Just because it had deteriorated over the years and it's largely unnecessary to find a replacement. It's just meant to pull air from up by the radiator. 400s and 460s run cool enough to where it's not an issue. Also it's difficult to find one that's OEM
Thank you my Hyperbeam Jukebox is now working again! I used a 1.8mm drill bit to remove the glue from the damaged buttons. I used a small cut piece of a garden fence wire staple (u shaped ) to replace the pins it seems to fit exactly in the hole.
I have the same exact car and about to do the same radiator replacement. Went for a generic aluminum replacement that says it will fit. Fingers crossed!
awesome video man! very helpful thank you. got my 79 mark v from out of storage. sat for about 20 years! replaced gas tank, sending unit, few fuel lines, carb rebuilt got it running nicely! but definitely time for a new radiator.
Nice! These cars hold up pretty well after long term storage. Just check your rubber belts, hoses, and vacuum lines. I've had this car for over 10 years and can say that they are pretty reliable all things considered. Just radiators specifically are difficult to find. Start looking as soon as possibe!
Christ, that has to be one of the easiest heater core jobs I's ever seen. My 71 Mustang had to remove part of the dash and heater box. Had a 73 LeSabre and half the dash had to come out. Bought a "79 Continental, replaced the radiator and assume the heater core would be next. But thanks for this video, looks like an easy morning job!!
Hi Jay.. Just bought 1977 Lincoln MarkV. I love this car. I like your video here. Maybe you can do some more Mark V maintenance and repairs. I will need to fix my power antenna. We can share repair ideas. Regards Jason
Dude. I had to replace the heater core on a 79 Furtura. Yep. Had to drop the entire dash, this included removing the glove box cuz there were bolts securing the dash to the firewall there, had to disconnect and drop the steering column, cuz the dash wouldn't drop far enough to reach the heater core box. I was starting to realize, I really don't need heat in this car.😊
I had purchased it on eBay NOS in the box. They don't come up for sale too often. But you can use a non oem heater core and just cut any heat resistant foam to size. It should work well!
Advice: Always bleed from the right rear first and get into the practice of collecting the waste with a tube in a jar. When these bleed the pressure sprays the fluid all over. The check valves that you could not crack are common GM and they can be stubborn. Finally, RR issues the rubber key FOB so it doesn't scratch the wood facia. Fender cover as well. Happy motoring!
Excellent video, well done, I was waiting for the cursing after I saw you fit the top pipe without first fitting on the outer body😀.. so one can only assume the seals were faulty or did you suspect something else? But great work!
I had originally thought it was just the pump body seals as they are common failure points on these systems (Both Rolls Royce/Bentley and Citroën)...and the system seemed like it was still building pressure. The pressure was just residual and was enough to keep the idiot light from illuminating (about 800 PSI). The rear height control still worked fine! I had no idea I had pump problems until I attempted to bleed the system. I'll always keep my mistakes in my videos...haha! Gotta stay humble I suppose.
It's usually a short to ground near the firewall or frame rail if it's always reading full. If it's always empty it's the float in the gas tank. They are thin brass and develop small pinhole leaks over time and gradually fill with gas, weighing it down.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rlpb9zg5mLs.htmlsi=UGXxYW9X3BVN4q0N It's an earlier model but the fuel gauge operates basically the same. Hope it helps a bit
@@bluecollarballer I have a 78 Lincoln mark v with the fuel gauge and the miles to empty work. I unplugged the sending unit and use some wires the miles to empty working but the fuel gauge is still saying empty didn’t move.
Just got true duals put on my 460- Econoline E-350 class C camper.. bout 4-5 days ago...2-1/2 tubing ( no cats) all the way back exiting out rite in front of my duallys on each side...my 460 with them FlowMonster 2 chamber mufflers pair together so well that deep rumble like your Hot Rod Lincoln sounds....My Baby sounds so good now im loving it.
