What a shame that was my wife’s favorite trail, we ride it every time we’re in the winter area. From what I’ve heard the state and the forestry department decide what happens to the trails. We enjoy trails of all types, and it’s really a shame they keep filling in trails like trail 5.

It was a disappointment when the trail had been marked " challenging " for years and then to just fill all of it in with gravel. Before that the first part of the trail was fun and at the end of the day I did have a good time. It's just the idea of making everything a gravel trail then why have a sxs. I realize that not everyone is looking for a tougher trail and there are plenty of those around, but to take the ones that are rough and fill them in with gravel makes no sense to me. Is this the Trail 5 that goes from around Loretta to the Northwest to that Big Lake ? I put on 457 miles around Clam Lake, Draper, Drummond ect. from Monday until Thursday. I did some of the southern part of the Dead Horse but soon abandoned it north of 77. It seems to be the year of Road Closed up there. Part of FS 338 was closed due to a bridge out and that detoured the dead horse. Mellen was in Total disarray as they are taking out the railroad crossing and Bridge construction....

I was watching your Tach VS the speed you were going. My 900 was the same way. Wouldn't shift up until the 5 or 6 grand mark. 40 MPH on a smooth road or trail was around 5900 RPM. I also have a 850 touring and that thing is So Smooth and Quiet you wouldn't believe it compared to the RZR and still has gobs of power. But that one is a odd firing engine. I even asked the dealer and he say that was normal. So I said to hell with the warranty and changed the primary weights and spring. Now 40 MPH is about 4300.... Much more quiet and a pleasure to drive. Still has enough power. Only thing that worries me is the heavier weights. will put more pressure on the rollers.

Yep, messing with the clutches makes me nervous. It seems like when I start doing something to them, that's all I can think about when I'm out riding. I changed the oem belt to a Hunter Works and that belt seems like it is a harsher engagement when I start to move. I checked the service limit on the secondary pucks and that was totally outside the limits so I went with rollers. When I need new tires that will probably bring another set of problems if I decide to go bigger, which I doubt but you never know. I wish this machine came with 14" rims it would make more tire options available. I do know one thing you had better be ready to spend some money if you own one!
@kenmajeski7715

@@jensenoutdoors9804 Ya it seems like the original belt gives a jerky start. But engaging at a lower speed helps. I went with Kanati Mongrels on the 900, 27 X 9 X 12 all the way around. My rims are the same width so I can rotate them. Thanks for watching Eric! We parked in Drummond next to the campground there is an area across from the visitor center. The trail comes out right to it. You turn off from Hwy 63 onto Drummond Lake Rd. I would suggest you wait until after a rain, or it can get pretty dusty! Enjoy the ride!

@@jensenoutdoors9804 Thank for the info I put it in my maps. We will be in the area next weekend staying east of hayward off of county road B. I seen you also was on trail 5 that is probably only 5 miles from us. Can you tell me where you parked for that one as well? I'm wondering if there's parking at intersection of forest road 319 county road B? Thanks for taking the time to help me out. Also looking at dead horse trail and trail 11 which I believe is called the 7 mile loop.

@@ericbrandt6949 For trail 5 turn off from Cty. B onto 319 you can park anywhere you can pull off from 319 there are several spots to do that. You may want to go on 319 until you get to trail 5 and turn around with your truck there just so you have an idea of the places you can park. For Dead Horse there is a National Forest camp ground off from Cty. GG and you can park anywhere in there, it's not much of a campground, the fee is $5.00 per vehicle. For the 9 mile loop I'm not sure about, I always went there right from where I live. Have a great ride!
