most Ghibli movies just have this expert level craftmanship that is hard to beat. But, I preferred the Imaginary to The Boy and the Heron 💀👀 so there's that haha. Hopefully once Ponoc starts releasing more works, they'll be a bit more successful! They don't have too much of a portfolio yet, so I hope they keep pushing as well! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏
As a huge anime fan I was aware of The Imaginary even before the English language marketing campaign. I watched it the day it first appeared on Netflix and genuinely loved all aspects of the movie. I have heard some criticism that the characters don't learn anything at the story's end. But personally I think that's a misinterpretation of the final scene.

Very entertaining and informative! I actually watched this a while back and was pleasantly surprised! I could definitely see the Studio Ghibli influence but felt it had its own unique tone that differentiated it just enough to stand on its own. Hopefully we can expect more interesting films from Studio Ponoc in the future 😄

Daaanng! That's awesome you were able to find a cartridge for that! If you enjoyed it, then you definitely need to try Majora's Mask too. Getting an actual nice cartridge would be $$$ though haha Wow thank you 😁😁! I actually tried a new strategy for this one after watching a bunch of videos on how to improve my scripts, but basically I have a template I created based off of the strategies I saw that worked. TBD if it actually works or not because my CTR is still a work in progress haha. Key points for what I'm working with right now is: starting off with an idea that includes the thumbnail, hook, and title (sometimes I change the thumbnails and titles but at least it's a good starting point) and then I try to use the intro to answer whatever questions the audience would be asking when they see the thumbnail + title + hook. After that, starting each section in a similar way: making a hook for the section and explaining, but then also, if I do a bunch of research and write excessively, re-reading and then reeling back from info dumping because that's been one of my biggest challenges with writing haha. Hopefully that answers your question 🤣

I’ve been a huge fan of Akira since I first saw it in the 90s (probably when I was way too young to do so haha). I checked out the manga some years later and it only deepened my appreciation for the story as a whole. While I’ve never played Majora’s Mask, I can definitely see the similarities and wouldn’t doubt that it, as like many other properties, was influenced by Akira (insert bike slide homage montage here). Overall, I really enjoyed your take on these properties and, much like your Sleep Token/OMORI conspiracy video, find your content extremely fun and entertaining! I can’t wait to see what fun (& wacky) connections you find to share with us next time! 🖤

I happened to be fighting sans in undertale while watching this video and I kinda feel bad now Also I lost a cat that was my best friend. He was my baby boy, and I can’t believe I didn’t get to say goodbye. I thought he was fine, I thought that his sickness would go away soon. The plan was to take him to the vet, but he didn’t have enough time for us to do so. He was only 8!!!!! He was basically still a baby compared to the average lifespan of a cat, which is 15 years. I have a plush if him now so I can remember all the fun I had while he was still alive. When I could pet his long fur to comfort me while I tried to sleep. When I could throw a cat toy and he would run to get it. When I could walk in the door and call his name. “Leeeeeeeeeo maaaaaaaaan” I would call. His little meow was the best part of my day. The first day I walked through my back door without hearing his meow was the worst. My sister started crying so I had to comfort her and act strong. It wasn’t long until I had to run to my room and cry. I couldn’t believe the fact that my baby boy was in heaven and I’ll never see him again. I miss you Leo. Have fun up there with Cali. (my other cat that passed) Sorry for the long paragraph. I just miss him too much.

This is a beautiful comparison of the work of Sleep Token and Omocat. As a fan of both Sleep Token and Omori, you’ve managed to capture what I’ve been thinking for so long, and you're the first (so far) to make this connection online. There are many parallels between the music of Sleep Token and Omori’s story. For example, "Vore" could symbolize Sunny's being swallowed up by his despair. "Atlantic" relates to how Vessel finds himself waking up in a hospital bed after a failed suicide attempt (which seems all too fitting with this game). "Blood Sport" could be about Sunny mourning the loss of his sister. Songs like "Euclid" and "Ascensionism" signify Vessel (and Sunny's) redemption. Throughout Omori, the themes of memory loss, drowning, and self-acceptance are present, which are reflected in each of Sleep Token’s albums. Their EPs and singles before "Sundowning" are also deeply emotional and worth checking out. Both Vessel and Sunny are said to be dream walkers, navigating between reality and dreams, which is another interesting similarity. "Everything is going to be okay." Worship.
Yes!!! I love all those parallels you listed! I didn't realize that so many fans seem to agree that Atlantic is Vessel waking up in a hospital after an attempt, which, as you say, totally fits with Sunny waking up at the end too! I actually had Blood Sport in the video but took it out because it was so long lol I definitely need to check out some of the earlier works too! I've only heard Nazareth (which I'm obsessed with of course) but I'll absolutely get around to it once my current Sundowning obsession chills out haha So, since you're a fan of both, perhaps you'll appreciate this but I didn't realize until after putting this together that Are You Really Okay really has a lot of parallels between Sunny and Basil too 👀👀 there's just soooo many similarities, excited to see someone who is a fan of both and thinking the same thing!! I liked the idea behind the time skip. Like the 5 years disappeared in the blink of an eye and the inability to go home. I was fine with the romance until Miuna started being looked at as a genuine love interest. Honestly though I love this anime no matter how many criticisms i have for it and I’m happy to see someone talking about it. Thanks for the video ✨

I know 😩!! They kinda dropped the ball on the second season 🙁 I just wish they would have stayed focused on the important plot points from the first season but they went too hard in the romance for me 🙃

What if "I traveled far beyond the path of reason" means sunny and vessel left reason and had to work out their complicated emotions which when thinking reasonably it would have been better to hide from what hurt them
Ooooooh I like that 👏👏 that kind of embodies the process of healing through a trauma response which is needed to work out those emotions! (which both of them absolutely have haha)

Girl!! Not only have you opened my mind to two worlds I never knew but this video is amazing!!! I think you make a lot of great correlations between the lyrics and Sunny/Omori’s journey through grief. While I’ve never played the game or listened to the music the connection between grief and escape still resonates. Especially because it was his doing. Honestly even though it’s damning for him to be sucked into his dream world, it makes me a little mad because it’s still an escape from what he did. He still gets that part of her locked away in his self conscious. Kind of like having his cake and eating it too. Yet I feel for him at the same time as a forgiving person.

A lot of the fandom seems to prefer the idea that Sunny is forgiven in the end, but at the end of the day there really is a lot of selfishness in his actions soooooo...your sentiment is probably a lot more common than people admit haha. Thank you for sharing your perspective, especially as someone who has not played the game (or listened to Sleep Token), it's still so relevant and accurate to the feelings you get while playing!
As both an Omori and Sleep Token fan, this video is awesome! I don't think they were inspired by Omori, but I can't deny that there's thematic overlaps and I love it!

Maybe Vessel was/is friends with the developers of OMORI you never know 💀🤣 (and the first trailer for OMORI came out in 2014 so you know...maybe there's something to that...probably not lol)
How can they be inspired by Omori when they came first? Not even mentioning Thread the Needle (where Vessel gave his heart to Sleep) which released in 2016. Sundowning was released in 2019 and Omori in 2020.
I'm in high school and I'll be a junior next august... I find overcoming my fear very scary since I've *always* been an outcast, not even having any friends for the past 9-or-so years. Sometimes I feel like social anxiety or lack of friends has left me devoid of many experiences most people have had by my age. Still, I'm going to try my best to have people like me, even if I don't think it will change anything. I see that most people in this comment section have people to support them or help them, I hope eventually that can be me, too... Maybe one day. Or maybe not. Good video though :]

Yes! Tunnel vision is the perfect way to describe it! It definitely sucks, I used to have issues like that at old jobs for quite some time, staying late and at worst, procrastinating, because I needed the project to be perfect. But to tie back to your most recent video, I don't think people care about that either just like the insecurities hahaha I am very happy to know I am not alone! I get the vibe we have a lot of similar struggles 💀💀 You watch anime?! OMG that's so cool!! I mean, there's no way I could have guessed that from watching your channel but its a very welcome surprise :DD watching the last two episodes was a defining moment when I was a kid haha You definitely need to play OMORI, I actually have a very lengthy video coming out this Friday on OMORI funny enough! Played Undertale for a long time, I got the game so many years ago that I don’t remember now, it came out in 2015, so Ima just say 2016. I really appreciate the love that this game gets, it has so many messages and layers to it within its story and characters and it can really change someone and their perspectives if they really dig deep, I personally know everything there is to know about Undertale (Everything…), and I can say it has definitely changed me as well. I used to have dreams that would happen in real life months/years later, and one of the dreams was literally the Sans battle about two years before the game even released, I longed to play the game and as soon as I recognized the character sprites I got it and I’ve been happier since then. I hope this video reaches some important people some day, your editing is really good! Plus you are promoting a very positive and strong message.

Asgore and Toriel are examples of people choosing to hate or not hate. Asgore developed hate towards humans because some of them killed his son Asriel, meanwhile Toriel decided that hating humans was not the answer. I've seen many people like Asgore, they've become hateful of a certain group of people because that group of people did something to their own group of people, for example I've seen people fight sexism with sexism, racism with racism,xenophobia with xenophobia or any kind of political or religious extremism with more extremism. Meanwhile, if we are like Toriel we would know that hating an entire group of people is not the answer, and that we should be kind.
